What on Earth is up with everyone? Is isolation making people crazy?

I went for a walk with my baby and there was a guy with his ten year old son both walking towards us from the opposite direction. I veered to the right so he can have the left hand side of the path but instead he charged at me and stood right in front of my pram with his arms spread out almost challenging me to do something... then he walked off. Once the bizarreness of it all wore off I've just realised what an imbecile he is!

Guarantee he wouldn't have done this if you were a bloke btw
True!!

StuckInnTheMiddle · 06/04/2020 15:02

We’ve had issues with groups of local youths (probably around 10-13 years old) hanging around near the parade of shops, coughing at elderly people when they pass. This started before lockdown and has gotten better in the last week as there’s a bigger police presence. The thing is, you can almost expect it from young kids but grown adult. Ffs I don’t know what wrong with people

Sunshineeeee · 06/04/2020 15:17

@artemisalways he looked around as much. I teach that age group and he looked roughly the same age.

GatoradeMeBitch · 06/04/2020 15:22

He needed to charge his "I'm a big scary man I am" battery. This can only be done by threatening someone who can't fight back...

Poppi89 · 06/04/2020 15:24

@Randomschoolworker19 That is terrible! I don't understand how the people on these posts can't understand how much they're embarrassing themselves and that they're not being cool or funny they're just twats.

Bigjobbiewheecker · 06/04/2020 15:25

Homeless have been put in the b and bs next to my work (hospital), they've been spitting at people. We're not aloud in back entrance now.

Pinkypink · 06/04/2020 15:26

Sometimes simplest explanations are most accurate.
The man is a twat.

MargotB7 · 06/04/2020 15:30

How did you know his son was 10 ?

Does it matter? I presumed OP was guessing he was about that age.

Agree, the man is a twat.

Sophiesdog2020 · 06/04/2020 15:34

I have just got back from walking the dog around our small town.

On the main road back towards home, I crossed over to give distance to a BT engineer working at a roadside kiosk. There was then a woman in front with a pram and a small child on a scooter, but plenty of space between us.

A couple (I would guess in their 70s At least) were coming towards us.

Before I could cross again to avoid them, the woman herself crossed over BUT the man didn’t, so we had a situation where they were walking parallel to each other on opposite sides of the road. There was no point in me crossing to avoid him, as I would then be walking towards his wife!!

As he passed both me and the lady in front, he stepped off the curb and we both walked as far from curb as possible but I don’t think there was 2m clearance.

Very very bizarre, why didn't they both cross to the other side?

mencken · 06/04/2020 15:37

as I've said before, it is a pity that this virus doesn't only infect the stupid - we'd be a much better species.

people have deservedly been prosecuted for coughing or sneezing at others, I think someone has been jailed. Not so funny then, is it?

Kazzyhoward · 06/04/2020 15:39

At our local NHS trusts you can’t wear your uniform out of work full stop, pandemic or not. It’s basic cross contamination policy. Only NhS uniforms I see on the street are community nurses and they may have different protocols right now.

Must not be across the board as I've just seen a parademic in our local post office - full uniform, not on duty as he walked off with his wife/partner. I'd have thought that goes way against basic hygiene rules.

LilacTree1 · 06/04/2020 15:45

Random That’s bloody awful. The police should definitely be looking at that.

Are you in London? Most people are wearing masks, I feel odd not having one.

OP, yes, he wouldn’t do that to a bloke.

DishingOutDone · 06/04/2020 15:49

Interesting, I thought it must be me but this happened to me the other day, a couple were deliberately blocking my way on the footpath so I tried to step into the road to avoid them, let them pass etc, instead they started shouting at me about how stupid I was. At the time I thought it was something to do with the area I live in but reading all these accounts it seems its definitely a "thing".

Hoggleludo · 06/04/2020 15:49

I was filmed with my kids a few weeks ago....no idea why. He was the ONLY person we saw in 3 hrs!

I don't think he liked seeing the children out for a walk....

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 06/04/2020 15:54

He did behave like a twat, but maybe you should have kept to left, instead of veering to the right?

I always thought it's keep to the left when walking.

DishingOutDone · 06/04/2020 15:56

@ChardonnaysPetDragon you seriously think he was provoked by OP's veering being "wrong"?! Hmm

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 06/04/2020 15:58

No I did say he was a twat, and he should not have charged at OP.

But keeping to left makes things easier.

angieloumc · 06/04/2020 16:07

What an absolute idiot!
I was in Asda last Thursday, following the arrows as your meant to; a man came down towards me with I'd say two 11-14 year olds, I moved out of the way as obviously didn't want to be near him. Same thing happened on the next aisle. On the third aisle I was irritated and said 'you know you're meant to be following the arrows'
'shut up you fat fucking bitch' says he. I laugh because what a fool he is. 'Stuck up fucking cow'. He continues.
What a shining example to his two children he was.

Marieo · 06/04/2020 16:09

Eurgh, most people here are okay and whoever it is easier for will move out of the way, but usually with the pram I have to go into the road a few times on a 30 mins walk which is fine, but usually it's followed by a comment about not being out with a pram, when I've done all of the moving and not disturbed their walk at all!

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 06/04/2020 16:09

People get off on lauding what little they have over people.

Next time say, "Havent you heard? Corona makes the penis shrivel up and drop off."

Isolation is turning people into twats.

angieloumc · 06/04/2020 16:09

*you're meant to! Apologies for the useless grammar.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 06/04/2020 16:10

Think walking on the pavement threads will be the new parking threads.
I had my own dickhead experience today. I live in a small ne town with lots of little alleys (which I have to walk down to get home from anywhere) I was walking back from vets and was about half way down one when a woman and two kids started walking into the alley from the other end. Ok, enough room if we all stood close to the wall, which I did. Did she? No, she and her kids spread right across the path. I said excuse me, but she blanked me. I walked back to the main road. She said something to her oldest kid as she walked past and they both turned and laughed. Fuck wit.

Hoggleludo · 06/04/2020 16:12

@TaliZorahVasNormandy

Oh my god!!!! I'm using that next time!

That's genius!!!

morecoffeerequired · 06/04/2020 16:13

I had similar happen to me in the supermarket the other day. Several, almost exclusively young and male. They march straight at you and expect you to leap out of their way.

If it happens again, I shall make full use of the front corner of the shopping trolley; and my voice, which I can adapt to parade-ground levels if necessary.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 06/04/2020 16:17

@Hoggleludo, pity it's not the case huh? A direct threat to the manhood would have all men hiding under the bed covers for the next 3 months.
