Do you think the situation will impact your fitness?

I’m a runner - so that’s ok
But I’m missing studio yoga and swimming

I don’t think it will impact my fitness as I can run and do home workouts but I do think my flexibility may suffer slightly as I don’t have access to a hot yoga studio.

How’s others feeling.... home work outs or not in the mood unless a proper gym class?

I do three spin classes a week, then some weights, and do a long hill walk at weekend if it’s dry. All I have done today is bloody eat and watch bloody tv and read my book, I’m going to have to stop eating, especially sweet stuff.

I feel like a fat pig 🐽 I’m a disgrace, did not even bother to get dressed, or shower.

Only positive thing I did was make two fish pies, and got up to date with the washing as it was a good drying day

Yes but not in the same way. I'm a recovering anorexic and havent had a problem like this in 3 years. I am worried about keeping g the weight on and therefore exercising as little as possible which isnt good overall.

CalleighDoodle · 24/03/2020 22:17

Im in agony after doing the two joe wicks pe lessons this week.

Glaceon · 24/03/2020 22:17

I've also got an extremely mentally unstable partner which is not fun. Already had to have police out. Very supportive towards me this time thankfully.

kateybeth79 · 24/03/2020 22:17

Yes!! I like going to the gym, Pilates and yoga but am rubbish at doing it at home, I have no motivation. I hate running but I'm going to go with my daughter, who's a gymnast and has to keep up her fitness levels.

MrsMigginsPie · 24/03/2020 22:18

Yup...definitely for the worse at this precise moment. Feeling rather bleargh and pointless so eating and drinking more than usual with bare minimum of exercise for me. Feel torn between feeling I should be working, to feeling I should be educating, to just feeling I should be spending time being normal silly ‘us’ as a family that exercise is low on the list.

But know I’ll feel so much better mentally if I do something everyday. And so I think that I’ll probably rally and then get back into a routine - almost needs that mental switch and self kick up the arse in my brain to do it.

Zisforstripyoss · 24/03/2020 22:18

No, I'm running early doors, 6am ish.

I'm also keeping up with my weights and yoga as I do it at home anyway.

Also have 2 DCs who are loving PE with Joe Wicks, which is a proper workout, I burnt 200 calories on monday according to my Garmin!

Zisforstripyoss · 24/03/2020 22:19

Down Dog is a good yoga app and I like Yoga with Adriene on youtube.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/03/2020 22:21

I usually do 16-17,000 steps a day. Had a long walk around my local park. So manager 13,000. Just taken up hydrospin and aqua fit. And was really feeling the benefit of it so going to miss that.

CorbynsComrade · 24/03/2020 22:32

Yup I’m a weightlifter so my big 3 are going to suffer. There’s only so much I can do to make up at home

RaininSummer · 24/03/2020 22:36

If I used this opportunity wisely, and didnt get, Covid, I could get fitter as a walk every day and possibly some yogs instead of sitting on my bum all day has to be good. I really enjoyed today but I dont have kids to wrangle .

Youngatheart00 · 24/03/2020 22:40

Wow, impressed at the motivation and drive of many. I’m afraid I’ve gone the other way. Struggling to get 7,000 steps in and largely sedentary other than that. Snacking and drinking and can just feel the weight piling on even though it’s only been a week. Don’t seem to be able to get the mindset to want to do anything. Other than work (at home) and a daily stroll, all I want to do is sleep. I want to find my motivation but don’t know how, when I’m feeling so low.

ragged · 24/03/2020 22:44

I just am not a home work out person. It won't happen.
I am grateful to have a large garden so hopefully that will provide some activity, until gardening gets banned too.

Usually I go thru 2500 kcal/day; in spite of a 4.5 mile run I only burnt 2k calories today. Reckon my fitness will decline, especially after they ban running & cycling.

WwfLeopard · 24/03/2020 22:47

I have been gaining muscle and losing fat for 2 years, almost at my target and now I’m going to either deflate and look terrible and saggy, or just get fat. My cardio/fitness is easier to compensate when stuck at home, although my working hours have doubled with all the technical problems and a high percentage of staff off, so might not have time for anything at this rate

PinkBuffalo · 24/03/2020 22:50

It already has.
It took so much for me to join a gym. A small local one. We became a family.
Really struggle online, miss everyone as by my own. Not know what to do without coach ( although they very good live online but it not the same)
Lost a lot of my communication "skills" as a result of not seeing anyone other than a couple of people at work. Loss of verbal & communication skills has led to me getting in trouble at work.
I could lose everything by the end of this. Even when this over, chances of me going back to gym cos I get used to not going will be slim to none. My brain struggles to cope sometimes with change in routine etc and after humiliating myself at work after getting overwhelmed, if this lasts 3 months I not sure where I be at the end - will I even have a job? (Technically yes if I was normal as work for emergency service so role "safe" but I not normal and even less so cos under stress I evidently become distressed so will see where my referral at work will lead - no doubt unemployment, and not sure how I would go back to gym after not seeing everyone)
I know it to keep everyone safe, but no one worries about the likes of me who massively depend on routine and familiarity and good friends helping. Everyone just say stay at home, which I now do when get home from work.

Dixiechickonhols · 24/03/2020 22:53

Yes missing regular swimming and second walk. I walk usually twice a day for decent time/distance. As someone who spent years not exercising suprised me how much I've missed it already.

Shodan · 24/03/2020 23:00

I'll be fitter in some ways- ds1 has been training to join the army and been a regular gym visitor, so has bought a bunch of equipment for the garage which apparently I'm 'welcome to use'. I've also been running with ds2 and there'll be cycling too.

On my own I've been doing weighted squats, tricep dips and v sits, and plan to practice kata in the garden- but I will miss the high intensity of my karate classes.

Hedgehogblues · 24/03/2020 23:07

I'll get fitter. I know this situation could really make my mental health nose dive and exercising really boosts my mood.

ComtesseDeSpair · 24/03/2020 23:13

I’ll miss my gym and can’t compensate for it at home - I have kettle bells but not the weights I’m used to lifting with my PT. But I’ll definitely be running at least 10km every day as my once daily exercise and will be cycling to and from work whereas I usually take the tube, so that’s additional fitness.

But I think a lot of people who are usually pretty sedentary will do a bit more, just so they can get out of the house, and that will be beneficial all around.

browzingss · 24/03/2020 23:15

Absolutely not

I’m never normally at home, I miss my normal routine - I’m snacking and eating out of sheer boredom

Have no home gym or garden space so can’t really do much at homeSad

Womenwotlunch · 24/03/2020 23:17

I go to the gym five times a week, a mixture of spin, weights, boxing and Callanetics
I haven’t done anything for a week. I have just been eating loads . I have probably gained about five pounds.
I have decided that from tomorrow, I will do my Insanity tapes every day

fruitpastille · 25/03/2020 06:58

I'm frustrated that I have to use up my exercise allowance making sure that the children get out for a walk. 6 year olds can be stubborn so I don't get the speed and distance I'd like. Ideally I'd go for a run as well as taking kids out.

GG20 · 25/03/2020 07:06

Yes. I normally walk to work and back and at lunchtime, go to the gym most mornings and do spin classes several times a week. I'll be trying to do a home workout video in the mornings and a walk/run in the afternoon or evening, but I also like eating (and it's too easy to snack lots when working from home) so I expect to get fat!

madcatladyforever · 25/03/2020 07:10

I'm desperate for some exercise, I work 12 hours NHS a day at the moment and I'm too knackered to go out when I get home and I'm getting fat.
My last house had a 200 foot garden so I'd go out and dig for hours but current garden is a courtyard so very little to do there.
