My brother has recovered thank goodness and may be discharged. My issue is, he is still infectious. How does he get home? Are we expected to go and collect him? Its making me very anxious!

I really don't see how this is right. He shouid really not be coming home until he tests negative. They havent even done a test on him to check You would think because this thing is so infectious that they would. It is ridiculous.

The nurse told me today he is still infectious.

I asked her outright and she said yes, he is still infectious. He will wear a mask and put him in the back seat.

BIL was told to self isolate for 7 days after his release from hospital and that the person who picked him up had to self isolate for 14 days after being in contact with him.

Luckily he could actually just walk home as it was only a few minutes. The hospital weren’t happy about that, but conceded in the end that it was just as quick to walk to his house as some parts of the car park.

We dont have anyone that can do it. My dh is 55 and we have three children. My brother who is 50 despite being single and on his own wont do it.

Sorry he was told to self isolate for 7 days after his negative test.

He was tested twice after leaving hospital (had to go back in for testing)

neveradullmoment99 · 31/03/2020 17:11

We have alreadly been self isolating for 7 days because i was in contact with him. Im fucking fed up with this.

Keep the window open in the car also. It’ll need a thorough clean too. Not ideal!

neveradullmoment99 · 31/03/2020 17:12

If he has to go back to the hospital, he is on his own!

It's 7 days from fever. So I guess he still had fever last night.

neveradullmoment99 · 31/03/2020 17:12

The car window could make the virus move around? Not sure thats the best idea.

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 31/03/2020 17:13

No, he doesn't have a fever at all.

I suppose we all have to take risks. Most people take the risk everytime they go to the supermarket in a way. The only difference is, they are not sure that the person they have been near has it. Then again, we cant be 100% sure he is still infectious. Do the nurses really know that?

The nhs website says that you can go out 7 days after the first symptoms as long as you don't have a temperature, even if you have the cough.

neveradullmoment99 · 31/03/2020 17:15

He is away atm to get him. My head is splitting!

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 31/03/2020 17:16

@LittleSweet thank you for that. That actually makes me feel better.

Our gp said ok to be near others after 7 days from onset of symptoms...., hope he's ok.

DisneyPlus · 31/03/2020 17:23

I was told it was important to have windows open in the house, so assumed car would be similar?

Bluetrews25 · 31/03/2020 17:25

There isn't room in hospitals to keep everyone in until they are better. Just clean the car inside.
Has he got food at home?

neveradullmoment99 · 31/03/2020 17:27

Really? The nurse didnt say open the windows in the car. Im not sure.

I'm a key NHS worker at home with symptoms (temp 38.3C, mild tickly cough) since Sunday. We are to return to work after 7 days if well enough. If your family member who was in hospital has had symptoms more than 7 days then a mask and gloves in the car will be fine. I feel sorry for them Sad
Hope they are better soon and you all stay safe.

SouthWestmom · 31/03/2020 17:33

On the press
Conference just now they said they've issued guidance on when people are discharged following the guidance
