If you have a thermometer, can you take your temp?

I know temperatures vary and was wondering what everybody's is to get an idea.

Mine is 37.3 today.

37.3 is as close to normal to not be a concern. Especially with home thermometers, if it’s an under the tongue one they can be out by quite a bit.

Do you feel poorly?

I took mine out of interest the other day and it said 36.0. I suspect a better thermometer would have being more accurate.

Mine is 36.6 this morning.

I am trying and failing not to take it multiple times a day at the moment.

Wasail · 29/03/2020 08:18

36.6
It varies, from 36 to 37.1 for me

OneIsAWorldOfBooks · 29/03/2020 08:19

I took mine yesterday as felt a bit hot and it was 36.0.

Mothersday2020 · 29/03/2020 08:21

I think it's a bit hot for me...started Fri felt a little flushed in face...I'm not going into work as I have to be so careful. I think dh thinks its normal. When I take a paracetemol it goes to 36.8, so it must be high if a paracetemol brings it down, right? I feel fine today but dont no whether to stay in bedroom....

Everyone in my house has had a temp of 37.5 for the last 4 days or so as we've been fighting off a cold. Today it's 37 which is more my normal.

VivaLeBeaver · 29/03/2020 08:25

Paracetamol is a vasodilator so potentially could reduce even a normal temperature. But if you don’t feel quite right it’s probably worth keeping away from rest of the household for a couple of days and seeing which way it goes.

findingschools4myboys · 29/03/2020 08:25

Took mine about 5 times just out of interest and it was between 36.7-37.1 in the space of 2 min. Ear thermometer.

FredaFrogspawn · 29/03/2020 08:25

I’m never over 37 without a bug of some sort and was surprised at 37.7 being seen as within normal range. It wouldn’t be for me.

I’m usually 36.35 ish

I have found that I feel flushed when anxious, and I've been very anxious later. Could it be that? I would just try to tell myself that the government guidance is 37.8 for a reason. If it's under that, try to reassure yourself .

NeverTalksToStrangers · 29/03/2020 08:27

I haven't taken mine yet today but I have had low grade temp (max 38.1) for 15 days straight...

My hubby and kids reading normal on same thermometer. I had chest tightness and some minor breathing difficulties that went around day 10 or so. Aches and pains got worse again since Friday.

1Bobbinwinder · 29/03/2020 08:28

It's horrible though...I don't have health anxiety specifically but do get anxious about my health. Having all this time to analyse every twinge and symptom has been very difficult for me. My normal daily distractions are all forbidden.

Mothersday2020 · 29/03/2020 08:28

Thank you. I did ring work, I'm a carer so I'm trying to be extra careful so not going in.

lubeybooby · 29/03/2020 08:38

37.2 digital in ear

Mothersday2020 · 29/03/2020 08:42

Mines an ear one too

OP posts:
kevintheorangecarrot · 29/03/2020 08:47

36.2c

sashh · 29/03/2020 08:50

38.9

I do have a cold, a mild one and I rarely leave the house at the best of times, and not at all since lockdown (the odd trip into the back garden) so if it is C-19 I have not been spreading it.

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 29/03/2020 08:51

We onky have an under arm one so it reads much lower.

If we ever were able to get a new thermometer....

Dont the ear ones need their little bits that come in contact disposing of every time?

BunsyGirl · 29/03/2020 08:55

@SquashedFlyBiscuit The ear caps only need changing if you use them for different people (or if you have lots of ear wax like my DH!) I have had a raised temp on and off for five weeks. I only change the cap if I take someone else’s temperature with the thermometer.

Mimishimi · 29/03/2020 08:59

36.9 ... last week it was consistently hovering around the 37.5 mark though

Mothersday2020 · 29/03/2020 09:29

Mimishimi

Do you think you were ill last week?

BertieBotts · 29/03/2020 09:34

36.4 Ear

AvocadoPrime · 29/03/2020 09:34

35.8 in the ear and 36.2 under arm. Not sure which is most accurate
