To my 80 year old parent? I have no other reason to make this journey as it's not on the way to the shops or my place of work but I thought it would cheer them up. I'm taking flowers too. It is Easter after all!

Ffs no you can't you stupid idiot and now you've put our much loved parent at risk. I just needed a rant to people who would understand.

If I wasn't NC with this idiot before I certainly my would be now AngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngry

(I might have PMT, or just COVID-19 rage).

😆

You are allowed to travel to deliver essentials to elderly and vulnerable relatives, if you were to take some essentials like bread and milk there would be no harm in taking an Easter egg and flowers with you as well.

Holdingmybreath · 09/04/2020 12:26

I thought ahead and am getting one delivered to my mum.
So first you go shopping for the non essential egg, then you make a non essential journey to deliver it.
Do you still need this question answering or will you go ahead regardless anyway?

PippaPegg · 09/04/2020 12:27

Oh get a grip

CrunchyCarrot · 09/04/2020 12:28

Only if you are the Easter Bunny.

cologne4711 · 09/04/2020 12:30

Perhaps they bought it when they were shopping for other things.

OP, I don't know why people are still asking these sorts of questions. Do what you think is right. If I lived that close to my mum I probably would too.

ScarfLadysBag · 09/04/2020 12:30

Did anyone actually read the post or just read the title and couldn't control themselves? Grin

TheThingWithFeathers · 09/04/2020 12:30

I came on to say "no of course you bloody can't!" but I see you know that! Your relative is an idiot!

CassidyStone · 09/04/2020 12:32

I ordered mine online as soon as I realised Easter would be cancelled. So my elderly mum and my 2 adult daughters and their partners have all ready received theirs.

Reallybadidea · 09/04/2020 12:33

I really don't see that it's any different at all to buying one online and having it delivered.

AHintOfStyle · 09/04/2020 12:33

@Holdingmybreath did you read the whole post 🙈

SistemaAddict · 09/04/2020 12:33

I ordered our eggs with last week's shopping delivery too.

I'm planning the same tbh, as per PP, I think it's better that I deliver it than a delivery company with many more contacts. I'm taking bread milk and pasta too.

Matildathehun77 · 09/04/2020 12:50

This is going to turn into one of those posts with dozens of "RTFT!!!!" On it isn't it?? Grin

Holdingmybreath · 09/04/2020 12:50

I did read the whole post but obviously misunderstood, for which I apologise.
Thank you for letting me know.
I do get you OP ,now my brain has been sorted.

WTF99 · 09/04/2020 12:52

Drop it off when you're taking other essentials. Don't make a special journey. And maintain distance obvs.

SistemaAddict · 09/04/2020 13:03

Another relative thinks 3 bottles of gin is an essential shop. Just gin, nothing else. With a shielded spouse and high risk themselves.
They'll all be completing if lockdown is tightened or extended.

elizabethdraper · 09/04/2020 13:05

In Ireland it has been specified that delivering Easter eggs is not an essential journey.

You will be fined and /arrested

Wingedharpy · 09/04/2020 13:36

@Bercows :
Easter egg = I'm with you.
Gin = Deffo essential!😉

Baaaahhhhh · 09/04/2020 14:25

I went by my mums (empty) house, and got a load of summer clothes to take to my mum at her care home yesterday. I also went out to collect some food, and did a round trip of about 20 miles. I waited on the doorstep, and had a chat with the receptionist, and was passed a card and present for my DD's birthday. I am obviously an very, very, bad person, NOT.

corabel · 09/04/2020 16:43

I was tempted to do this for my grandchildren. And then I decided that if everyone did the same that it would lead to lots of unnecessary journeys. They'll get eggs from their parents and I'll make it up to them afterwards.

SistemaAddict · 09/04/2020 17:04

@corabel that's exactly what my mum is doing. My dc have got an egg from me as I was very lucky to be able to order them with my tesco shopping. Mum is going to get them something with the next delivery. Ds at 5 understands the rules so it baffles me as to why people who are older can't.
