Chest pains

Pennyandthejets · 25/03/2020 11:54

I've had them for a week, no fever and I feel fine other than that. I suffer from anxiety so I'd assumed that was all that was going on. I'm early 30s and no history of chest issues before. It's starting to bother me more this week as things feel constricted a little. I literally have no other symptoms. I'm now staying with a family member who is an NHS worker (scientist). I feel super worried, I don't want to pull her out of work for no reason but I also don't want this to be CV and pass it on. I have not left the house since Sunday. I am not sure whether to isolate, don't have a continuous cough or fever but feel something is not right now.

Any advice would be lovely x

I have also had chest discomfort (couldn’t call it pain).

No history of chest infection or anxiety.

Have had it for 14 days with a slightly elevated temp (99.6) for two days about a week ago. Developing a very mild cough this week. It’s very strange.

Not unwell but not right

Runnerduck34 · 25/03/2020 17:58

Watching with interest as Im experiencing tightness in chest and feel a bit out of breath if i walk upstairs which isnt normal. Have a slight dry cough but not coughing very much. Feel a bit achy but managed to work from home all day so not bed ridden , I don't have a temperature. But this chest tightness is getting on my nerves, no idea what to do to help it, any ideas?
DC had dry coughs so we've been self isolating for a week but they had no other symptoms and felt fine so didnt think it was covid 19 but now I'm thinking maybe it is.

Guys go on to the 'My lungs are burning' thread. There are loads of us with symptoms of a tight chest on there and many have been told we have Covid by doctors.

fadingfast · 25/03/2020 18:11

I have also had very similar symptoms for about a week now. Constricted breathing and tightness in the chest, which I initially thought was anxiety but I'm pretty sure now that it isn't. No raised temp and no particular need to cough. I have also had a dry and sore mouth, possibly oral thrush (which I have never previously suffered from).

I've not been out anywhere since last week (now 7 days) but not been isolating myself within the household as I initially didn't think it could possibly be C19, and of course now it's too late. DH now has mild symptoms that he thinks is just a cold.

I just wish there was a way of getting a test Confused

@Pennyandthejets

I have had a feeling in my chest for a couple of weeks. It just sort of feels a bit irritated, but not all the time, it comes and goes but I felt it more today. Every so often but quite rarely I laugh a little bit - slight wet cough sorry TMI but not string.... I am scared that I have it and it is going to get worse.

Apparently an Irish pastor who gave a radio interview in Belfast today is in hospital and never had a cough OR a fever just increasing chest tightening until he could barely breathe.

I am quite anxious about this.
I'm 43.

Fairywater · 25/03/2020 19:26

@georgialondon how are you feeling now? Thanks

@Littleninja1 the feeling I have also comes and goes.. that's why I have been dismissing it. So I have been out and about and really close to my dc and dh.

georgialondon · 25/03/2020 19:35

@Fairywater back to normal thanks

Cough, not laugh Grin

Daffodil1967 · 25/03/2020 19:44

Gosh, me too.

Little niggly pains every few hours. I’m hoping it’s anxiety and will stop when all this is over. Frightening though.

Littleninja1 · 25/03/2020 20:39

I really can't recommend enough reading through the threads I linked to and Kayak also mentioned. All these points are discussed thoroughly on there including reporting back from doctors appointments and a&e.

Daffodil1967 · 25/03/2020 21:49

Thanks littleninja1.
Went and a quick read. I was too busy worrying about my little chest pains today, I’d forgotten about the pain in my back, my legs, weird taste in mouth. Today I had to come in from the shed because I was breathless and tired. All these things are unusual to me, though I just put it down to old age. I’m not as hungry either. But that could be because I don’t want to run out of food.

Springbubble912 · 25/03/2020 21:52

Look on the thread about feeling like lungs are burning

There are lots of people there with chest pains and various other symptoms

Daffodil1967 · 25/03/2020 21:58

Ooookaaaayyy.

Reading through, remembering the feelings in the back of my throat ( had it 5 days or so) like I’m going to start coughing but don’t actually start coughing. Never had before either. Apologies for my multiple posts.

carlywurly · 25/03/2020 22:08

Me too with this. Had a scratchy throat, no temperature and intermittent tight chest for about a week. It's a really weird feeling, as though I couldn't always quite get a full breath. I've had chills but no fever. Temp normal, very occasional cough, no fatigue.

I put it down to a combination of getting over a cold and anxiety, but anxiety has never affected me this way before.

MisssC3025 · 25/03/2020 22:25

Hi OP and everyone else!

I can't believe I'm reading this thread as it's exactly what I have had the last two weeks! Tightness in chest, breathlessness and palpitations. I'm 30weeks preg at the moment. I used online 111 and requested a call and they mentioned it sounds like anxiety, as I had no other CV symptoms...plus I've been off sick (complicated pregnancy issues) since January so haven't been around many people at all.

I've had major anxiety in the past, so I think for the most of us this terrible news and worrying about loved ones and finances is heightening everyone's anxiety! Plus being pregnant for me (with my little baby boy not being very well) is adding to the worry.

I've been so glad it's sunny, as I've spent last few days in my garden breathing in fresh air! I hope you all find comfort and hope ASAP.

Stay safe everyone x

Sunnyhopefulness · 26/03/2020 14:58

I had the chest pain at the very start of March - it took about a week to develop a slight cough and feel a bit spaced out - difficult to think straight ... no idea whether I had a temp - I didn’t consider I was unwell so didn’t check it - it’s 3 + weeks now... though I no longer feel at all unwell I still get the odd chest discomfort and exercise makes me more breathless than normal - there is obviously something going around - who knows whether it’s mild covid 19 .

vegvegveg · 26/03/2020 15:22

I've been achy and exhausted in waves, slightly tight chest, and a feeling of pressure between my breastbone and shoulder blades, and a tickly cough but only in the evening. This has been going on for at least a week, no idea if it is corona but I'm wondering now
