Neighbours stroked my cat.

Just looked out the window and seen the neighbours kids stroking our cat.

How/what would you do about the cats fur at this time to clean it?

OP posts:
defthand · 27/03/2020 14:32

Bath time for kitty. 😂

Abraid2 · 27/03/2020 14:32

In one of the quality newspapers today they were saying don't worry about pets' fur too much. The virus won't linger for long and isn't thought to be a particular danger.

Perhaps just brush the cat (wearing gloves) and then disinfect the brush. Or was the brush first in pet shampoo and use that on the cat so the slightly damp bristles pick up anything? Then disinfect again.

Elouera · 27/03/2020 14:32

If you are that concerned, keep your cat inside!!!

This exact question was asked on the daily covid news bulletin and apparently the droplets survive easier on hard surfaces than hair.

Hannah021 · 27/03/2020 14:33

I was surprised to know my vulnerable colleague allows her cats out... Cuz i would've thought, like cardboard and plastic, fur can also carry...

I'd give the cat a holy scrub and keep it indoors...

Lockheart · 27/03/2020 14:33

The horror.

Wolfiefan · 27/03/2020 14:33

Don’t lick the cat. Grin

lamppostdog · 27/03/2020 14:33

If your cat's outside it could be touching anything

HappyHammy · 27/03/2020 14:33

Is there any evidence that its passed to cats this way. Maybe time to keep pets inside. Soap and water I suppose if you must.

viccat · 27/03/2020 14:42

From the RCVS. Very unlikely to be a risk.

^^ But don't iron it - that would be cruel.

HappyHammy · 27/03/2020 14:44

Do not put kitty in the washing machine or tumble drierConfused

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/03/2020 14:44

You'll need to put the cat in the washing machine and do a 90 degree wash I'm afraid. Also tumble dry on hot afterwards.

Bleach in the wash though.

MysweetAudrina · 27/03/2020 14:45

It's not like they stroked your pussy. You will be fine.

MikeUniformMike · 27/03/2020 14:47

Don't forget the Zoflora.

Cats have a built-in self-cleaning function. They don't even need lavatory paper.

Ginfilledcats · 27/03/2020 14:52

My favourite advice so far: don't kick the cat. Proper chuckled!

TheGreatWave · 27/03/2020 14:58

No, don't kick the cat, the kids maybe but not the cat.

Ginfordinner · 27/03/2020 15:07

Our next door neighbour's cat is always coming into our garden. She is an affectionate little thing and DD and I often stroke her.

Spam88 · 27/03/2020 15:10

Steam sterilisation?

MikeUniformMike · 27/03/2020 15:14

Lick it clean.

AmputatedSoul · 27/03/2020 15:18

My cat came home yesterday and someone had the cheek to loosen her collar Angry
I'd expect people to stroke her while she's out because she initiates it, I just make sure I wash my hands after playing with her.
I don't expect people to mess with her collar though.. that's a different thread I suppose.

BronwenFrideswide · 27/03/2020 15:18

Just when you think the nonsense and lack of intelligence on here has no lower to go along comes this OP to plumb new depths, unless of course I've not correctly picked up the tone and the OP is being ironic and lighthearted.

BestZebbie · 27/03/2020 15:20

Being serious DO NOT be tempted to go over the cat with a Dettol wipe, Dettol is toxic to cats and licking it off her fur would poison her.
