Just so I’m clear: no visiting family even if 2 metres away?

I’m right yes?

OP posts:
CoffeeRunner · 04/04/2020 15:54

Yes.

HoffiCoffi13 · 04/04/2020 15:54

Yes

user127819 · 04/04/2020 15:54

Yes. The 2m rule is for when you must go out where other people are. You can still catch coronavirus from someone 2m away, if they cough or sneeze.

NC4Now · 04/04/2020 15:54

Yes

CodenameVillanelle · 04/04/2020 15:54

Yep. No visiting anyone.

Etinox · 04/04/2020 15:55

Correct.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 04/04/2020 15:55

No you can not visit family

The 2 meter rule is for when you absolutely have to leave your home for work that you can not do from home, food, medicine or exercise

LolaSmiles · 04/04/2020 15:55

Yes.

I'm doing some shopping for a vulnerable family member and we see each other across their front garden. Others have been doing similar deliveries on our street so there's been quite a few conversations down drives or out of upstairs windows Grin

BuffaloCauliflower · 04/04/2020 15:56

No one is to have any visitors in their home, or visit anyone else’s home. The 2m distance is how far you need to stay away from other when you’re in shops or walking

Marypoppins19 · 04/04/2020 15:56

Thank you
I’m getting a bit 😡 at my sister who seems to think these rules don’t apply to her

OP posts:
Poppinjay · 04/04/2020 15:56

The two metre rule is for when you're doing something essential like working in the same environment or shopping at the same time. Visiting family isn't essential and not worth the risk.

ineedaholidaynow · 04/04/2020 15:56

I drop off food to my elderly DM, but leave it at the front door and then step back to the other side of the road and briefly talk to her, but that is as far as visiting goes. But she needs me to shop for her and she lives between me and the supermarket, so not making a special journey to see her.

Mawbags · 04/04/2020 15:57

Why do you even have to ask this?

In an ideal world we wouldn’t be leaving the house at all.

northernlittledonkey · 04/04/2020 15:57

I’m going to see my Mum tomorrow but she’s one of the shielded people & is refusing local help. So, I’m going to drop round food for her, clean the kitchen whilst she stays in the garden & then come home. I’ve also arranged for a couple of local volunteers to say hello when I’m there too & arrange for them a way to pay for the shopping.

Jellycatfox · 04/04/2020 15:58

You can leave the house for three reasons:
Go to work if you can’t work from home
Buy food
Buy medicines or attend a medical appointment

Three simple things

Jellycatfox · 04/04/2020 15:58

Oh and exercise once a day!

Bingeslayer · 04/04/2020 15:58

Yep,my mum was trying to convince me to visit with the kids this weekend,"we'll sit out the garden 2m apart","no mum I'm not allowed at your house full stop, unless to drop food on doorstep",she has copd fgs! !

SouthernComforts · 04/04/2020 15:59

I drove up my mums drive earlier after my food shop to say hello, she stood in her doorway and I cracked my car window 10 feet away, call 999!

NeedAUsernameGenerator · 04/04/2020 16:00

I think it's ok to chat from the driveway if the person is vulnerable and you're dropping off shopping/essentials but personally I would go further than 2m. Otherwise no.

Frankiecandle · 04/04/2020 16:00

You can leave the house for exercise too. So 4 things.

Bluewavescrashing · 04/04/2020 16:00

My neighbours are both doctors. Yesterday a friend visited them in her car and sat on their drive chatting to them for an hour.

northernlittledonkey · 04/04/2020 16:01

Honestly, if there was an alternative I wouldn’t be going. She’s also refusing to sort out online shopping, but I thought I’d sign her up tomorrow when I’m there & try and place an order.

PurpleDaisies · 04/04/2020 16:03

I’ve chatted while dropping food off from the end of the garden.

missmouse101 · 04/04/2020 16:05

@SouthernComforts, shame you had to 'crack' your window. Do you own a telephone? Hmm

missmouse101 · 04/04/2020 16:07

Yes OP, no visiting family. You can drop food/meds to them observing the distance rule, but that's it.
