Nightingale Hospital will we ever see pictures of it operating?

We have constantly seen pictures of the Nightingale hospital being built. Almost every news broadcast is full of them.
It is due to go operational and I wonder if we will ever see film from inside when it does.
There has been filming done from high vantage points which could be safe to continue to show.
I wonder?

I imagine someone will take photos on the sly, more likely than not to show how bad it is.

meditrina · 03/04/2020 08:27

It would not be fair on patients to allow filming or photographs.

Though if controlled, then perhaps they could let in a pool camera operator from time to time, to film in ways that are not unfairly intrusive

Friendsofmine · 03/04/2020 08:37

No one will take pictures of staff or patients because it is unethical and disciplinary. However staff may take pictures of themselves which could be posted on Trusts SM etc with approval. The media may be allowed in before it opens I imagine too.

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 03/04/2020 08:43

I think it would be totally unethical to film it when operational if it is only intended for ventilated patients. We don't have people filming those in ventilators in ICU in other hospitals. Or do we?

Why would people want to see such a thing anyway?

Helpmechangemymindsetplease · 03/04/2020 08:46

I was wondering this.

We have seen the inside of ICUs in Italy and Spain etc when doctors are being interviewed though? Sometimes with patients’ faces blurred out, and if not blurred, you just don’t see their faces.

There is something very frightening about the layout at NHS Nightingale.

satansbumhole · 03/04/2020 08:49

if carefully taken pictures were to be taken (faces blurred etc) of it full of people, then it might give some who arn`t taking the virus seriously a nudge?

squashyhat · 03/04/2020 08:51

If some bloody journo came and stuck a camera in my face while ill in hospital I would RIP it from their hands, blurred image or not.

satansbumhole · 03/04/2020 08:51

at the monent the pictures we see are of italy etc. people need to see our own hospitals in similar circumstances to "get it" that social distancing etc really IS needed. This isn`t just something happeneing far away.

Casino218 · 03/04/2020 08:55

The one opening in Birmingham will be for those who they cannot save. Do you want pictures of that too?

bluewafflewithmayo · 03/04/2020 09:05

What kind of ghoul would want to see pictures?

I know there are some sick individuals on Mumsnet but this takes the biscuit.

TheReelSlimShady · 03/04/2020 09:09

I hope not. How disrespectful for the patients!

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 03/04/2020 09:11

I do doubt it. If we do I think they will be very staged

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 03/04/2020 09:17

I think being seriously ill in hospital is a time and place where there should be a reasonable expectation of privacy.

I wouidn't want to be photographed at all in those circumstances, and definitely wouid not consent for my image to be published.

If they want to take images where patients, staff and NOK of non-responsive patients have consented, then OK I suppose. Might be useful for the official record (and idc the history books).

But a bit intrusive and ghoulish for immediate publication. Though there will always be tricoteuses who will like it

^^ This

CeibaTree · 03/04/2020 09:24

I may be missing something here, but why would you want/need to see the inside of it unless you were desperately ill?

Gfplux · 03/04/2020 11:56

Surely we have had enough of a Government over promising and under delivering.
The Nightingale is a very BIG promise. Don’t we deserve to se if it actually is in operation?
Does big brother control the news in Britain.
We see so many images from inside hospitals in France, Spain, Italy and others but Britain?
This is not about privacy but about honesty from the Government.

What's wrong with you?

A significant number of people in that hospital will be DYING.
Do you want to see that on camera?

If a single one of my relatives gets filmed in hospital with CV19 to satisfy people like you I'll be consulting lawyers- blurred faces or not.

Cornettoninja · 03/04/2020 11:59

I imagine it will be recorded for historic evidence much like the army employ the use of photography.

Whether the media is allowed access to those images right now I don’t know. Morally I don’t think they should be, I wouldn’t like to be splashed all over the Internet, but I don’t know what justifications might be used. We’ve seen plenty of images of people from other countries in very vulnerable circumstances.

poshme · 03/04/2020 11:59

IT IS ABOUT PRIVACY

covetingthepreciousthings · 03/04/2020 12:05

I also think there will be some evidence recorded for historical purposes.

I also think it depends how it runs and how well it goes, I think if things are felt by staff there to be covered up or if the situation ends up worse than imagined then there might be staff taking video / photo evidence to show to the real side to the hospital. As seemed to happen in Italy / China to show the death rate wasn't being reported correctly.

I however think the media should be very careful about any pictures etc showing the hospital when it's working.

Personally I don't want to see anything from inside it unless it's positive..

MinkowskisButterfly · 03/04/2020 12:06

Fuck me. If that was you or your family laying in those beds, DYING, would you want those pictures splashed across the media. Why? Just why do you need to see rows and rows of dying people?

Makeitgoaway · 03/04/2020 12:08

I thought you meant "the opening" which apparently Prince Charles is to do but does seem rather unnecessary travel for him and his security etc.

I'd hope there aren't publically available detailed pictures from inside once it's operational, although some for the history books would be good.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 03/04/2020 12:11

I bloody hope not. What's wrong with you?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 03/04/2020 12:15

Why would anyone want to see a picture of it in operation? I think it's bad enough the press are printing pictures of people who have died. I've told DH that, if I'm unlucky enough to die of Covid-19, I don't want my picture or name anywhere near the press.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 03/04/2020 12:16

Not that I think I would be interesting enough, but with the press today who knows?
