Ocado Anytime Smart Pass holders - have you received priority access yet?

Milky77 · 27/03/2020 12:45

Email sent to anytime pass holders (at least) on Thursday

-
We have experienced such extraordinary levels of demand in recent days that despite our best efforts, we simply have not had enough capacity to serve all our customers.
To put it into context, practically every Ocado customer, no matter how infrequently they may have shopped previously, is now looking to place an order every week. At the same time, with families at home, the average size of orders has almost doubled. This means there is an unceasing level of demand several times our current delivery capacity.
We’ve already taken decisive steps to manage this demand, closing our doors to new customers, and limiting customers to one delivery slot every seven days. However, despite these measures, we can see that not all Smart Pass customers have been able to book a delivery.
As an Anytime Smart Pass member, we consider you to be one of our best customers, so we’ve set up a temporary priority queue to enable you to book a delivery slot each week.
How you will get access:
We have divided all paying Anytime Smart Pass members who joined before 2020 into a number of equal-sized, randomised groups. You will be placed in one of these groups.
At spaced intervals, we will give each group access to the priority queue, enabling them to quickly get in and choose a slot for their weekly delivery. We will do this by sending each group an email and text message between the hours of 9am and 5pm, starting tomorrow.
Once you get your email, you’ll have the rest of the day to place and check out your order. Please wait for your message, as you won’t be able to access the priority queue at other times.
Please be aware that there is still high demand for slots, and you may not see full availability for all time slots. But, because we can now prioritise the customers we let on to the website, and each customer can only have one slot, you can be confident that there are enough slots – and groceries – to go around.
Our developers continue to work on a better solution which will allow us to manage this in a simpler way but, for now, this fix at least helps us to prioritise you in the short-term. It makes access fair, and helps to keep traffic to our website at manageable levels, ensuring you the best possible shopping experience in the circumstances.
Please note: our usually all-knowing Customer Service team can’t set-up or change this temporary process, so they won’t be able to tell you which group you are in, or when you will get your email.
Thank you for your continued understanding and patience. We all understand the huge responsibility placed on us, and we are working tirelessly to help feed the nation at this challenging time.
Your Ocado team

Will be v glad to have a slot confirmed. I would have cancelled my Ocado subscription otherwise. As a customer who orders weekly and should also be screened, I was getting quite concerned what the next few months would be like.

Anyone had their priority access yet?

Is she on the vulnerable database?

I didn’t get this email despite having an anytime smart pass, but I did manage to randomly book a slot for the 8th April which I’m getting sent to my parents house as my dad is a shielded individual. Hopefully that was my prioritised slot, and fingers crossed I can get them one for the next week too.

Milky77 · 30/03/2020 23:08

I have another email address registered. Just logged in with that and there's no spaces at all

Pishposhpashy · 30/03/2020 23:21

Just managed to get on the website but no slots. Oh well. Baby steps.

fedupfrida · 30/03/2020 23:45

We’ve had an email today from Ocado saying ‘when we receive the extra vulnerable list from the government we’ll cross reference it with our customer base and start to prioritise’ WHAT?!? From their website messages they’ve been doing this for the last few days!! They’re really pi**ing me off now. I don’t understand them. 😒

Fredastaireatemyjamsandwich · 31/03/2020 01:58

My mum is vunerable, but is not online (her mobile is a Nokia old school) How can they cross reference when it is not her details on the account? They really are a shambles. I have managed to get a slot with ASDA, for us 14 th April, but nothing for her as they don’t deliver there. I wonder if sending it in a taxi is allowed. It would cost me £60-70.

Milky77 · 31/03/2020 05:33

So the government are sharing a list of vulnerable peooe with corporate organisations?? Wtf?

OP posts:
SurpriseSparDay · 31/03/2020 07:50

It does sound bad when you put it like that, Milky ...

Once this is over our grocery delivery apps will be telling us what we may and may not order for the benefit of our health; removing the ice cream and adding extra spinach to the trolley, whether we like it or not.

Of course, if things get worse not better, desperate zombies will have a useful list of addresses where they may not meet much resistance ...

