If you’ve had mild corona what did it feel like?

Was coughing last evening. I never have a cough. It didn’t feel severe. I went to bed and didn’t cough all night and slept ok. Coughing a bit this morning. Coughing is really unusual for me. I haven’t had a bad cough in years.

I have a banging headache but that isn’t much difference to normal. Due to jaw clenching in the night I often wake up with headache but this one feels worse.

But I have no fever, no aches or pains just feeling really tired but again this could be easily explained having two kids home 🤣.

I feel quite congested, slightly snotty, metallic taste in my mouth and a sense of something’s up my nose the best way to explain is like a chemical smell is irritating my nose.

I’ve also had an irritating sore throat for a few days.

Anyone else?

Thank you. This is what I thought myself but someone I know has had a sore throat and cold symptoms as well as a cough they were told by a doctor to treat it as corona because of the cough. It’s all so confusing!

I thought sore throat and headaches were a symptom.

BrokenLink · 25/03/2020 07:42

Yes me too. I started with the same symptoms 5 days ago. It's frustrating not knowing if this is Covid 19. The government rules say I should go back to work after day 7 but this does not sit right with me. I work for the NHS so it's considered essential. Additionally, I am concerned that if I haven't had Covid 19, I will catch it whilst my body is still convalescing from the first virus. People in our position really need to be tested for Covid 19 to ensure we are not putting other people and ourselves at risk.

merrygoround51 · 25/03/2020 07:43

Check the nhs website not a forum for symptoms

JustDanceAddict · 25/03/2020 07:44

If you have a new cough please SI though. I think I have had CV - started w sore throat for 2 days, then temperature, felt terrible, slow recovery for another week w exhaustion.
No massive cough to speak of, but I’m still coughing on and off and chest has felt tight too. Took me a week to feel well in myself (day 11 now).

Meredithgrey1 · 25/03/2020 07:45

Sore throat definitely is listed as a symptom. Congestion isn't.

fluffdeloop · 25/03/2020 07:45

headache and sore throat are symptoms, as is a funny taste in the mouth , changes in smell. wish people would stop making things up or actually research before they post advice to people!

coconuttelegraph · 25/03/2020 07:47

How does anyone know if they're had a mild case, how would they get a test?

Yester · 25/03/2020 07:48

Sore throat and headache are a symptom as can be a bit of phglem but not a streaming cold.

I am pretty certain I had it: started with exhaustion and feeling spacey. Then a horrible headache, then 2 days later a fever and sleeping all the time. No energy/body aches for another 2 days. Horrible taste in mouth/loss of appetite and sense of taste. Then a cough that got increasingly bad for now over 2 weeks. Couldn't speak without coughing. Made me vomit on a few occasions.
Still very tired and wiped out doing basic stuff.
But very lucky as only a mild wheeze.

donquixotedelamancha · 25/03/2020 07:49

Congestion is not a symptom. Or sore throat, or headaches. There are plenty of bugs still going around

It's so nice when the first reply is a sensible one. So much batshitery on here recently.

Covid 19 can be asymptomatic or can seem just like a cold. Many colds and flus are other types of coronavirus.

Nobody should be assuming they are immune without a test.

robinsnest1967 · 25/03/2020 07:50

I felt like I had swallowed a pack of razor blades. This went on for about 4 days then I felt like someone was sitting on my chest and it was harder to breathe. This and the sore throat went on for another few days then I started with a cough. BUT I had no fever, no sweats and I didn't feel massively unwell like you do with flu.

CodenameVillanelle · 25/03/2020 07:51

Actually congestion is present in up to 30% of cases.

I can only assume I had it but of course can't be sure. Started with sore throat then a dry cough. Headache and slight earache. Temperature went up slightly on one day but down again and never went very high. Felt weak and breathless but never massively unwell. Now day 8 after first symptom and I'm left with a snotty nose That appeared on day 6 (but I have chronic rhinitis anyway)

TKAAHUARTG · 25/03/2020 07:53

wish people would stop making things up or actually research before they post advice to people! please link to your research. The OP stated they get regular headaches from jaw clenching. How do you actually know when so few people are being tested?

fluffdeloop · 25/03/2020 07:58

do your own research it's all over the WHO and nhs websites

SuperFurryDoggy · 25/03/2020 07:58

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don't feel unwell

From www.who.int/news-room/q-a-detail/q-a-coronaviruses

If you get one of the most common symptoms, a temperature OR a new continuous cough, you need to self-isolate.

userxx · 25/03/2020 08:05

A sore throat is one of the symptoms.

Barkingfuckingdogs · 25/03/2020 08:06

I've got it. Started with a sore throat, then a cough and breathlessness, then headaches, nausea and an upset stomach. Exhausted for a couple of days and had to go to bed in the daytime. Lots of burping too weirdly! All totally manageable and I was functioning as normal throughout most of it. Just got the last remains of the cough left now and a bit of crackling in my pipes. Oh and lastly, it made my sciatica flare up massively too.

TKAAHUARTG · 25/03/2020 08:07

I did Fluff, you were the one who said I was making it up. Those symptoms are very rare in CV. What is the actual point in self diagnosing? We should all be practising isolation anyway, why whip up panic about possibly having it? There is just no actual point.

rumandbiscuits · 25/03/2020 08:08

@CodenameVillanelle interesting you say about the earache. I never have earaches or ear infections ever but one started last week along with sore throat and just won't budge!!! I think I've probably coughed about 4 times in a week though so it's made me think it can't be CV and I'm just being paranoid. I had a bad headache yday but they aren't unusual for me.

I really wish we could test so we wouldn't have to second guess every slight symptom we get, especially because we are all now hyper aware of every ache and pain we have.

abigailthespiderinthehat · 25/03/2020 08:17

OP your symptoms are exactly the same as mine- I was still going to work (key worker) until a couple of days ago when DD developed a cough. Her cough hasn't worsened and now it's only first thing in the morning. Toddler also has the cold but temperature only lasted the night. Not sure whether to return to work now?

Aurea · 25/03/2020 08:21

I’m pretty sure I’ve had it and am on day 7 now and am feeling slightly better. I even know who I caught it from who was officially diagnosed.

After exposure, I took seven days to show my first symptoms. My first symptom was when I was climbing a small hill and developed tight chest pains (first ever occurrence).

I subsequently had the sensation of a tight, hot band constricting around my chest above my bra line and out between my shoulder blades, knife like pains in my chest when I breathed in, weird dry cough, swollen glands, lumpy throat but no temperature. I’ve spoken to a doctor twice and they said it’s very likely to be CV.

I’m feeling a little better now after a week but I still v wobbly and my chest doesn’t feel quite right. Although it’s clear, it feels strained and tired somehow.

I hope this reassures some of you.

CodenameVillanelle · 25/03/2020 08:34

Why would you go back to work?

It's 14 days isolation for you all, obviously. Your keyworker job doesn't mean the guidelines don't apply to you.

abigailthespiderinthehat · 25/03/2020 08:41

I feel like I should be returning to work because the symptoms are not a continuous cough or a fever. I feel like I'm pulling a sickie. What if we actually get real symptoms later on? Yes I'd rather be home- I've no desire to put myself in the firing line but I feel like a fraud.

fluffdeloop · 25/03/2020 09:58

its not about putting yourself in the firing line it's about you causing damage to others.
a fever isn't present in all cases, my sister is a confirmed case as she is nhs and was tested didnt have a fever just a the heavy chest, cough by day 3 and generally feeling rough.
