Chest pains

I've had them for a week, no fever and I feel fine other than that. I suffer from anxiety so I'd assumed that was all that was going on. I'm early 30s and no history of chest issues before. It's starting to bother me more this week as things feel constricted a little. I literally have no other symptoms. I'm now staying with a family member who is an NHS worker (scientist). I feel super worried, I don't want to pull her out of work for no reason but I also don't want this to be CV and pass it on. I have not left the house since Sunday. I am not sure whether to isolate, don't have a continuous cough or fever but feel something is not right now.

Any advice would be lovely x

No advice I'm afraid but i can feel a noticeable difference in my chest too, a sort of heavy feeling, no fever no cough though - not sure if i am imagining it

Pennyandthejets · 25/03/2020 13:34

Thanks for replying @MrsNezbit. Have you felt like this for a while? I hope you feel better soon Flowers.

I've asked my family member to talk to her manager... I really don't want to pull her out of work when her role is so critical without reason but I'm so worried of getting it wrong also.

Thank you! Yes, have felt like this for at least a week, but also had what was diagnosed as a throat infection a few weeks ago, fever, chills, aches and horrific sore throat, but no cough which is why doc thought throat infection... now i have this heavy chest feeling and not sure what to think.
I have the same kind of predicament as husband is hospital worker and I dont want him to isolate unnecessarily

littlemissmuffins · 25/03/2020 14:12

I'm having the exact same. Also early 30s and no history of chest issues, although I have occasionally had the odd bout here and there since I had adenovirus in Jan.

I've had since Monday - slight sore throat and these almost constant chest pains. Feels slightly difficult to take a deep breath in and the weirdest stabby pains in all different places.

Completely puzzled too.

My last potential exposure was 7 days ago so just on a waiting game. Do you know when you could have been last exposed??

dontdisturbmenow · 25/03/2020 14:21

Same here. Have had a tingling sore throat for about 10 days but now really sore. I had pain in my back and feel like my chest is being squeezed. I am not coughing but feel like I want to a lot. I definitely feel pressure. I gave no fever, no aches and actually feel very well otherwise. It had gone this morning so was very happy but now back with a vengeance.

Littleninja1 · 25/03/2020 14:25

That's how mine started. I have been assessed by two GPs and an A&E doc. No fever or cough, chest tightness, pain, intense breathlessness and severe chills. Diagnosed with CV but not swabbed, verbal diagnosis from all three. A&E doc was particularly dismissive of a cough or fever being distinguishing factors.

It comes and goes massively. Hopefully you have a mild case if you don't have any other symptoms. Drink lots of fluid, it's really important. Take paracetamol every four hours if in pain.

And isolate!

Falangalangadingdang · 25/03/2020 14:25

Same here. There was a thread yesterday and I thought that's me when reading what one poster had put.

confusednortherner · 25/03/2020 14:28

I'm in same situation, chest is just really painful. My ribs literally feel bruised, previously had sore throat and cold symptoms but no fever and I cough all winter so no change to that. Gp has prescribed antibiotics for chest infection but not helping yet....

monstermunchforlunch · 25/03/2020 14:32

That’s what I’ve been having too. Sore spots in my chest and the top of my breastbone feels bruised. No cough or fever although I’ve had a sore-ish throat for a few weeks but not sore enough to take anything. Also I can only take a full breath every 5-6 breaths, not every time if that makes sense. I’m slightly achy but putting that down to doing Joe Wicks.

monstermunchforlunch · 25/03/2020 14:35

Also both DC have had standard cold symptoms recently and DH was ill about a month ago - chills, breathlessness and tiredness for about 4 days and then as soon as it came it was gone. Wondering if this is it for us?!

Pennyandthejets · 25/03/2020 14:44

Wow there's loads of us!! I don't want to call 111 because they obviously have much more severe cases but its sounding like a lot of use have the same....very suspicious. I don't remember ever having this feeling in the past. I'm still working from home, it's not really affecting me much other than slight discomfort.

I wish they'd start testing NHS workers ASAP. They clearly need to, my sister has told me that half her lab is isolating!

This is such a difficult call 😞

Pennyandthejets · 25/03/2020 14:51

Thanks littleninja. Have decided to call my GP surgery and the GP is going to call back. I'll let you all know what the GP says x

I have chest pain too and been more breathless than usual. Presumed it was either my asthma playing up or anxiety. No cough, sore throat, perfectly normal temperature. I was very achy yesterday but I have a connective tissue disorder so not exactly unusual but just didn't feel my usual achy if that makes sense.

Toddler has woken with a fever and sore throat with a headache. She has literally only just got over chicken pox, still even has a few scabs left. I'm really worried about her

Pennyandthejets · 25/03/2020 14:54

@Littleninja1 can you describe a timeline of your symptoms? Did they progress from the chest feeling? I'm now stressing if I have it I could have passed it onto someone in the supermarket over the weekend or my grandparents and mum when I delivered their shopping. I was sure it must have been anxiety.

@Jollitwiglet I'm sorry the little one is now poorly. Fingers crossed its nothing but sending you best wishes Flowers

A month ago I had a fever then severe central chest pain for a week. Never had anything like it before. Did wonder if I had mild symptoms of this.

I live in Westminster which was one of the earliest areas to have cases.

Littleninja1 · 25/03/2020 14:59

@pennyandthejets (love your username - big Elton fan here Grin)

You need to read this thread, we all start detailing symptoms day by day. I will link to the follow up thread too www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/3850594-My-lungs-feel-like-they-are-on-fire-Anyone-else

georgialondon · 25/03/2020 15:00

Not sure there's any point in phoning gp or 111 given the current guidelines I think they'd just say to stay at home.

TheVanguardSix · 25/03/2020 15:07

I just want to jump in and present a different possibility: SCAD is a sudden coronary artery dissection- literally a tear in the artery which brings on heart attack and is the main cause of heart attack in women between 30 and 50. It typically strikes women in their 30s who are pregnant or post-partum or women my age, late 40s who are perimenopausal. Women who suffer from connective tissue disorders are more at risk. There is a link between fluctuating hormones (such as during and after pregnancy and during the perimenopause/menopausal phase). Although it is rare to have a heart attack at a young age, if you have chest pain, you need to get an ECG.
I was sure I had covid-19. My chest was burning and tight. I collapsed on a dog walk and went into cardiac arrest. My symptoms were sudden. But more often, women who suffer a heart attack courtesy of an arterial dissection can have symptoms for days.
Before I collapsed I rang 999 and a person who found me also rang for an ambulance. I live to fight another day.
The reason I am sharing this story is that my first thought when this happened on my dog walk was, "Fuck. I've got covid and my chest is burning." My breathing was affected, my chest was tight and painful. I was fast thinking because I knew that having Lupus myself and seeing what Lupus did to my dad's heart has always made me hyper-aware of my own heart.
At any rate, get your heart checked. SCAD is incredibly rare. But it's really important for you to rule that out, OP. Have your GP run an ECG. Check your pulse and BP too if you can.

littlemissmuffins · 25/03/2020 16:32

Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your DC Penny

Pennyandthejets · 25/03/2020 17:14

Hi everyone 😊. I spoke to my GP who has basically said its anxiety and not to stop my sister from going into work. I think I feel a bit better... I'm not sure. The cat sitting on my chest has lost some weight maybe? Haha

I hope you're all looking after yourselves. X
