Does anyone else feel really grotty by about 3pm being stuck in the house all day?

My teenage daughter and I do. Like we need a shower. I don’t know if it’s the central heating/lack of fresh air or boredom of the same scenery everyday 🤷‍♀️

We are both out for an hour run every morning and then she plays netball in our garden at lunch and after ‘school’

Ugh

Anyone else feel like this?

I would do if I could get up much before 11!

Maybe stay in bed later?

RefuseTheLies · 01/04/2020 15:32

I’ve usually got a splitting headache by 2pm / 3pm, and have run out of enthusiasm for arts and crafts and playing with my 4 year old. This is the time of day she gets an iPad and I have a little doze on the couch to recharge.

SmileyClare · 01/04/2020 15:43

It definitely helps to get fresh air and natural light outside. Perhaps some days mix it up and do your exercise in the afternoon? Make use of the garden too. I hate gardening but like to sit out and read a book (in a jumper if necessary)

Sun is your best source of Vit D essential for health so get out for parts of the day.

I agree though, the lack of routine and boredom is leaving everyone feeling sluggish and meh.

Topseyt · 01/04/2020 15:45

Yes, I do. That is why it is the time of day I generally choose to go out and do my daily exercise (a decent walk).

I work (from home) in the morning and go out for my walk in the afternoon. That is what works best for me at the moment.

WhenYouveAFirstInEnglish · 01/04/2020 15:47

Yes me, feel grotbags by 3ish. Am much happier at work but have to be off this week and on annual leave next! It’s probably at this time you are best off doing your exercise.

4yo just fallen asleep on me! Unheard of, we are all completely out of whack

Littleshortcake · 01/04/2020 15:49

Yes me @ also a terrible headache. Everyday about 3pm I need to take paracetamol ad it's quite bad. Hoping to go for a short walk now. Low motivation today though I got a good bit done.

DrAdmin · 01/04/2020 15:53

Oh hi all fellow grotbags!

Maybe I should split the run into 2 halves.

I've been doing mid afternoon workouts using the FitOn app. Unheard of for me! But it really helps, and they have workouts of all lengths and intensity levels.

thepeopleversuswork · 01/04/2020 16:10

Yes. Have felt so wiped out and low over past couple of days I have started to wonder if I have the virus although technically that’s highly unlikely. Last night felt beyond tired by about 6 and really ratty.

I have been trying to exercise mid afternoon but often clashes with work.

paap1975 · 01/04/2020 16:12

I don’t know if this would be an option for you but DH and I go and sit on our front doorstep after lunch and look at the garden/have a coffee. I find it helps

okiedokieme · 01/04/2020 16:12

Me, bored too. I'm working but get through it quickly as no phone calls or visitors

ifonly4 · 01/04/2020 16:22

I wouldn't say I feel grotty, but I do feel incrediably tired (luckily sleeping very well). I only work a couple of hours in the week, so life isn't much different other than the fact I'm getting less exercise.

For me, I think it's a combination of having to get Mum prepped foodwise on the immediate approach to lockdown (not easy without a car along our usual shopping), three long winded phone calls from her every day and that's all we seemed to think about initially, now rubbing off in the form of tiredness.

Butterymuffin · 01/04/2020 16:24

I've fallen asleep on the sofa quite a few afternoons. The day just seems a lot more tiring. I am torn between making myself go out for fresh air to get over it, or giving in and going to lie down for a proper afternoon nap each day.

Samtsirch · 01/04/2020 16:26

Yes, I have noticed a daily 3.30 pm slump, when I want to cry/ eat junk/ have a glass of wine/ give up and go to bed.😟

Solomangrundy · 01/04/2020 16:27

Another grot-bag waving hello!!

Wasn’t too bad last week, as weather was sunny so did all the clearing-up jobs in garden, plenty of washing out etc (week 1 of furlough) but this week, the weather is grey and cold, so there is no motivation to do anything outside. My bedtime is getting later and later... as is my getting-up time😳
By about 3/3.30pm, there is very much a “meh” feeling... and, bizarrely, yes! a headache!!🤷‍♀️ I am trying to ration the paracetamol, but yesterday’s headache was a bitch and wouldn’t go away without the proper dose😡
Even the dog (usually 100mph idiot, nosy, naughty, greedy etc) can’t be arsed and spends most of the day asleep! Our meal times are all over the place and I often end up eating toast cos I can’t be bothered to cook and I dream of McDs/KFC/Chippy... when normally I would go weeks without them!
Funny how we used to moan about being at work... yet I reckon we’d all zoom back, given the chance!!

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 01/04/2020 16:29

I get grotty way before 3! I've been wfh and have been starting at 6 some days to get it out of the way but then I feel I have to make myself go for my one allowed walk, but feel much better afterwards. The house is getting on my nerves as well, and there is only me in it. I'm finding that working is a lot more tiring here than it is in the office as you are constantly on the screen. Still I am virus free afaik and that I am grateful for.

Leona123321 · 01/04/2020 16:31

Not dirty but I feel lathargic.

I have not felt energetic at all in this lockdown. Either feel tired, sickly, headachy or anxious lol!

brightfiresout · 01/04/2020 16:32

I bought an SAD light and have been sitting ds and I in front of it for an hour a day while we do school work.

Laiste · 01/04/2020 16:36

Aren't the two 3 o'clocks (3 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon) supposed to be our lowest ebb biologically? Can't remember the proper details.

Bringringbring12 · 01/04/2020 16:37

No tbh

I run in morning at 6am. Back for children’s breakfast, then me yoga, then set them up with school work, whilst I shower, then housework, then they break outside on trampoline whilst I have brunch, then I sit with them whilst they work and I mindlessly surf the net! Then I do their lunch, they outside again, then TV whilst I do housework. Then another hour school work, then a walk in our local forest (yes I go out twice. Single parent... I need my run for peace and they need to exercise too).
By time back it’s 4pm or later. The days are flying by!

Solomangrundy · 01/04/2020 16:44

@Laiste

I thought it was 4pm for afternoon ‘energy slump’ and 4am for deaths overnight?
I used to work in a nursing home, 20 odd years ago, and there was certainly a higher instance of deaths overnight than during the day.
Strange thing was, the patients who died were often the more ‘well’ ones who just drifted away in their sleep!
Odd🤷‍♀️

Mintjulia · 01/04/2020 16:45

I cycle or play football at lunch with ds(11) then at 4pm I send him off to play MineCraft and I soak in a bubbly bath for 40 minutes. Close my eyes and snooze in the steam. It’s one of the few escapes left to me.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 01/04/2020 16:53

That's about when I take the dog out. Improves my mood end.

WhenYouveAFirstInEnglish · 01/04/2020 16:53

It’s a WOCL, we have to learn about them in mandatory training.... I def have one the kids afternoon

WhenYouveAFirstInEnglish · 01/04/2020 16:54

The mid afternoon
