My brother has recovered thank goodness and may be discharged. My issue is, he is still infectious. How does he get home? Are we expected to go and collect him? Its making me very anxious!

Shit - I started to answer this several times then got stumped.

Ask the hospital how he's supposed to get home safely given that he's infectious?

Congrats on his recovery, he must be pretty weak right now

www.cambridgeindependent.co.uk/news/cambridge-virologist-explains-what-we-know-and-dont-know-about-covid-19-9104220/

This is quite good and mentions infectious period

Ariela · 30/03/2020 13:06

If he has recovered, then he won't be infectious.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/03/2020 13:36

The nurse says he is still infectious. He needs to self isolate for another 7 days.

Or a minimum of 3 days

My best friend was in hospital for Covid and got discharged while still infectious. They provided hospital transport for her to get home but she had to be last. Hope your brother has a speedy recovery

neveradullmoment99 · 30/03/2020 13:38

Thanks everyone. They do not give him a test to ensure he is negative.

I will ask the hospital when he is discharged. I was just wondering what others do.

They can give him a surgical mask and he can sit in the back of the car all windows open on the journey then wipe down car handles once he is out.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/03/2020 13:39

@MamaBearThius what do you mean she had to be last?
That's good she got transport.

123bananas. Yes we have thought about doing that :)
Thank you.

Is he well enough to drive? Can he drive ? If you have a spare car is it possible to drop him one? I don't know anyone who does but I know that some families are two car.
How the hell else would he go home?

neveradullmoment99 · 30/03/2020 13:42

HIs car is in for an MOT.
I don't know if he is well enough to drive so certainly a consideration.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/03/2020 13:43

I don't think he is insured to drive any other car though so maybe not.

As in their last drop off of the day I think so the bus could be deep cleaned ready for the next day. It was late when she got home

neveradullmoment99 · 30/03/2020 14:11

Oh I may ask the hospital when they phone.

Frownette · 31/03/2020 15:37

@neveradullmoment99 did he get back yesterday? Was it by hospital coronabus?

neveradullmoment99 · 31/03/2020 16:14

No. Its today and someone needs to collect him. Not happy.

OP posts:
Frownette · 31/03/2020 16:15

Oh Sad

myfav · 31/03/2020 16:34

How long has it been from the onset of his symptoms? The longer it's been the better for you in terms of how infectious he is. Glad he has recovered.

neveradullmoment99 · 31/03/2020 17:00

Thats now been 7 days in the hospital. No idea how infectious he was before that. The hospital is giving him a mask and he is to sit at the back of the car.

My dh is having to collect him. Noone else will do it. I have told him also to wear a mask. Not taking any chances! He also has gloves.

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 31/03/2020 17:02

I feel freaked out about it.

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 31/03/2020 17:03

We have a 7 seater and i told my dh to make him sit right at the very back.

1 person with the lowest risk to take him and then self isolate for 14days

twinnywinny14 · 31/03/2020 17:05

Following advice if he has been unwell for 7days then he is no longer infectious x
