What do you all think of 5G?

I've heard so much about it but don't quite get it. I have so many questions.
Is it safe, does it cause cancer, is the lockdown to place 5G satellites everywhere,

No, I just want somebody to try and answer my question Confused

@Fallsballs some 'opinions' are dangerous stupidity and should absolutely be called out. There is no redeeming value to being a conspiracy theorist and their arguments should not be taken seriously by anyone with a brain. Nor is anyone required to 'respect' such drivel when they hear it spouted. They're entitled to believe what they want, of course, and they're entitled to try to spread their delusions far and wide. We live in a free country (even if they don't think so!). But people are equally entitled to comment on dangerous nonsense when they see it being spread. We probably shouldn't though, you're right because I'm quite sure taking them seriously enough to debate them only make conspiracy theorists worse and more entrenched in their theories.

mindproject · 05/04/2020 12:15

The conspiracy theorists are at best providing valuable information or insight into the way the world works.

At worst, they are providing much needed entertainment at a time when people really need entertaining.

Take your pick. You don't have to believe the opinions of another person, or the opinions you hear on the TV. You can make your own mind up.

mindproject · 05/04/2020 12:17

Make the most of being able to make your own mind up and the most of free will. These things are rapidly disappearing, without a wimper from most people.

Fallsballs · 05/04/2020 12:27

I never said anything about taking other people’s opinion seriously - I said they shouldn’t be berated for having a viewpoint.
You say it’s dangerous - that’s your opinion.
There is room for open discussion unless you are a fan of the China regime.

nauticant · 05/04/2020 12:33

Some opinions do not deserve respect. Opinions that lead to people gathering in mobs and destroying infrastructure that in the present crisis is more valuable than normal don't deserve respect. Nor do ones which misrepresent what Coronavirus is and therefore mislead on the measures that are advisable to deal with it.

tilder · 05/04/2020 12:33

Aside from the bonkers aspects ..

If you want to cull a population, you wouldn't target the old. To cull a population those of breeding age (or yet to breed) would be targeted.

Thank fuck that conspiracy theories are bullshit then. Covid is hideous enough without that.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/04/2020 12:34

Really? me (Birmingham) people set a mast on fire this week.

Dangerous, and it's cutting off people's communications (making it harder to maintain social distancing), wasting loads of other people's money at a time when that's completely unacceptable, making unnecessary work for the communications engineers. It's not remotely 'entertaining' Hmm

myrtleWilson · 05/04/2020 12:35

falls are you seriously saying that a viewpoint that 5G has helped a virus jump from animal to human, or that prisoners are to be released to enable a population cull should not be upbraided because the posts that are receiving that berating are saying exactly that.

For clarity, the OP did not say either of those things

5g cause women to stay in kitchen and men work

JaneJeffer · 06/04/2020 22:28

I'm not sure if this is meant to be a joke or not Grin

What does everyone think of 5G?
Rocaille · 06/04/2020 23:14

I'm concerned about 5G from the perspectives of health, civil liberties & national security.

The 5G/Covid-19 conspiracy theory sounds bonkers though.

BubblyBarbara · 06/04/2020 23:40

People who want to criticise anti 5G campaigners are standing against centuries of free speech in this country which is an insult to those who fought and died for that right.

Erm... can you expand please?

Maybe111 · 06/04/2020 23:48

My aunty she works for government she said 5g makes women stay in kitchen and men work. It been confirmed on WhatsApp video aswell

Titsywoo · 06/04/2020 23:48

5g has been in parts of london for 2 years. People are bloody idiots believing this crap. A friend who works in telecoms was so angry today as people burned down some 5g masts but by doing so affected other communications including 999 calls.

SomethingOnce · 06/04/2020 23:53

The major risk with 5G, as I see it, is that it might make my MN timewasting that bit easier.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 07/04/2020 00:00

How does that work with women who are frontline workers then?
As in NHS just for an example?
Doctors, nurses?
How do they stay at home in the kitchen?
I'd have thought they had to keep working....
Or how about shop workers? Keeping the supermarkets open for people to get food?
Do you have a link to whatsapp video?

Sad

We should just skip to 6G and miss 5G

PickAChew · 07/04/2020 00:03

5hink of the kittenz!

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 07/04/2020 00:38

We should just skip to 6G and miss 5G

Maybe 6G will have us all abandoning earth and going to live on the moon under domes....

Rebelwithallthecause · 07/04/2020 00:47

We really don’t need it

I’d rather we didn’t get it

I wish people would stop saying it causes COVID

Rebelwithallthecause · 07/04/2020 00:50

It’s been around in Bristol for at least a year

Before people could blame 5g for COVID they were putting the blame on it for suicides in the area
