I'm not using anything different to what I normally use, for the simple reason that I couldn't find anything in stock so have had to make do with what I have.
I have half a bottle of Dettol Antibacterial spray left, which I use to disinfect door handles and such.
For general worktop cleaning, I use a Flash spray, and then rinse dishcloth out and wipe again with clean dishcloth.
I tried to buy Dettol but couldn't find it anywhere.
For floors, you're going to laugh or tell me that I'm killing myself slowly, but I use Jeyes Fluid (because I love the smell of it).
I use bleach down the toilet and again a Flash bathroom cleaner for bathroom.
I polish bathroom with vinegar.
I polish kitchen sink and cooker top with vinegar and counter tops with pledge.
In the bedroom I use Flash on the floors.

Third bleach with two thirds water made up in a spray bottle for surfaces, handles etc
Polish in living room as normal as only me in there
Bleach down the loo. I'm definitely spending less but I hate the smell!

Balmytissues · 03/04/2020 14:21

They locked up your pink stuff??????? The bastards!!

Balmytissues · 03/04/2020 14:22

I sometimes use thick bleach diluted to mop the floors and I like the smell as it reminds me of the swimming pool lol

Only thing for it is to hold their mop hostage until they return the pink stuff.

Zoflora on pretty much everything.

Afternooninthepark · 03/04/2020 14:31

I’ve never been much of a cleaner but all this has brought out the ocd in me and now I’m cleaning like a loon.
I clean the kitchen worktops, fridge handles and cupboard handles every day with disinfectant.
Spray the door handles and front door handles with dettol spray every couple of days.
Wash the floor with disinfectant every couple of days.
Clean the loos with bleach or disinfectant every few days.
Sinks with pink stuff once a week.
Wash the dogs paws after every walk out, daily.
I read the other day to see outside as the red zone and your home as the green zone so I now get the kids to take off their shoes at the front door then I dip them in disinfectant (the shoes not the kids!)
Seriously though, I think I am really cleaning too much.

CanadaPolice · 03/04/2020 14:32

Only one person going out when necessary to buy food. House is staying amazingly clean.
Just using washing up liquid in hot water for wiping surfaces that people touch frequently like door handles, fridge, kitchen cupboards. I always wipe kitchen surfaces before and after food prep anyway.

I have bathroom spray cleaner in the bathroom and ordinary floor cleaning stuff.

Nobody is visiting to see it anyway, so I am not doing very much general cleaning at all. (Though really I should be taking the opportunity to spring clean, I prefer Netflix).

frumpety · 03/04/2020 14:38

Not very good at cleaning, but sling bleach down the loo, wipe worktops with washing up cloth, random spray for bathrooms, floors bit of a flick over with a mop and very dilute bleach when I remember. Hoping the natural biofilm of Chez Frumpety will kill anything else Wink

Lelivre · 03/04/2020 14:44

I’m filling up my empty method bottles with bleach 10% a squirt of washing up liquid and spraying bathroom down then leaving rather than breathing in, then going back to wipe and rinse.

Sloff · 03/04/2020 14:49

Bleach spray on a cloth for door edges, handles, light switches, toilet flushes, (cat), doorbell, (husband), kitchen tops, fridge edges and the holes that are meant to be handles, kitchen cupboard knobs.

90% alcohol spray on shopping bag handles, car door handles, keys, and anyone that comes too close.

Keys also get a soapy wash and drip dry after use, along with hands.

Lelivre · 03/04/2020 15:00

I honestly haven’t worried about shopping and packaging until now

CrowleysBentley · 03/04/2020 15:24

The only time anyone is going out is when DD or DS go for a walk. I ask them to wipe the front door and bathroom door handles, nad bathroom light switch over with clinell wipe or spray after they shower and they chuck their clothes straight in the washing machine as I'm in the extremely vulnerable group.

Any packaging gets chucked straight out where possible when things are delivered (cat looks heartbroken every time a box gets chucked without him getting to sleep in it or destroy it first), otherwise things are wiped over or washed, and then hands washed.

Hot soapy water or bleach both work just as well apparently. The rest of the flat gets its usual haphazard cleaning using hot soapy water or bleach. I had to stop 19 y/o DD from cleaning so much, she was getting really anxious and starting to go OTT with it, because she's scared that I'll catch it. We've also agreed that the news is only to be on for half an hour a day now, and she's finding other things to do to keep occupied.