Fredastaireatemyjamsandwich · 31/03/2020 07:51

When I gave my Mums details on the government site, I don’t remember giving permission for them to pass her details and her status to the supermarket chains, and that is against GDPR regulations, and an action I would extremely angry with. Cross referencing? Absolute Bollocks, just another excuse.

PowerslidePanda · 31/03/2020 08:17

The government isn't sending supermarkets a list of all the "extremely vulnerable" people (i.e. those who got the shielding letters) - only those who've registered on the government website to say they want additional support. They can therefore share personal information for that purpose under the "legitimate interest" part of GDPR without needing to seek permission for every individual element of support they provide. E.g. I know a few such people have started getting boxes of supplies show up at their doorstep - they didn't explicitly seek consent to share data for that purpose either (as above - they didn't need to).

But I do think it's bad that Ocado won't work with the next of kin of shielded people, where they're not able to use Ocado directly.

Milky77 · 31/03/2020 08:31

Haha brilliant, @surprisesparday
I can play hide and seek with the zombies in the meantime

@powerslidepanda that's good to kmow. Thank you

Ethelswith · 31/03/2020 09:13

The government Hub is currently saying that food support is only via food parcel.

There is no option that mentions supermarket delivery slots.

But the supermarkets direct you to the hub.

Meanwhile the slots are filling up, and availability is further and further in the future

So do the vulnerable get no slots? Or wait with (unwanted, unnecessary free food parcels) in the (fading) hope that this time they're on the right list for what they wanted in the first place - proof of status for a supermarket

SurpriseSparDay · 31/03/2020 09:23

Re food parcels for vulnerable people, Apple News provided this photo today of what's being sent to one area ...

Ocado Anytime Smart Pass holders - have you received priority access yet?
RogueV · 31/03/2020 09:30

@Milky77 No not on the vulnerable database

iVampire · 31/03/2020 09:30

Actually a pile of chocolate looks pretty good!

But it’s still a waste of public funds to force those who want access to supermarkets’ priority schemes because they are on the government list, to have free food,

If they had set us up with the option to ‘please pass my details to XYZ supermarket (existing customers) or any supermarket which covers my area (new customers)’ we’d be sorted by now,

iVampire · 31/03/2020 09:32

desperate zombies will have a useful list of addresses where they may not meet much resistance ...

Do not assume that medical vulnerability means you are all round decrepit!

SurpriseSparDay · 31/03/2020 09:36

Hope you'll update us once you've slain them, iVampire!

(Zombies v Vampires = extremely satisfying Buffy territory.)

🧟‍♀️🧟‍♂️🧟

iVampire · 31/03/2020 09:57

I’m slightly less sure of the slaying.

I was counting on running away (to well defended remote citadel)

Because until about 3 weeks ago I was in training for the London Marathon, and hoping for a time not far over Good For Age

(Maybe rewatching Buffy will help fill some days!)

Chezcoope · 31/03/2020 09:58

Does this mean I won't get mine as I joined in January 20? I have a delivery booked but I can't get on to edit it ?

Chezcoope · 31/03/2020 10:02

I am shopping for my dad, 'extra vulnerable' following Ocado guidelines to 'share shopping', but I can't get on the site! How do I register this? He's a diabetic so the Government's hand outs of Crunchie bars is not going to cut it.

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 31/03/2020 10:10

@When is your delivery Chezcoope?

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 31/03/2020 10:10

Sorry: @Chezcoope !

SurpriseSparDay · 31/03/2020 10:21

They're honouring deliveries already booked, Chezcoope. The SmartPass priority is supposed to be limited to those who've had one prior to this year - but it's certainly not clear that SmartPass holders are the only people able to book slots - so who knows?

While breathlessly awaiting my 'Thunderbirds are Go!' email I've been able to access my burgeoning trolley straight away, but there are no slots available (for my area). And the trolley is twice as full as ever before; partly because not going out, partly because so much of habitual shopping is out of stock.

Still ... roof, Internet, absence of zombies. Winning, for the moment.

Milky77 · 31/03/2020 10:24

You've all made my morning 😂

What a lot of sugar that parcel has. Let's hope they aren't diabetic.
