Sorry to hear your baby is in hospital. Are you allowed to visit? I would avoid visit ing anyone else until your baby is home and you all feel ok.

How is your friend doing?

Babyboomtastic · 30/03/2020 02:24

You won't be back to normal. None of us are doing normal right now. But you can leave your house for essential work, to go on an essential trip to the supermarket and daily excercise from your house. You'll still be under lockdown so no normal

Chloemol · 30/03/2020 02:39

No. You have not been tested, you don’t know for sure, follow current guidelines and stay at home

PotholeParadise · 30/03/2020 02:49

Guidance is that you should stay in until 7 days after start of symptoms, but that guidance is assuming that plenty of people who self-isolate will only have a cold.

If you are actually sure it was Covid-19 due to contact with someone who tested positive, I would wait 10 days after first symptom to give yourself a buffer.

I've also been 'diagnosed' but no test, had an absolutely dreadful 2 weeks+ of illness. 1)I'd stay in for longer than 2 weeks if you can..I still feel quite unwell..very breathless, chest pain etc. I'm not feeling up to going out anyway but I wouldn't want to take the risk I'm still infectious. 2) Once you go out you'll have to follow social distancing and hand washing and all the rest as cautiously as you can despite how unnecessary they feel 3)Hopefully we'll get a confirmatory antibody test soon!

penisbeakers · 30/03/2020 02:58

You stay indoors.

sykadelic · 30/03/2020 03:35

No, because you can still get it again. Results out of Wuhan, people testing positive, then negative, then positive again.

Inkpaperstars · 30/03/2020 03:38

I am sure there are lots of people who have had it and as soon as the antibody tests are widely available policies might start to change. Until then I suppose everyone must be seen to follow the rules otherwise it could become chaotic. Even when the tests are out there it's hard to see how it will be monitored.

Glad you're feeling better OP, sounds horrible.

PotatoesDieInHotCars · 30/03/2020 03:48

You are unlikely to be reinfected by it but you can defintely transmit it by cross-contamination. Stay away from other people please.

Minty2020 · 30/03/2020 04:49

Without testing you are only assuming you have had it, so many illnesses have similar symptoms. It does sound like you have but as you can’t be completely 100 certain I stay well away from people. What if it wasn’t Coronavirus and then you catch it after having just been really sick. I wouldn’t chance it . Hope you’re recovering well, it sounded awful !

littlemissmuffins · 30/03/2020 06:27

So sorry your DC is in hospital xx

No, you can't go out except for essential food shopping, medical care, and daily exercise during which you stay apart from others as much as possible. It's the same for everybody.

bumblingbovine49 · 30/03/2020 06:38

DO NOT VISIT PEOPLE. Even if you have had it, you can still pick it up on your hands from others when out and about and pass it on like that . Yes you can wash your hands when you visit people but that is not completely foolproof. Of course your risk of being a vector for infection is much lower if you have had the virus but it is not zero and it is not 100% certain you have had it so be patient. You are lucky, if you have all had it and recovered and are likely to be back to normal.much sooner than those who haven't when antigen ests are rolled our. Until then why not volunteer to deliver things for the vunerable and do their shopping?

DryHeave · 30/03/2020 06:41

We know so little about this virus, they have no idea how long people who have had it & recovered can still be shedding the virus for.

Don’t go anywhere.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 30/03/2020 06:43

No one can go about their normalish day.

How long since symptoms went? When did your fever go?

Life isnt normalish for anyone. You still need to abide by the rules set out.

TW2013 · 30/03/2020 06:48

Your body has just been through a battle, do you want to risk catching anything else - normal flu for example and being ill again whilst still feeling weak and under the weather?

randomlettersabc · 30/03/2020 07:58

I've just posted this on another thread.. was reading articles yesterday which quoted The Lancet (a well respected medical journal) and it said that the virus can stay in recovered patients' airways for up to 37 days. Granted viral load may be less but this still is a bit worrying given the time frame recovered people will start going out and about if not in lockdown... will try and find out more today. The Lancet isn't exactly The Sun, it's a good journal so that has stuck in my mind a bit...

Bagelsandbrie · 30/03/2020 08:02

You don’t know you’ve had it. I say that as someone who has had all the symptoms too and even been flagged as having it by the NHS 111 service but they wouldn’t actually test me as I didn’t go to hospital. So we will never know - unless they do a test on us. And they don’t actually know if it makes you a carrier still or if you become immune or not. It’s too new and too early to tell. So we just have to carry on as we are, it sucks but that’s life for now.

BigChocFrenzy · 30/03/2020 13:58

@thebluestocking

Sorry, I live in Germany and I was quoting rules for here - you are right, UK is more relaxed about infected people

In Germany, isolation is officially ordered as soon as anyone has tested positive and does not allow going outside for any reason
(Germans even in normal times are instructed to keep 10 days supplies for miscell. civil emergencies like floods)

There are hefty fines and even imprisonment for leaving the home.
People are checked daily by phone and / or loudhailer - also to check noone has deteriorated suddenly

BigChocFrenzy · 30/03/2020 14:02

Germany tests 500,000 per week, so someone is much more likely to know if they are infected

However in the UK people just have to use their own judgement,
so far more are isolating just in case,
who probably just have another bug

RarePackOfLooRoll · 01/04/2020 21:57

Whether you've had it or not, you can still move the virus around, even if you are immune you can still pick up the virus on your hands, clothes etc and move it around as you go about your daily life, increasing the spread to people who havnt had it. Just because you've had it, it does not mean you won't cone into contact with it again and move it about.
So even if you've had it, you need to still social distance and carry on living the lock down lifestyle sadly.
