Nightingale Hospital will we ever see pictures of it operating?

We have constantly seen pictures of the Nightingale hospital being built. Almost every news broadcast is full of them.
It is due to go operational and I wonder if we will ever see film from inside when it does.
There has been filming done from high vantage points which could be safe to continue to show.
I wonder?

I hope we don’t get to see it operating, but we have sent in pictures that dc has drawn after school asked for it. They want to decorate empty walls with messages of hope and pictures drawn by young children. Now that is sweet but I have no idea who would do this job.

It's a hoax - NHS Nightingale have said this request has not come from them, and them don't want physical pictures.

seriously wtf, how does this thought even cross your mind??!

okiedokieme · 03/04/2020 14:20

I suspect the governments publicity machine will ensure there is plenty of pictures if it's advantageous to them. Not a cynic honest! They will obviously have to protect confidentiality but it's possible to get footage from a distance - it's newsworthy so I'm not actually surprised people are interested

SwimForBrighterDays · 03/04/2020 14:27

Not sure why you'd want to watch. It's not Big Brother.

However, I imagine for documentation purposes there will be some video footage.

TheArchSorcererofContwaraburg · 03/04/2020 14:29

” Don’t we deserve to se if it actually is in operation?”

So you think critically ill people deserve to have their photos taken for fucking sick ghouls and tourists to gawp over? Seriously?! You'd be happy for you or your child or your loved one to serve as fodder for twisted freaks for whom this is even a thought during a global pandemic that's killing thousands, that their whacked out need to feed on other peoples' misery, illness and death is in any way a priority?

Fucking hell.

Menora · 03/04/2020 14:31

There is enough to keep me up at night already thanks without having to see photos of the poor people in this hospital. Just very wrong

DreamingofSunshine · 03/04/2020 15:02

@Casino218 do you have any more info on the Birmingham one being for people too ill to treat?

Casino218 · 03/04/2020 15:06

@DreamingofSunshine a number of the beds will be palliative. Not all the beds. I won't disclose how I know if that's ok.

ViciousJackdaw · 03/04/2020 15:41

Yes, a female doctor with a male nurse, both BAME to show the Tories are inclusive, standing over the bed of a smiling child with a cute cuddly toy. Boris, suitably dishevelled, shaking hands with an NHS worker wearing a hijab. Hancock, ladling mashed spud onto a plate in the canteen. We'll only see the pictures they want us to see.

inflam · 03/04/2020 15:46

I'm not sure you are telling anybody a big new secret here.

iVampire · 03/04/2020 16:52

They’ve just had the head of Nightingale palliative care talking on the BBC. It’s not an exact synonym for end-of-life care, but unfortunately that will probably be an important part of its work

Someone on Beeb also said that not everyone will be in a ventilator, but all will be HD/critical/intensive care

That’s not really photo op fodder

covetingthepreciousthings · 03/04/2020 17:02

Someone on Beeb also said that not everyone will be in a ventilator, but all will be HD/critical/intensive care*

Has this changed? I thought originally it was said that it wouldn't be for the intensive care patients but would be more for those patients who weren't so critical and would be likely to recover? Which made sense as it's going to be staffed by people like air crew?

That might be have just been an unsubstantiated rumour when it was announced and not official.

Can anyone confirm whether it was originally announced in that way?

covetingthepreciousthings · 03/04/2020 17:03

Sorry, bold fail in that last post.

Mumlove5 · 03/04/2020 17:06

I hope all of these beds will not fill up. Do you think there’s a chance they won’t?🙏🏻

ChiaraRimini · 03/04/2020 17:10

People should google the Javits Center in New York for comparison. They are turning that into a field hospital but the beds appear to have no ventilators or medical supplies, and the beds themselves look like camp beds compared to the ones in the Nightingale.

Cornettoninja · 03/04/2020 17:12

I feel so sorry for New Yorkers. From what I’ve read their mayor has been trying desperately to get a handle on the situation without much support from Washington. I’ve no idea how he reacted to covid earlier in the year but he’s really trying I think.

iVampire · 03/04/2020 17:16

From BBC website today:

‘ London's Nightingale hospital initially has 500 beds in place, with space for another 3,500. It will care for patients with the virus in intensive care who have been transferred from other London hospitals.’

truthisarevolutionaryact · 03/04/2020 17:21

Wow. There have been some pretty awful threads on Mumsnet recently but this one goes to the top of the awful pile. You are actually demanding that the critically ill / dying are filmed to satisfy your curiosity?
Have my first ever Biscuit for being a very special ghoul.

RNlife · 03/04/2020 19:49

Very insensitive post. Why would you want to see inside? Basic privacy and dignity need to be noted here. No one cares about seeing the inside of every other hospital usually?

Menora · 03/04/2020 20:05

I have been hoping that the Nightingale will help normal hospitals to become areas where other sick people can stay or visit with less risk. By putting patients into one area I would hope that this would ‘free up’ some safer cleaner spaces for for instance cancer patients

This is the intention of hot and cold sites

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 03/04/2020 20:09

Casino

The one in Birmingham will be predominately step down.

GreytExpectations · 03/04/2020 20:12

What is wrong with you OP? You want to see pictures and videos if seriously ill patients? That's absolutely vile of you.

LavenderQuartz · 03/04/2020 20:14

it looks like a place to go to die, its grim enough without the patients in it