H1978 · 03/04/2020 15:26

Same products as usual, I’m a daily cleaner at the moment with everyone at home

Littleshortcake · 03/04/2020 15:30

We are not going out and If I do I sanitize my hands and shower as soon as I get in.
I'm just using a mild bleach solution as usual (very tiny drop of bleach in water). I'm finding I am cleaning more than usual as we are eating all meals at home and kids mostly indoor (same as most people)

MotorwayDiva · 03/04/2020 15:33

I've got all the part bottles cleaning products which had been at back off cupboard and using them up, but bleach in the bathrooms and door handles.
After they are gone I got some zoflora so giving that a go.
Cleaning daily as need to keep busy, used to be a quick few hours a week!

Scruffyoak · 03/04/2020 15:36

Clinel wipes
Dettol
Milton etc

JonHammIsMyJamm · 03/04/2020 15:40

Usual.

About 1/4 of a scoop of biological powder in boiling water on my hard floors (not the wood). The downstairs gets mopped about 3x a week as we have a dog. It gets vacuumed every day.

Washing up liquid & hot water on surfaces and hob top every time they are used, before & after.

Spray cleaner on kitchen cupboard doors & knobs, probably once a week/when I remember. It’s probably a bit more often now, tbh.

Lightswitches/doorhandles/bannisters/keyholes etc get wiped daily with hot soapy water (washing up liquid).

JonHammIsMyJamm · 03/04/2020 15:42

I do have a bottle of Zoflora and a Milton but I haven’t used them yet. I suspect they’ll come out if one of us develops symptoms but I’m avoiding them at the moment as they aren’t great for pets, human airways or waterways.

Mustbetimeforachange · 03/04/2020 15:47

I thought anti bac was really bad as it just selects out the bacteria that can resist it (the 0.1% - if they grow exponentially your work surfaces/cloths will just be colonised by those pretty quickly). Also they are anti bac not anti viral, presumably? Hot soapy water here. Clinell wipes on light switches etc.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 03/04/2020 15:51

Most ‘anti bac’ sprays are also anti viral (like Dettol surface spray). They just use the ‘antibacterial’ bit as the big marketing headline.

Mustbetimeforachange · 03/04/2020 15:56

Oh, I see. Maybe worth using then? Although I think detergent & water are probably as effective?

Saucery · 03/04/2020 15:59

Yes, the Sainsbury’s own brand antibac I’ve been using for a while says on the back in tiny writing it is efficient in killing viruses. But I’d be using that in the kitchen anyway as it smells nice but doesn’t leave a taint.
Just using bleach solution /Dettol on entry points to the house, door handles, banisters etc.

Womenwotlunch · 03/04/2020 16:03

I am obsessed with cleaning products and therefore had a healthy stash before the coronavirus
I clean daily
Dettol antibacterial wipes/ spray- can also be used for viruses
Toilet cleaner from B and Q
Zoflora
Dettol liquid disinfectant for bathroom and kitchen floor.
Wood cleaner for living/ dining room and granny annexe- clean three times a week
Flash for bathrooms or Cif power and shine
Brasso for metal

Stainless steel cleaners for hob
Limescale remover for taps
White vinegar for glass/ windows
Kitchen cleaner for kitchen worktops
Bleach once a week in toilets
Leather cleaning wipes for sofas
Mr sheen for wood surfaces

JonHammIsMyJamm · 03/04/2020 16:04

Soap and water is recommended by all of the virologists I’ve seen interviewed on the tv as viruses have a protective fatty coating/capsule and soap breaks it down which kills it.

www.nationalgeographic.co.uk/science-and-technology/2020/03/why-soap-preferable-bleach-fight-against-coronavirus

catsandlavender · 03/04/2020 16:44

Few times a week - Bleach in the toilet, flash with bleach on sink and bath, germ clear disinfectant on everything, disinfectant on the floors, bleach cream cleaner on the sink.

Daily I’m just wiping the sides down with disinfectant and disinfecting anything we touch if we’ve been out e.g keys, door handle. I don’t see the need to disinfect loads if we aren’t going out that day.

The mad bleaching weekly stuff I do if I start to get anxious because cleaning gives me a false sense of security Grin
