"The guidelines say you can go outside for exercise if you stay away from other people, whether you are in isolation or not"

No, isolation - because of symptoms - means stay home completely, no going out

However, if the 14 days have passed, then the OP only has to follow the same lockdown rules as the rest of the population

CryptoFascist · 30/03/2020 00:34

The Test Police are here I see. No, you can't get tested unless you're critically ill at this point. However someone stayed at their house who was tested and the op subsequently developed symptoms. I think that's a good enough set of circumstances to assume CV and behave accordingly.

Holdingmybreath · 30/03/2020 00:35

We're in lockdown, you don't go visiting people. You may have had it but that won't stop you spreading it through social contact.

notangelinajolie · 30/03/2020 00:35

Take your lead from Boris and Matt. Two tested confirmed cases. If they let them out after a week then you are good to go.
But If you still have a temp I would wait till that has gone back to normal.

feefee322 · 30/03/2020 00:37

Good , will leave house. Desperately need food!

Feel fine now. Exhausted tho! It's a tough virus to get over!

@BigChocFrenzy

I work for the NHS, so I'm pretty sure I know what the guidelines say.

You can go outside for exercise as long as you don't go near other people, if you are isolating. You are not allowed to shop, or go to a GP surgery, pharmacy, or hospital.

If you are not, you can go outside for exercise, to visit the shops, and go to pharmacies, your GP, and hospitals.

Manchestermanchester · 30/03/2020 00:48

No please stay at home

TheBlueStocking · 30/03/2020 00:49

For the avoidance of doubt.

I've had Coronovirus - can I go out?
SeaToSki · 30/03/2020 00:51

Advice here (USA) is leave it 14 days from when your first day of symptoms was, or 3 days after the last spike of fever, which ever is longest. So if you spike a fever on day 14, you should stay isolated until day 17.

Also google for antibody tests, they will be available eventually and if you get a positive on them, then you could be of use by donating plasma or running errand for the vulnerable.

But you can still carry the virus from other people who are active carriers and shed it onto your clothing etc and cross infect others, so you should still follow government advice on social distancing (its just you dont need to be so worried for your own health)

Roostersmum2 · 30/03/2020 00:52

Oh fgs if the OP's friend tested positive and was staying with her, then she and her family got ill with the same symptoms I think she's safe to assume she's had it.

I don't know why people are still stuck on "but have you been tested" because the vast majority of people who have it will never be tested unless they're so ill they need the hospital (like OPs friend) and those people are very few in the grand scheme of things.

OP I'm pretty sure you need to continue to social distance, you may be immune but you're still able to transfer the virus. Say you touch a contaminated surface and then go and visit a relative and transfer it to their surfaces.

At least you know you've got the worst bit out of the way. Glad you're feeling better.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 30/03/2020 00:52

If I had it and thought I had immunity I'd be volunteering my services to help others.

Fieldofgreycorn · 30/03/2020 00:53

If you and your household have completed your periods of isolation and you’re not in the most vulnerable category then you can go out for exercise and food maintaining the same social distancing as everyone else.

maddening · 30/03/2020 00:53

But they don't yet know if you can have reoccurrence or can still carry so stay home

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 30/03/2020 00:58

Well you might end up killing people then @Dickorydockwhatthe because no-one can say if there's any immunity

TheJoyofBeingSingle · 30/03/2020 00:59

You still need to social distance as you are vulnerable to getting a different strain - google 40 strains covid Iceland (country not the shop).

Babyboomtastic · 30/03/2020 01:03

You still need to follow the law for the in lockdown. Having had it isn't one of the listed reasons for you leaving the house I'm afraid.

CatAndHisKit · 30/03/2020 01:06

the whole point of the new antibody tests is, that those who had it (esp NHS workers) can go back to work and be in no risk themselves. So yes, they do say there is immunity!

So of course OP can go out now. But she can still transfer it from other people to whomever else, so still need to do all the precautions.

feefee322 · 30/03/2020 01:06

Great, thank you. I look forward to getting back to normal but social distancing

Love the idea of donating plasma! Can't volunteer unfortunately as I have a 3 month old baby and I'm EBF

Hanks & wife are recovered. They are self-isolating coz everyone has to not because they are infectious now.

I've had Coronovirus - can I go out?
5zeds · 30/03/2020 01:36

Why can’t you give blood if you are breastfeeding? (Curious)

SoapIsYourFriend · 30/03/2020 01:38

Tou haven't definitely had it unless you're tested. If you go out other people will go out.

SoapIsYourFriend · 30/03/2020 01:38

*you

RarePackOfLooRoll · 30/03/2020 01:41

You can still spread the virus.
Not because you have it but because you could still pick up the virus from places and people by touching infected surfaces and spread the virus further.

This is why we are being g asked yo stay at home. Minimise our movement. Anything any of us touch could have the virus on it ended can end up putting the virus everywhere and anywhere which could potentially result in more people getting infected. It's not just about catching it.

cabbageking · 30/03/2020 01:54

Whether you have had it or not.

The same rules still apply.

You can't visit other people and must limit going out.
