If/when you get Coronavirus, do you think you'll survive it?

Probably an odd question to ask, but I think my odds are slightly in my favour to survive it.
Just wondering whether a lot of you actually fear death from it or not?
I'm aware obviously that it seems somewhat indiscriminate in who it takes out in some exceptional cases.
I've survived something similar, but I hope I'm healthy enough to beat it. If it's my time to go, then so be, we choose not the day nor the hour...
What do you think your odds are?
For reference I'm 39 and a smoker Blush

Don't know. I do feel worried about it. I'm an O blood group and I have no known conditions but I haven't felt healthy for a while. I'm taking iron tablets for anaemia and blood tests related to that over 5 years have consistently shown abnormally low lymphocytes. This worries me. I'm 47 and have a bmi of 26 which also isn't great.

I'm burying my head in the sand, but secretly worried that I wouldn't survive it, which is probably silly because I don't worry about catching flu and have never had a chest infection or needed antibiotics as an adult.

However, I've been feeling low-level ill most of the time for a few years. Undiagnosed autoimmune condition, low B12, low iron, low platelets. Various stomach and neurological symptoms and a low BMI. Mid-40s. In brief, I feel frail. Even my DP has said that he's worried about me catching it and he's not a worrier.

A lot of people here are stating that they have hay fever...is this considered a health condition in terms of covid?!

Toomuchgoingon · 15/04/2020 13:49

Well I'm on the shielding list due to immunosuppression, I'm very overweight and have other pre existing conditions. However, I do regular CV exercise, don't drink or smoke and don't generally pick up other viruses apart from colds from my DC, and these are generally mild when I do. So no idea what that means for me. For now I'm keeping out of everyone's way..

Xtinalee · 15/04/2020 16:15

@Flossie44 not entirely sure. I suffer from it too and wanted clarification aswell but I did speak to someone who’s had it and gets hayfever so not sure. I just wish we knew more about it.

Flossie44 · 15/04/2020 16:20

I’ve never thought hayfever to be an underlying health issue tbh. I suffer pretty badly and take steroids for it. But I just see it as an annoyance. I see diabetes, high blood pressure and other such issues as underlying health issues.

Egghead68 · 15/04/2020 16:22

I didn’t think I would survive it (am in extremely vulnerable/shielding group) but so far (day 25) I have.

It’s not pleasant though.

DressingGownofDoom · 15/04/2020 16:24

I hope so! I'm youngish, female, never really suffered from chest infections although I do have a high BMI. Hopefully still have some protection from my BCG 20 years ago.

Egghead68 · 15/04/2020 16:26

A small proportion of those infected will become very unwell

Around 20%, so not that small.

EC22 · 15/04/2020 16:29

I was frightened because I have a BMI 40+ and a heart defect, I’m 41.
I’ve had a relatively mild (confirmed) case, which I have almost fully recovered from.

I'm not sure I'm pregnant recent ex smoker. I'm 33 no other health issues O positive blood group but being pregnant I know I'm at risk.
I went to my sons parents evening 5th March very busy very packed before social distancing lots of handshakes. Five days later I got a weird illness I didn't have a cough but it hurt to breath I was very wheezy which is unusual for me and my throat hurt last seven days got really worried as I couldn't take one small walk without being out of breath. The doctors were open but empty, as I was pregnant they agreed to see me and check me over my chest was ok my temp was 37.8 but he said I'm sure it's not that but don't come here again your more likely to get it here.
I felt better for about five days then my chest went funny again for a couple of days and I had bad nausea but that could be baby related.
I feel ok now will never know if I had it but if I didn't then I'm not looking forward to getting it as my chest wasn't good at the time and really was tight so yes if I get it who knows if I will survive.
