Only one in the supermarket from each house hold? Is that right? I heard this on another thread and on my whatsapp group but can't find anu offical info?

Why would more than one person need to go

LemonScentedStickyBat · 26/03/2020 16:32

That’s what the supermarkets are asking, yes. Obviously won’t be possible for absolutely every household.

Paperdaisychain · 26/03/2020 16:33

Thats not my question here I'd just like to know what the rules are thanks!

OP posts:
TheGreatWave · 26/03/2020 16:34

Not official, but most are politely requesting it.

Paperdaisychain · 26/03/2020 16:34

@lemonscented do you have a source for that so I can show it to someone?

OP posts:
TheFairyCaravan · 26/03/2020 16:35

Apparently so, although our Aldi have said if you're a single parent or someone with a disability who needs help then you can take your kids/carer.

TheGreatWave · 26/03/2020 16:35

It was just my local Tesco on a FB post.

Paperdaisychain · 26/03/2020 16:35

Ah its not an official rule? Has anu supermarket published this online anywhere I can't find anything.

OP posts:
Paperdaisychain · 26/03/2020 16:37

Can anyone link to anything I'm not seeing it from the horses mouth yet so to speak!

OP posts:
TheGreatWave · 26/03/2020 16:39

I think it is more a common sense thing. Most are limiting the numbers in at any one time, so if two go in together, the person behind will have to wait longer.

So whilst not forbidden, it is best not to.

Jollitwiglet · 26/03/2020 16:40

I mean surely it's common sense? If you are able to shop alone, you do so. It minimises the chances of passing on or picking up the virus.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 26/03/2020 16:42

Why do you need to know/see a link if it’s official? Is common sense not enough? The shop I went in had a sign up.

Paperdaisychain · 26/03/2020 16:42

Ah ok so its not actually a government measure as yet. Its just some were posting on my whats app that it was an enforceable rule. Thanks for clearing that up!

OP posts:
Paperdaisychain · 26/03/2020 16:44

@georgie I just needed to know if it was now a legal requirement.

OP posts:
GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 26/03/2020 16:44

Well it will be enforceable.... by the supermarkets!

OatMilkAddict · 26/03/2020 16:44

Why would more than one person need to go
Because we're shopping for three households, and sometimes neighbours too, and there's a limit on many items. DH has a second trolley which he pays for separately for his parents. This allows us to get round these limits a bit. 2 cans of tomatoes is not going to feed 8 adults across three houses!

SimonJT · 26/03/2020 16:45

@maleficent53 Single parents of young children/children with SEND won’t be able to shop alone.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 26/03/2020 16:45

Legal? As in you will be arrested? The police don’t have time for that! Come on. Please start being sensible.

Lovebug06 · 26/03/2020 16:48

I went to a supermarket earlier. Only allowing a certain amount in then its one in one out. Queuing two metres apart outside. Saw two people together and they were told only one of them could go in.

Paperdaisychain · 26/03/2020 16:49

Good grief I just wanted to know if anyone had any real evidence of this being a new requirement. I have my reasons for needing to know which are not to do with my own shopping as I am getting deliveries.

I can't find any evidence of this and none posted here so its so far just talk.

People are truly losing the plot it seems and getting angry far to quickly!

Come to our Lidl. Whole families enjoying a day out, kids running wild. It made an already stressful visit for essentials even worse.

2020newme · 26/03/2020 16:51

Supermarkets near me also refusing to allow two adults to come in together.

Make sense to me.

It doesn't have to be law OP - if the shop says you can't come in, that's it.

TreeTopTim · 26/03/2020 16:55

This was on a Facebook. The person who posted it works for Tesco.

Only one at a time in the supermarket
Barbie222 · 26/03/2020 16:56

It's common sense. As can be seen on lots of threads here recently, a lot of people who thought they needed help with visiting the supermarket are managing to go alone now and well done to them. Obviously not everyone can, but a lot of people needed that little shove and managed.

Paperdaisychain · 26/03/2020 16:57

Yes but have any supermarkets published that anywhere, social media for example? If anyone has a link please could you send that to me or pm it to me?
