No one.
Please stop asking.
All you will get is speculation and hearsay from someone that a poster meets on her dog walk, someone who swears the head has emailed her and someone else making it up.
Stop asking.

More background than any other supposed dates people are plucking out the air on here Hmm

Rebelwithallthecause · 15/04/2020 12:01

You could just look and see the people
Quoted for yourself

I've given up worrying about it.... When McDonald's will reopen however is a question that is not being given as much worry as it should be. Have started fantasizing about a sausage Mcmuffin and hash brown GrinSad

noblegiraffe · 15/04/2020 12:03

The Telegraph is not reporting that schools will go back May 11th, the Telegraph is trying to make it so that schools go back May 11th. I guess Telegraph readers are worried about their investments.

Their reporting is notably short of evidence.

ilovecakeandwine · 15/04/2020 12:05

I thought it's was agreed by the mumsnet experts that it would be September at the very earliest and if you even think it'll be any earlier you are stupid .
No I agree we don't know , I can hope like a lot it'll be earlier as we won't survive no work till September.

noblegiraffe · 15/04/2020 12:06

25th May is not only during half term but is also a bank holiday. Idiots.

Rebelwithallthecause · 15/04/2020 12:06

26th probably then. It’s been 4 hours since I read the paper

Rebelwithallthecause · 15/04/2020 12:08

@Sunshinesky1981 I made my own sausage and egg McMuffin . Was scrumptious.
Missing the Big Macs though

It was my main pregnancy craving so I’m unintentionally having a far healthier 3rd trimester

Dc asked me last night for the first time since lockdown down for a happy meal though.

Appuskidu · 15/04/2020 12:20

Yes, schools will return on a Tuesday, in half term.

That sounds really likely Grin.

noblegiraffe · 15/04/2020 12:26

I just read the Telegraph article, it said the week after half term which starts 25th May so 1st June. It’s like they’re trying to put the month of May into people’s heads for some reason. Hmm

It also said opening schools will be fine because the elderly and vulnerable people will be told to isolate for 6 months instead of 3. Where are the threads about that?

And what about the vulnerable people who work in schools?

Appuskidu · 15/04/2020 12:32

The media are the ones driving this-it’s shocking. The post daily drivel with an ‘expert’ in something (usually neither children or medicine) saying schools need to come back asap. Someone on Mumsnet starts a post or three about it which the media then use as evidence that schools should go back!

It also said opening schools will be fine because the elderly and vulnerable people will be told to isolate for 6 months instead of 3. Where are the threads about that?

Is it 6 months now?

And what about the vulnerable people who work in schools?

This is a huge issue. Will they be expected to go back? Will they be back, but the shielded people not? Pregnant people?

noblegiraffe · 15/04/2020 12:35

The media are the ones driving this-it’s shocking.

Specifically the section of the media with more interest in the stock market than children’s safety.

mooching · 15/04/2020 12:36

I work in a school so I definitely know. (That no one knows!)

PatriciaHolm · 15/04/2020 12:38

MN should just put a large banner in capitals about the CV topic saying "NO ONE KNOWS". Which is the answer to pretty much any question anyone has at the moment.

cabbageking · 15/04/2020 13:11

As soon as there is a decision 're a date it will be shared. Schools are not hiding a possible date. There is none. A statement will come via the Government.

noblegiraffe · 15/04/2020 13:13

Schools are not hiding a possible date.

Oh the very idea that schools would be given any advanced warning of anything by the DfE.

We NEVER are.

FlamingoAndJohn · 15/04/2020 14:39

I love the assertion from some quarters that the schools know because a teacher told them.
Teachers are at the very bottom of the pile and head teachers are only slightly above them.

LindainLockdown · 15/04/2020 14:53

Agree the schools will be last to know. The way they were treated re the lockdown implementation was a clear reflection of the barely concealed ideological hatred of many Tories for state education.

So when someone says I work in a school and we are opening in September, well bollocks to that, it's got nothing to do with what teachers in the school want or think. If schools get a week's notice they will be lucky.

fandajji · 15/04/2020 15:01

We really do not know.

My school is planning for after may half term and September. There are whispers of summer holiday opening, half days, primary schools only until September and even then never opening again because teachers have a strangely high proportion of shielders. Personally I'm preparing for may by looking at other countries.

I can see why people are interested, school is what many parents base their whole life around but can parents please stop asking us, we don't know!

rooboo1 · 15/04/2020 16:15

My son is going back on the 20th of this month.

Appuskidu · 15/04/2020 16:20

My son is going back on the 20th of this month

Are you going to elaborate on where you are, what sort of school that is and if your son has a social worker/EHC plan?

Mintjulia · 15/04/2020 16:23

I'm hoping for June 1st. Please....

We've just finished ds's online work for the weeks before Easter. It included an hour of Ukulele practice [ confused]

I have learned huge huge respect for school teachers.

noblegiraffe · 15/04/2020 16:46

In contrast to all this speculation and faffing in England, the Welsh education minister has said that there are no plans for Welsh schools to go back before September.

It must be nice to have some leadership.

refraction · 15/04/2020 16:50

25th is a bank holiday and the Whit week half term. So yea 25th sounds legit.
