Is this message I've received true?!

So the attached message was sent to me by someone on Facebook, who has a tendency to send all kinds of shite to her entire contact list!
I'm fairly level headed but tomorrow I'm venturing out to get shopping for both my own immediate family and my parents.
I will obviously be extremely careful but now I'm panicking that there maybe some truth in the message and I've picked totally the wrong day Confused

Is this message I've received true?!

Pile of shite.

HumpHumpWhale · 28/03/2020 20:02

No, it's a horrible, cruel hoax. Also, I got it yesterday. People are such scum. Stone people, anyway...

CrunchyCarrot · 28/03/2020 20:02

Well the amount of exclamation marks and all caps should alert you to the truth that it's not exactly accurate! The peak won't come for another 2-3 weeks I'm afraid. In the meantime, just make sure you keep up social distancing and washing your hands etc. Don't panic, it's counter-productive. :)

Grobagsforever · 28/03/2020 20:03

FFS it's horseshit.

Take all your precautions and get off the Internet

PurpleDaisies · 28/03/2020 20:04

It’s rubbish.

You just need to delete and ignore anything that doesn’t come from a reputable source. “An NHS worker told me this” doesn’t count.

Reginabambina · 28/03/2020 20:04

Lol no. That doesn’t make any sense when you think it through.

velocitygirl7 · 28/03/2020 20:05

Thank you, like I said I'm normally a totally rational, level headed type but this sent me down a pit of doom!!!

She's the type of person who posts those delightful 'share this if you hate cancer' type posts.
No, I bloody love it, obviously.... Hmm

OP posts:
MasakaBuzz · 28/03/2020 20:05

It looks exactly like a chain letter to me. It should be treated with exactly the same level of contempt If this was truly the case it would come from a Government Agency, not nameless NHS worker.

People that post this sort of shit are the lowest of the low.

Ignore

Sparklfairy · 28/03/2020 20:05

I mean, generally it's a load of bollocks. The level of contagious-ness (not a word!) doesn't go up with worsening symptoms. You're as contagious carrying it but not showing any symptoms (apart from coughing everywhere obviously).

What is true, is that the incubation period after the stupidity that was last weekend is nearly over. People will probablystart to get sick in bigger numbers now as a direct result of going to the pub for a last hurrah etc.

YahBasic · 28/03/2020 20:06

My bloody mother keeps sending shit like that to me & it’s doing my head in.

She’s an intelligent woman, and is a key worker herself, so not quite sure why she acts like a 13 year old, passing on chain messages that her sister sends her.

PurpleDaisies · 28/03/2020 20:06

This is worth you reading...

Babyroobs · 28/03/2020 20:06

How do people know it's not true. Basically it's saying stay in. Considering the government is saying cases are going to peak in a couple of weeks then it makes sense that a lot of people will just be displaying symptoms now and that is the point when most people are most infectious ? People are not meant to be leaving home unless it's essential anyway and that is all the message is saying.

CodenameVillanelle · 28/03/2020 20:07

It literally makes no sense. Why would it be true?

HoffiCoffi13 · 28/03/2020 20:08

It’s bullshit.
Anyone who uses that many exclamation marks is not to be trusted.
Do your shopping, don’t touch your face, stay 2m from everyone and wash your hands when you get home.

Frankiecandle · 28/03/2020 20:08

FB is so full of shit right now.

BovaryX · 28/03/2020 20:08

Iliterate nonsense

slipperywhensparticus · 28/03/2020 20:10

I had the same thing last week AND the week before

turkeyontheplate · 28/03/2020 20:11

My uncle has just sent the same message to me. It's total bobbins. I'm more worried that he's buying into it - he's elderly, vulnerable and hasn't been able to see his wife of 60 years for two weeks because her care home is in lockdown.

If I knew who had sent it to him, I'd have a few choice words for them Angry

Marieo · 28/03/2020 20:11

Anything with that kind of information would be communicated through official channels as well.

BabyLlamaZen · 28/03/2020 20:11

It doesn't make any sense Hmm The reason the peak will be in a few weeks as everty few days it's doubling and the effect of lockdown won't be felt yet (as its always 3 weeks behind - basically one week to know you've had it, one to get normal symptoms and one to get v sick if you do).

By all means be careful as there are more people being infected every day. But always be careful and only go out when very necessary, as has been instructed since lockdown started.

Chiyo666 · 28/03/2020 20:12

I’ve had to delete my Facebook because of all the fake news and hoaxes and the idiots just lapping it up. Much happier for it!

user1353245678533567 · 28/03/2020 20:13

It doesn't even make sense.

usuallydormant · 28/03/2020 20:14

I got it in French last week, which is probably where the bread reference comes from Smile

3xmother · 28/03/2020 20:15

I ve just received this message by WhatsApp. I think was send by the same person... 🙄
