I'll no doubt get flamed but sometimes you just don't know if something is acceptable or not. My front lawn desperately needs mowing. I don't have a lawn mower. I obviously can't go out and buy one now. My Dad wants to give me his. He lives near the supermarket where I do my essential shop. Would it be acceptable for me to run by his house next week when I do a shop, if I let him put the lawn mower in the car and stand well back on the street when he does so we are still socially distant?

I can’t see how that’s different from buying a mower from b and q on click and collect.

Tiredoutteacher2020 · 10/04/2020 15:25

Wait a couple of weeks until after the peak

Boredofthisstagenow · 10/04/2020 15:30

Sounds fine to me.

TheThingWithFeathers · 10/04/2020 15:31

I think that's fine.

TomHardysCBBC · 10/04/2020 15:32

Fine.

user1635896324685367 · 10/04/2020 15:32

The legislation says you can go out to obtain things necessary for the maintenance and upkeep of the household.

BeansOnToast4T · 10/04/2020 15:33

Fine.

DartmoorChef · 10/04/2020 15:33

Of course its fine.

LuluBellaBlue · 10/04/2020 15:34

Yes that’s fine

WillowB · 10/04/2020 15:35

I'd do it

faithinallisee · 10/04/2020 15:36

Wait a couple of weeks until after the peak

Why? You know that the peak now is from people who caught the virus a couple of weeks ago?

Fivefourthree · 10/04/2020 15:36

I'd do it too.

Mascotte · 10/04/2020 15:37

Fine- get that grass cut 😃

AnneLovesGilbert · 10/04/2020 15:38

Fine.

DeRigueurMortis · 10/04/2020 15:39

Yes that's fine.

Tiredoutteacher2020 · 10/04/2020 15:40

Faith - because it's a non essential journey.

Wingedharpy · 10/04/2020 15:40

Yep

PurpleDaisies · 10/04/2020 15:41

But tired, it’s essentially part of the journey to the shop.

PhilCornwall1 · 10/04/2020 15:41

Go for it, absolutely nothing wrong at all, it's not going to cause any problems at all.

PhilCornwall1 · 10/04/2020 15:44

Wait a couple of weeks until after the peak

And you know it's going to be in a couple of weeks? The so called "experts" don't really know when that's going to be.

Abraid2 · 10/04/2020 15:45

Fine

picklemewalnuts · 10/04/2020 15:46

It's also ok to buy one. Though not to tour fifteen shops while deciding.

doodleygirl · 10/04/2020 15:47

So, if Mumsnet say it’s ok you go, if they say no, you don’t? How do you manage in your life normally? Is it a communal vote?

Flaxmeadow · 10/04/2020 15:48

The legislation says you can go out to obtain things necessary for the maintenance and upkeep of the household

I think it probably means necessary, as in a crumbling wall or fixing a leak

HoffiCoffi13 · 10/04/2020 15:50

My dad dropped his jet washer on our doorstop on his way to the shop.
