Multiple people out in the car

Hi. Am I being OTT?

What would the possible need be for 2/3/4 people to go out in the same car?

I thought adults were supposed to be doing the essential shopping alone (unless you're a single parent).

I just keep thinking if there was an accident the more people that are injured the more pressure it will put on the NHS.

I've seen posts on here where families have driven to see grandparents but stood on the drive or families have dropped off easter eggs.

Am I being a tad ridiculous?

Ffs stop this worrying about what everyone else is doing and just do what you are doing to keep yourself and your family
Safe.

I don't think people are reading the post. I didn't mention taking people to work, looking after relatives / animals. Hospital appointments. Mental health issues.

It’s not your job to police why people are out OP. For example, the other day I picked up husband from hospital(where he works), got shopping on way home(he chilled in the car). Met our 2 adult children (who live with us) in the supermarket car park after they had walked dog there (dropping of repeat prescription at GP’s on way) and we all drove (5minutes) home from there. Is that ok with you??

Here we go again. Made up rules and fake news.

If you read the legislation, it doesn't say ANYEHERE that only two people are allowed to leave the house by foot or by vehicle. Your entire household group can leave the house by foot or by vehicle providing it's a necessary journey. You can also leave the house more than once a day, providing it's a necessary journey.

So I may take my 9yo daughter to the chemist at 9am to get a rash looked at. My 16 yo old son and 40yo Dh May come just for the drive but will stay in the car as they don't need to leave it. Then I may go home and have lunch. I have a hospital appointment at 2.30 pm so may go alone and do shopping on the way home. Then at 5 pm we will all go for a walk.

All of that is allowed.

Read the damn legislation and stop making stuff up

We do this to take ds to his special school. We also do it to take ds for his exercise as his needs mean we have a reasonable excuse for doing so.

True Op you didn't

What would the possible need be for 2/3/4 people to go out in the same car

Is what you said and now you know.

HandfulOfFlowers · 13/04/2020 13:19

Yawn, yawn, yawn.... You need to find something to do.

Underhisi · 13/04/2020 13:19

We also always need 2 adults in the car with ds. It isn't safe to drive him on your own.

Msloverlover · 13/04/2020 13:22

Oh my days. Take up sudoku. Or crocheting.

Isla727 · 13/04/2020 13:22

The risk of an accident whilst cycling or horse riding is greater than on a car journey so it's a bit of a silly point. There are no rules about LOCAL journeys that are made for shopping purposes or exercise purposes. Of course multiple family members cannot actually walk around the supermarket together though so most families are probably sending one person.

Long journeys are not allowed because people can take the infection from one area to another and people are more likely to crash, the longer they drive for.

louise5754 · 13/04/2020 13:25

I was asking. I have autism and anxiety and I didn't think we were allowed but now I know we can.

We went with two adults and three children to my parents house yesterday so the kids could play in the garden and my parents could watch them through the windows. They haven’t left their house for 4 weeks and they miss their grandchildren. I really don’t care if some busybody thinks it is “against the rules” Hmm

Iadoremylabrador · 13/04/2020 13:32

We've been out in the car (2 adults 2 children) for a 2 minute drive to the park. We could walk it in just over 10 minutes but the puppy is useless walking on a lead (which I'm trying to work on, on the days we don't go to the park) so we drive.

Likethebattle · 13/04/2020 13:36

We go to pick up our click and collect together. It’s the only time we both get out somewhere and it’s quicker to pack the boot if there are two of us doing it. Also if we go shopping DH drives and waits and I go in as I’m quicker at it and better at improvising if things aren’t available. He also has autoimmune condition. I can drive but i don’t like it and due to a knee injury it’s painful for me right now.

HappyAsASandboy · 13/04/2020 15:21

My husband gave me and our newborn a lift to a hospital appointment twice last week. I can't drive as I had a c section less than a week ago.

Is that ok?

squishee · 13/04/2020 16:06

Have you seen The Lives of Others?

Wowthisisreal · 14/04/2020 13:41

@truffleshuffle unless the OP is in Spain this information is quite irrelevant.
