Small DC and I are supposed to be self-isolating for another whole week.

No delivery slots available, ever apparently, and we’ve almost no food left because we didn’t panic buy (just the usual stuff plus a few extra bits, but not much extra as we’ve limited storage anyway).

The DC are going to be very hungry indeed by next weekend. Thanks a bunch, Sainsbury’s Angry

I should’ve panic bought, shouldn’t I?

Try another supermarket. Sainsbury's is only doing elderly and those with health conditions. Unless you called the contact centre and got yourself put down as vulnerable I don't think you will get a slot for a few months?

Callcentreworker23 · 28/03/2020 08:13

@Oldraver it's an issue with Google Chrome, I placed an order on my Kindle with the Kindle internet browser and it worked straight away! On Chrome it was saying invalid postcode, invalid card, lots of things!

I am in isolation and tomorrow is my last supermarket order then no idea what I will do!

Daffie19 · 28/03/2020 08:14

I don't think it's sainsburies fault. It's the public!

Also morrisons are doing a next day delivery box of essentials on their website for £35. Might be useful for you.

HotPenguin · 28/03/2020 08:18

Look on the Facebook pages of small local shops - butchers, delis etc. There are a number round us who are now doing home deliveries. They dont have the range of the supermarkets but they have all the basics you need.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 28/03/2020 08:19

You could try ring the DCs school.
Volunteer staff at my school are taking essential supplies to isolated staff and students.

Also try the council as they have people within the community picking up essential groceries for isolating households.

Ricekrispie22 · 28/03/2020 08:20

Now that supermarkets have introduced a 3 item limit on all products, it makes it difficult shopping for other people.

LittleLittleLittle · 28/03/2020 08:27

@Judashascomeintosomemoney Sainsburys has only started going through the government list of vulnerable people on Friday. Asda apparently started going through the list near the beginning of the week.

@Daffie19 Yes it is Sainburys fault. They should have not marketed that they were doing slots for the vulnerable when it is simply not true. Morrisons has actually done more with their boxes than Sainsburys has done with their marketing.

AwkwardSquad · 28/03/2020 08:27

I’ve just booked a Sainsbury’s delivery slot for Monday - they’ve released a few locally to delivery pass holders, so it’s worth checking every now and then.

manicinsomniac · 28/03/2020 08:30

They’re saving the slots for venerable people which is absolutely the right thing to do

Sorry, this made me laugh! Grin

The rest of the situation is shit and not funny at all. I'm sorry. If you post your city, maybe some of us on here could get food to you?

thegreylady · 28/03/2020 08:31

I have a Morrison’s delivery booked for next Wednesday. I hope most of it will come.
How will they know we are vulnerable? I am 76 and dh is 83 and we both have health conditions .

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/03/2020 08:32

I've found Sainsbury's are releasing some slots around here, but not consistently. They're doing vulnerable first but I think once they're not taken up some become available.

I'm hoping the panic buying will calm down soon as people must be running out of storage space. We bought extra about 4 weeks ago so we would have supplies for self-isolation if needed, but since then have just been doing our regular weekly shop. I'd imagine many people are similar (albeit maybe did their stock up later than us)

RandomWok · 28/03/2020 08:35

Where abouts in the country are you? I'm in the south east and there a quite a few catering suppliers now delivering to homes. There's a veg man that'll deliver veg boxes and milk. Is there anyone like that in your area?

RandomWok · 28/03/2020 08:37

Just to add a few of the local pubs are making supply boxes too. One of ours is selling meat. The local farm shop is delivering too. Worth a check?

TheBitterBoy · 28/03/2020 08:43

Sainsbury's are prioritising existing customers who they can identify as vulnerable, and then are releasing whatever limited slots are left to delivery pass customers, a few days at a time. I was lucky enough the get a slot delivered yesterday which they release d on Wednesday, which I was very grateful for as we are in our second week of self isolation due to symptoms. Once we are able to leave the house i won't be booking another slot even if offered as I am able to get to a number of local shops.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 28/03/2020 08:45

I can’t get any with any supermarket.

Liked at Morrison’s and there were 2500 people queuing to get on the website.

I’m just going to go to my local Tesco Metro and observe social distancing.

It’s a farce. I’ve got a delivery pass for Sainsbury but still no slots

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 28/03/2020 08:46

Bitter boy, how do you know that about delivery pass holders?

TheBitterBoy · 28/03/2020 08:46

From what I can tell Sainsbury's started by trying to identify existing vulnerable customers, so delivery pass holders with nectar card dates of birth indicating they were over 70. They also emailed all their customers asking them to contact if the were vulnerable, but I'm not sure how easy that was to get through to.

nomdefuckit · 28/03/2020 08:48

I don't think that Sainsbury's have a clue what they're doing

We are existing customers and are on the vulnerable list

No slots

Yet there are people on here who seen vulnerable who do have slots.

TheBitterBoy · 28/03/2020 08:49

The emoji, I'm a delivery pass holder, they have been emailing about what they are doing. I had an email on Wednesday early evening saying they were releasing some slots that has not been booked by vulnerable customers up to 30th March and I was lucky enough to get one.

Marnie76 · 28/03/2020 08:50

just to make people aware also (sorry if already mentioned). The gov form is for vulnerable people with medical conditions. etc but they are There is also number on the Sainsbury’s website for people who are over 70 to phone and register with them separately to the gov.uk form - 0800 953 4988. This should register them as a priority for home delivery.

TheBitterBoy · 28/03/2020 08:51

In guessing some areas had slots so the email may have been area deoendent.

MyFartWillGoOn · 28/03/2020 08:51

Emoji. All delivery pass customers got an email yesterday stating this was what they were doing. I'm on the extremely vulnerable list but haven't been given priority yet by Sainsbury's. However, got an email saying they had limited slots for those with delivery passes but by the time I'd logged on, they'd all gone.

nomdefuckit · 28/03/2020 08:51

So, it's vulnerable with delivery pass first

Then, non vulnerable with a delivery pass

Then, other vulnerable

That's a bit shit. Delivery passes should be cancelled or, only useable by vulnerable or key workers

Xenia · 28/03/2020 08:56

Meat and egg wholesaler Marbec Meats have apparently lost a lot of airline business to whom they supplied foods and if you have a large enough order might be able to help with meat and eggs. I have no connection to them and this is not an ad.
www.marbecmeats.co.uk/ Tel: 020 8450 0818 Email: [email protected]

They cover the SE of England - map on their website. You would have to call them or email them though so not quite as easy as clicking on a supermarket website.

TheGreatWave · 28/03/2020 08:56

Sainsbury's is just a farce, it tells you that you can only click and collect and then no slots. Their communication borders on the rude.
