DS friend has died.

DS has just found out his friend has died of the virus. He was apparently quite overweight but was only in his 30’s. I was already taking this seriously and following all the rules but this has made me hyper aware of how important it is that we all do what we are supposed to do. I feel like the surreal has just become very real.

So sorry for anyone who has to grieve friends and family.

H1978 · 26/03/2020 22:34

It definitely makes it more real when someone you know loses their life to the virus

my cousin lost her fil last Sunday to the virus and sil’s auntie lost her mum and dad to it within two days of each other and the really sad thing was they didn’t tell him he had lost his wife in case his health got worst but he never recovered well enough to be told Sad

Deelish75 · 26/03/2020 22:38

So sorry to hear this.

I know someone currently on hospital, he's on the road to recovery luckily. Even though we've hardly gone out it's still really brought it home to me.

Take care and stay well. Flowers

My relative died 3 years ago due to cancer and her husband just passed after contracting the virus, they leave behind their devastated children.

alloutoffucks · 26/03/2020 22:49

I know someone in hospital with this although thankfully it looks like she will recover. She is young and healthy so it was a shock.

MegaClutterSlut · 26/03/2020 22:50

Sorry op, he was way to young to go 😢

I think for a lot of people not listening, until they lose someone they know/love, it won't sink in Sad

SpillTheTeaa · 26/03/2020 22:52

I'm so sorry.
So young too. Stay safe everyone Thanks

minimummum · 26/03/2020 22:54

Sorry to hear of this.

Thinking of all the people who are affected

Bowerbird5 · 26/03/2020 23:03

So sorry to hear of these stories.
Chillilemon those poor children.

My GP told me weeks ago that I had an 80% chance of getting it. I have been self isolating because someone that was here ten days ago child has it.
It isn’t a hardship to self isolate. We have kept busy reading, painting( the sitting room and last bit of the kitchen) gardening, listening to plays and music, baking and watching a bit of telly. I haven’t been out at all for eleven days. We have food but no milk for DH. I have oat milk. We are getting a bit low on veg but that’s all. I don’t understand people that are moaning after two days. I do feel for people stuck in a high rise flat with lots of kids though.

wildcherries · 26/03/2020 23:04

sil’s auntie lost her mum and dad to it within two days of each other

That's heartbreaking. It all is.

I hadn't seen this. Poor, poor children. :(

chillilemon · 26/03/2020 23:22

They will have a good family support but it's not the same as having your parents there. Right now the children are inconsolable. I don't want to give to much identifying information but they are still quite young.

Cindie943811A · 26/03/2020 23:23

Aggravating the loss is the fact that family can’t be with their sick relatives when they die, can’t see them afterwards and have to limit mourners at the funeral to close relatives observing social distancing.
A nightmare situation.

DC10 · 26/03/2020 23:31

@DenimDrift "the Italian Health minister has said our packed tube trains are on a par with their milan football game which accelerated the Italian outbreak"
The packed tube trains aren't the fault of the government but solely down to the London Mayor who's refused to try to resolve the issue. It's absolutely disgraceful of him - and let's make sure that blame falls on the right person for their failings.

oakleaffy · 26/03/2020 23:52

Oh that is just beyond sad. Poor Lad...... This Pandemic is terrifying, It isn't just affecting the 'extremely old' with 'pre-existing' conditions, but the younger people too.
Every sore throat and tickly cough is viewed with anxiety.. It may just be an ordinary cold, or it may be this wretched virus..
Cheltenham, crowded supermarkets, TheTube... Our Govt pushing ''Herd Immunity''..... and then changing their tune, rapidly.
It seems a lot of families are 'going for days out' in cars to pretty areas...
Clearly in some sort of denial, still.
Sad

People just seem to be thinking 'I'm alright Jack". Until it actually touches them they think it won't happen 😥

Holothane · 27/03/2020 00:21

This is so sad people must listen now, hugs to all of you who’ve lost family and friends.

WoollyMollyMonkey · 27/03/2020 00:47

If the tube drivers are off, then who is supposed to drive the trains? The workplaces should have been made to close by the government, that’s who you need to be blaming, they aren’t all NHS workers and carers on those trains.

eaglejulesk · 27/03/2020 01:23

So sorry to hear this OP Flowers

Sparklfairy · 27/03/2020 10:48

This is just awful Sad Your poor DS, I'm his age and it must be such a shock. Flowers for you, him and everyone else on this thread that's lost loved ones.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 27/03/2020 10:53

The packed tube trains are the fault of the government. The mayor took what steps he could to mitigate the spread of the virus.

The packed tubes are due to people who are able to work from home, but instead work for wanker bosses insisting they go to work.

If Boris had enforced this, then the tubes wouldn’t be crowded

LegoBloodyHurts · 27/03/2020 10:55

So sorry OP Sad your poor DS and all this mans friends and family. Flowers
