Dog owners very irresponsible letting them of leafs on walks knowing they too can spread covid19?

Today on my permitted walk in semi rural area two men having a day on the beach just let thier dog run wild with no consideration for social distancing.

With reports on dogs, cats and the latest tiger having symptoms and testing positive for covid19 should dig owners be allowed to let thier dogs just jump on passers by?

I saw the dog coming and moved about 4 metres away from the men. One just lit up a fab and did nothing and the other watched.

When I moved the dig chased me as I ran to try to climb up a hill. I threw stones near it to try to deter but didn't work and owner eventually took him and said he was being friendly. More like dangerous. I said look we are all trying to social distance and who knows if your dog has covid19 and some of us are trying to keep ourselves and others safe and social distance!

Shouldnt dog owners be more careful?

OP why are you walking in a bird nesting area? If they are protected, nobody should be there disturbing the birds.

As for the dogs, of course it's wrong... but I think you need to take it up with the owner. Don't forget, dogs are predators, THEY SMELL FEAR!

mumieone · 07/04/2020 13:35

JKScot4 I wasn't running like an idiot. I was running like Linford with my lycra I'll have you know.

Prob what through the dog owners off ....it looked so good.

Dogs should be under control. No argument there. And yes, they should be registered.

Same goes for goady fuckers.

SilverBangle · 07/04/2020 13:39

Are you serious? An owner who watched their out of control dog chase someone who was running away from it and then when they eventually could be arsed to take some control of their pet, claimed it was being friendly... yes, I'm sure they would respond really well to that

I bet the dog owner was thinking, “Why is that muppet playing with my dog?” Who the fuck throws stones near a dog other than people expecting the dog to retrieve them? 😂

nevergooogle · 07/04/2020 13:41

It's a major taboo to not like dogs.
I can't stand them.
Not even puppies.
Or cats or baskets of kittens for that matter.
As most people seem to cream themselves at pets I have come to the conclusion that I'm some sort of psychopath.

There's not much you can do but I wish there was.

mumieone · 07/04/2020 13:41

Alwrightdorien (etc etc)....

What does goady mean and more so a 'goady fucker'.

I have not till today ever heard that word. I guess it's a local slang but if you want to offend me properly I need to know what you mean

Could someone kindly interpret this into international English as I think we have a global coed on here :-)

Cats can have it, aren't you concerned about cats roaming and spreading it?

Where's the cry for peopler to keep their cats in?

SilverBangle · 07/04/2020 13:45

Mumie

A goady fucker is someone who starts a thread (usually about dogs) so they get all the dog haters siding with them and all the dog lovers thinking you’re a complete twat. Goady fuckers do it for attention.... but I’m sure you knew that

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 07/04/2020 13:45

But, I will fully agree for people to keep their tigers on the lead and under control at all times.

tabulahrasa · 07/04/2020 13:47

There’s no evidence that dogs can contract it... but they and their collars, leads etc are surfaces touched by someone else, so not the best idea having your dog loose near other people just now.

Also, vets are running on skeleton staff and only seeing emergency cases, so injuries might not get treated, if they get lost - you can’t really go looking for them

Basically if your dog isn’t fully under control, it should be on lead.

rc22 · 07/04/2020 13:49

I don't worry that the dog will give me coronavirus. I'm concerned that if a dog off its lead runs up to me, its owner may come within my 2 metres to retrieve the dog!!

BrooHaHa · 07/04/2020 13:49

This. ^

Danceswithwarthogs · 07/04/2020 13:49

Studies done on dogs which Have tested positive have shown they don’t shed virus sufficiently to infect another dog or human. Theoretically cats shed enough to infect each other.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 07/04/2020 13:50

Have you packed your lycra with your dictionary to be like Linford?

You know fine what goady means.

Anyway -I wouldn’t be worrying about Covid if I were you. I’d be much more concerned at the shite coming out of your mouth.

SilverBangle · 07/04/2020 13:52

Basically if your dog isn’t fully under control, it should be on lead

I think everyone agrees with that.... Even when we are not under threat of contracting Covid 19 from other HUMANS

NiktheGreek · 07/04/2020 13:53

You threw stones at a dog?? Well dont you sound lovely.

mumieone · 07/04/2020 13:56

Chardonnayspetdragon there is another post going on cats and neighbours getting a little annoyed. The reason wasn't explained why they were getting annoyed...littering, covid19 but there is one.

If a strange dog is on you and can't be successfully recalled from a distance, their HUMAN is going to have to retrieve them, which is incredibly likely to breach 2m distancing guidance. Happened to me, I was not impressed.

Alsohuman · 07/04/2020 13:57

You threw stones at a dog?

SilverBangle · 07/04/2020 13:57

You threw stones at a dog??

No - apparently she threw them NEAR the dog 🤔

You can imagine the scene.... Dog owner is shouting, “Fido come here”. Dog is ignoring him because he’s wondering what the fuck he’s supposed to do with the stones some lunatic is throwing NEAR him. Great game! 😂

mumieone · 07/04/2020 13:59

Nikthegreek....it's not a beauty contest. Stay on topic and real the initial post.

Throwing NEAR and throwing AT at two very different scenarios.

If you'd like to open a thread about throwing stones AT animals you will have to open your own I'm afraid.

Just saying dogs should be under control at all times. Not just when there is a threat of Covid 19 🤷🏻‍♀️

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 07/04/2020 14:00

Arf at beauty contest

Great thread.

tabulahrasa · 07/04/2020 14:01

“I think everyone agrees with that.... Even when we are not under threat of contracting Covid 19 from other HUMANS“

Well you’d think so, but years of people telling me their dog is friendly has taught me that’s not what a lot of people think...

To be fair, I’ve noticed that suddenly all the dogs that couldn’t possibly be called away from an ill, recuperating or reactive dog have suddenly learned to recall or are on leads....

mumieone · 07/04/2020 14:02

Awrightdorien...I genuinely do not know what you mean.

Why would I?

Mainstream universities here don't that type of language and I'm not living on the streets.
