Are you going to send your kids back in when they reopen?

Wondering if people will send them back.
As they think only 4-10% of population might have had it. And this peak was only 4w of school.
Im not shielding but isolating as much as possible because im
asthmatic.

I hope they say attendance isnt mandatory so people who need to/want to or are still WFH can keep them home if needed.

@Gin96 I was posting when my kids were about, wrongly typed a million, and instantly said I had typed the wrong figure. If you read that thread you know that and are simply trying to undermine me.

Jillyhilly · 12/04/2020 17:35

Wow. alloutoffucks appears to be in the grip of WHO ideology. I didn’t know such people exist.

alloutoffucks · 12/04/2020 17:36

Okay so it is attack time. You can't actually post anything evidence based so you decide to attack me instead?

Gin96 · 12/04/2020 17:37

It wasn’t a figure you wrote over a million have died already, it was scaremongering and you accuse other people of doing it.

flowerycurtain · 12/04/2020 17:38

Yes it's in my child's best interests.

And I can't work that well when they're at home.

And we're all young fit and healthy. I'm not really scared of getting it.

U2HasTheEdge · 12/04/2020 17:40

I will send mine back as soon as they are open. I do not like my children though, and they have never been my first priority. Sarcasm/

My children are very low risk, we are all low risk in this house. I know the risk of CV is going to be around for a long time and they can't stay off until there is a vaccination available and are able to get it.

Life is never risk free. Weighing up the risks and benefits leads me to believe that they are better off at school when they reopen.

alloutoffucks · 12/04/2020 17:40

@Gin96 Yes I wrote a million and then just after posted saying I had written it wrongly and the figure I actually meant. And if you had read that you know exactly what happened.

alloutoffucks · 12/04/2020 17:42

And posting on here with kids in the background does mean it is easy to type the wrong figure. But I quickly corrected it and said it was a mistake.
I am not stupid I know you must know that. But I also know you are just trying to rubbish me because you can't actually argue against what I am saying.

middleager · 12/04/2020 17:43

Nope. We live in the English town with the highest threat to life right now if you have Covid-19.

Maybe if I lived somewhere like Bristol or Devon.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 12/04/2020 17:45

Those unable or unwilling to live with less income, or prioritising better can be the latest statistics, along with their kids.

Lovely sentiment there devlesko

MrsSnitchnose · 12/04/2020 17:45

DS will be going back as soon as they open. I work in a school too and I'm desperate to go back to work. Neither of us are high risk

alloutoffucks · 12/04/2020 17:47

@mrssnitchnose If you are not vulnerable, I am really surprised that you are not already working looking after keyworkers children.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 12/04/2020 17:47

Sorry, missed the Hmm

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 12/04/2020 17:49

Yep, absolutely. They are very low risk for this (and in any case I think we've already had it) and school is really important for them.
It will also make working much easier for me.

MrsSnitchnose · 12/04/2020 17:50

@alloutoffucks I'm a technician and they've told anyone who isn't taking the learning sessions to say away

MrsSnitchnose · 12/04/2020 17:50

*stay, not say

HoffiCoffi13 · 12/04/2020 17:52

alloutoffucks you know that not all schools are open? A couple near me aren’t, as they had no pupil take up. And also of course that not all school workers are teachers. The vast majority of the admin and support staff at my DC’s school are not currently working as they’re not needed for the 7 children who are still there. It would be weird if they got the accountant looking after key workers children.

nellodee · 12/04/2020 17:53

If we open up schools before doing something to stop this spreading like it did last time, why are we bothering with a lockdown at all?

Quartz2208 · 12/04/2020 17:54

@alloutoffucks we have had this discussion before. Our (UK) Government has made many mistakes on this, as have the Chinese Governments, US Governments and the WHO. Everyone has been caught on the backfoot.

Because we didnt prepare enough. We either relied on the fact that it would be a flu outbreak or that somehow it wouldnt happen (Bill Gates on this in 2015 is very interesting) and that it wasnt necessary for the money.

Then when it did - everyone panicked and hoped it was either not true or it would go away.

But what about the fact then that the WHO will I think be supportive of phased return before vaccine - will you send your child back then? Or are you planning on staying in until this is over

Soubriquet · 12/04/2020 17:55

Jeez yes!!

The kids will be lucky to be able to change out of their pyjamas when school reopens Grin

Gin96 · 12/04/2020 17:55

@alloutoffucks I don’t think you know what your talking about, I can’t take anything you say seriously.

alloutoffucks · 12/04/2020 17:58

@Quartz2208 WHO and China have been sounding the alarm for a while, our government ignored it. I was posting about this on here a but ago after reading what WHO said and was told I was scaremongering by quite a few of those attacking me now.
Yes I am not saying I have to wait for a vaccine. But the risk has to be low that my kids will catch it. And there has to be an evidence base for them saying a low risk.

PineappleDanish · 12/04/2020 18:03

In my US state, schools are now closed till Sept 1st.

That's misleading from a UK perspective as many schools finish a lot earlier than we do here. I have a friend whose daughter is at school in North Carolina and they were due to finish on 9th June anyway, returning at the very end of August.

So although "closed until 1st September" sounds dramatic, it's not really. The most optimistic speculation here is that schools may think about potentially opening after the May half term in England and Wales, which would be June 7th in most areas. By which point it's the end of term in the US anyway. In Scotland, we're scheduled to finish up on 24th June. We don't have the midterm break in the same way, our May break would finish 26th May. If they send kids back at that point it's only 4 weeks until the end of term.

Quartz2208 · 12/04/2020 18:06

@alloutoffucks but ut was too late by then - if mid November is agreed look at the report in January

www.who.int/csr/don/12-january-2020-novel-coronavirus-china/en/

www.who.int/csr/don/21-january-2020-novel-coronavirus-republic-of-korea-ex-china/en/

Then it did go to Situation reports but it was on the back foot itself at the beginning as well

HoldMyLobster · 12/04/2020 18:06

In Scotland, we're scheduled to finish up on 24th June

We were due to close June 22nd.
