Just looked out the window and seen the neighbours kids stroking our cat.

How/what would you do about the cats fur at this time to clean it?

OP posts:
PickwickThePlockingDodo · 27/03/2020 15:25

You'll have to shave all her fur off, op, it's the only way Grin

RobynSH · 27/03/2020 15:26

@BronwenFrideswide

Does it please you to insult me that much?

What the fuck happened to be kind on here?

This is the Coronavirus board.

I have one parent weeks from death and the other fighting cancer. Im the only person able to make sure they have what they need.

A husband who can't get out of work as his job is one which is needed to keep going. Kids at home.

Maybe, just maybe, I'm fucking worried about all of this. OK?

So fuck off back under your bridge and count yourself FUCKING LUCKY that you have so much else little to worry about that you have got it in you to come on here and insult those of us who are near crippled with the worry of all this.

My neighbours know better than to stoke my cat, she starts hissing if they get any closer than 6 feet (the miserable sod) Grin

Silvercatowner · 27/03/2020 15:29

OP I'm so sorry that you have all that stuff to deal with Flowers

A neighbour stroking your cat is really neither here nor there.

madcatladyforever · 27/03/2020 15:29

I have to say Robyn people have been shittier than usual on here recently.

RobynSH · 27/03/2020 15:31

Thanks silver.

Gave him a brush with some soapy water.

He's drying off and having a sleep.

I'm sure I'm overreacting. But it would have been another thing to make me worry I'd infect my parents.

OP posts:
Ks0708 · 27/03/2020 15:31

Other people have plenty to worry about too, its just that rationally, someone touching a cat isn't on the list.

Weedsnseeds1 · 27/03/2020 15:32

Don't use any phenol products on the cat ( disinfectants that go cloudy in water) as they are toxic to cats.
It's low risk, just let the cat give herself a wash.

EasterElf · 27/03/2020 15:35

Don’t lick your cat. Don’t let your cat lick your face. You can lick your own face if you want to.

BronwenFrideswide · 27/03/2020 15:36

I've got plenty to worry about but I'm not going to enter into some form of worrying top trumps with you, OP, to see whose got it harder. However, even the crap I've got to shoulder hasn't led to my rational, logic brain fleeing my head.

RobynSH · 27/03/2020 15:39

All I needed to know was did I need to be concerned. Did I need to wash the cat.

We're told to put shopping that comes in packaging into quarantine for 3 days or clean the packaging.

That is because it is in item that's been touched by someone else.

My cat had also become an item touched by someone else.

Can't see that it was totally devoid of logic.

Anyway I have my answer. As some of the kinder members of the forum actually helped.

Thanks all. Daffodil

Some people are really nasty on here. OP, I understand why you posted and I'm sorry you've got such a lot of worry at the moment. Flowers

DollyDaydream70 · 27/03/2020 15:44

I'd be more concerned that you're letting your cat inside after it's been allowed to wander around outside. It could very easily carry the virus into your home on the pads of it's paws... keep kitty inside!

DollyDaydream70 · 27/03/2020 15:46

P.S. Lot's of nasty people on MN with nothing better to do than write nasty replies to posts.. even more time for it now they're locked down. Take no notice, just keep kitty inside for now x

Ragnarok · 27/03/2020 15:52

Please dont let this unduly worry you, I'm only posting it to demonstrate to the 'stop scaremongering' brigade that actually you are being sensible and intelligent about this.
Theres been the first case of human to cat transmission reported today in Belgium...
www.theolivepress.es/spain-news/2020/03/27/belgian-cat-catches-coronavirus-from-owner-in-worlds-first-known-transmission/

Full article does clearly have caveats, and I'm all up for not panicking. That said, we know very little about this virus and I see nothing wrong with caution.

All the best to you OP. Smile

Lamentations · 27/03/2020 15:53

OP I'm sorry you are having a hard time. I think the banter with you was lighthearted, nobody was deliberately trying to be mean.

Lamentations · 27/03/2020 15:54

Ok one poster was mean, sorry.

runrabbitrunrunrun · 27/03/2020 16:05

Shave it!

FlamingoAndJohn · 27/03/2020 16:12

The virus lives longer on hard surfaces. On more porous surfaces like cardboard, paper or cats it really doesn’t live that long.

TheMemoryLingers · 27/03/2020 16:12

I believe pet shops are still open so you could use your daily outing to buy some cat wipes. They're very handy to have around, and great for dangleberries on long haired cats.

RobynSH · 27/03/2020 16:21

@FlamingoAndJohn

That's really helpful. Thank you. Thanks

OP posts:
Weedsnseeds1 · 27/03/2020 17:09

I really wouldn't try and wash the cat. The risk of you getting injured by a frantic cat and ending up with infected scratches or cat scratch disease, then needing medical treatment are far higher than virus living on your cats fur.

MikeUniformMike · 27/03/2020 19:08

Cats don't need washing and FGS don't put any chemicals on the cat.

DragonflyInn · 27/03/2020 20:31

To be fair, there are other threads with posters very firmly reminding dog owners dogs must be kept on a lead because the virus can be transmitted to other people on their fur. There’s so many different theories, if you’re feeling anxious it’s really hard to know what to filter out and what to listen to.

(OP as someone who bathed the dog after a dog loving lady petted her last Saturday, I know where you’re coming from!)

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 27/03/2020 20:35

Keep your cat in.
