Dog owners very irresponsible letting them of leafs on walks knowing they too can spread covid19?

Today on my permitted walk in semi rural area two men having a day on the beach just let thier dog run wild with no consideration for social distancing.

With reports on dogs, cats and the latest tiger having symptoms and testing positive for covid19 should dig owners be allowed to let thier dogs just jump on passers by?

I saw the dog coming and moved about 4 metres away from the men. One just lit up a fab and did nothing and the other watched.

When I moved the dig chased me as I ran to try to climb up a hill. I threw stones near it to try to deter but didn't work and owner eventually took him and said he was being friendly. More like dangerous. I said look we are all trying to social distance and who knows if your dog has covid19 and some of us are trying to keep ourselves and others safe and social distance!

Shouldnt dog owners be more careful?

My dog does not run around the place as I'm on a 12 week lockdown so the poor dog gets walked by a dog walker who is not allowed ( by me) to let her off. But in normal times my dog goes on the beach early morning where if lucky I might see one or two other people and as she is trained to a high proficiency I really don't have to worry. This is not a Covid thread by the way. Just thought I'd mention that.Hmm

Eckhart · 08/04/2020 00:14

You're defences are much higher than any of the recommendations, Flax If you're still going out in public, it's a bit pointless; you're most likely to catch it when you're around people who aren't members of your household, not when you're licking your outdoor shoes after you get home.

Do you bleach your post(man)?

Sostenueto · 08/04/2020 00:16

Even though flax would like it to be but really it's let's have a dig at digiwners thread😁😁😁

Sostenueto · 08/04/2020 00:17

Dogowners*

Santaclauswhosthat · 08/04/2020 00:17

The thread header is about transmission of covid by dogs and prevention of that through leashing them.

Santaclauswhosthat · 08/04/2020 00:19

And it's in the coronavirus section. Confused

doghairismyglitter · 08/04/2020 00:22

@Santaclauswhosthat
Sostenueto has already said her dog does not approach people and comes back on command. So she isn’t shunting any responsibility, she is acting like a responsible dog owner??
I agree, if a dog doesn’t have good recall and is approaching people it should be leaded for the time being due to social distancing (as in owners having to approach others to bring dog back)

OP, there’s nothing worse than someone that writes a thread which they know cause a big heated debate, yet then disappear. Even worse to pm someone about it with harsh unfair words Hmm

Flaxmeadow · 08/04/2020 00:26

Do you bleach your post(man)?

A dog owner concerned about a postman. That makes a refreshing change.

Sostenueto · 08/04/2020 00:26

Yes don't forget cash too. Wash your money!!! And purse and handbag blah blah!

You know what this society I call the ' blame' society. Blame the mutt, blame the goldfish, blame the butterfly, blame other people blame, blame, blame. We are all to blame because we are the humans who have decided as a species to go against nature in so very many ways yet we cannot blame ourselves. Each one of us as members of the same species that caused this virus are responsible for this pandemic. I do not blame the lowly dog or any other living thing. I just blame man.
I've noticed how clear the sky is, how blue the sea has become, how I can hear birdcall all day long. This pandemic has shown how the Earth could be without man's pollution. So that at least, is something to be thankful for.

doghairismyglitter · 08/04/2020 00:27

Flax I’m sure you didn’t mean it to be, but that’s the funniest thing you’ve said Grin

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 08/04/2020 00:29

Break time.

And no pm for me from the first timer goady one. I am disappointed.

I called you out from the get go OP. I wasn’t wrong.

Sorry you got it on the neck eckhart

Still you got the bunfight you wanted. Slow. Hand. Clap.

First timer my hoop.

Santaclauswhosthat · 08/04/2020 00:30

@doghairismyglitter all dog owners say that though. Anyway, she's also just said that her dog isn't off the lead for the foreseeable and further has said that everyone should wash their clothes all the time so that dogs can run around and that this isn't a covid thread when it blatantly is so to be frank I cba trying to figure out just what the fuck she is banging on about or why.

Sostenueto · 08/04/2020 00:32
mumieone · 08/04/2020 00:36

Ekart ..I just figured I've been messaging rather than posting. Wondered where my posts vanished. To be new!

Reposting:
And even if your dog is not on a lead and you're walking towards someone and you see your dog charging at them - do something about it. I do not know a single person who goes on walks that loves to be jumped on and scratched by strange dogs. That's such a huge expectation you're putting on someone you don't even know to expect them to be ok with it and if they are not ok with it your label them as cruel. You are the horrid cruel one putting people in danger with your dog and also from a virus.

It's like assuming that just because someone likes to go to a pub they would enjoy getting pissed.

@Santaclauswhosthat I’m a dog owner and I don’t say that. My dog isn’t interested in humans whatever but he has a shit recall if he sees a cat/rabbit/fox. I hold my hands up that he’s crap like that! But he’s on the lead for the foreseeable anyway.

SilverBangle · 08/04/2020 00:39

😂😂😂 Nice one Mumie, pretending you don’t know what you’re doing 😂

On that note exactly what were you doing throwing stones NEAR a dog- and why?

Eckhart · 08/04/2020 00:40

A dog owner concerned about a postman. That makes a refreshing change

Oh no. Maybe you'll have to admit that dog owners aren't all the same.

@santaclauswhosthat all dog owners say that Weak argument. D'you think there's a script we learn? If not, is it possible that, given that we're a massive, varied group of people who mostly don't know each other, we might have a point? You know, if we've all reached a similar conclusion independently?

Sostenueto · 08/04/2020 00:43

santa this thread although title says about Covid and leashing dogs was in fact, a misleading title as it was blatently to wind up dog owners and cause argument. Hence me saying it was not what the title implied.
I do let my well trained dog off in areas that are appropriate to do so in normal times.
Never in an almost lifetime of owning staffies, bull mastiffs have I ever had any incident with other dogs, aggression or jumping up at people or children because all my dogs have been trained from puphood ( 12 weeks old). There are twice as many responsible dog owners as there are irresponsible dog owners. Never have I said that I do not agree with leashing dogs during lockdown. So hope this has cleared things up for you.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 08/04/2020 00:47

And what dog jumped up and scratched someone OP? Not the one that ran towards you surely? It was far away enough for you to throw stones near it.

You want buns dearie? Got em.

Exactly the point. Dog leads come in pretty long lengths for a dog to run.

Sostenueto · 08/04/2020 00:53

Not sure how you can mistake type here then press pm button mumieoneConfused

Eckhart · 08/04/2020 00:56

@mumieone got mixed up between messages and the thread, and accidentally sent a private insult to me. I'd find that quite hard to do. It's a completely different screen and you've got to go through a few clicks, via a big envelope sign, the one that generally denotes pms.

I'm on an iPad though. Might this be quite easy to muddle up, on, say, a phone or something?

Sostenueto · 08/04/2020 00:57

Nope.

doghairismyglitter · 08/04/2020 00:59

No, cop out excuse from OP

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 08/04/2020 01:01

I’d do a coughing boulechit but given the idiocy shown by some, An accusation of trying to infect someone would ensue.

My hoop still does not feel mistaken.
