I'll start! I've got some fresh daffodils in the living room which smell lovely. I have a little balcony, so I can have a bit of outdoors and sunshine. I've just made a whopping vat of soup!

What's helping you feel ok, so far, during the crisis?

I've taken a few days off work this week to think about things. Back to work next week. Time off work is always good. I might have time to watch a few films and do some things I've been meaning to do for a while.

I'm not scared at all about any of this. It's out of my hands.

MummyGoingItAlone · 24/03/2020 10:58

I’m enjoying not having to rush around. Life is a constant race against the clock for me and my toddler. Right now he’s playing upstairs before his nap and I’m laying down chilling. There is nowhere to be, nothing that urgently needs doing, it’s bliss

Waspnest · 24/03/2020 11:01

Seed sowing in the greenhouse with the radio on. In fact the radio has been brilliant, the presenters are trying to keep everything normal and reassuring.

niffynoonoo · 24/03/2020 11:03

hanging washing outside in the back garden, beautiful spring day!

mrswhiplington · 24/03/2020 11:05

niffy that's exactly what I was coming on to say.

It is warm in the sunshine. First time this year I have hung it out. Hope springs eternal.

Strawberrycreamsundae · 24/03/2020 11:08

I’m high risk so haven’t been out anyway. Thank heavens for my little garden, pootling around out there is my lifesaver. The sun’s warm, birds are flocking to the feeders and spring flowers are popping up everywhere. I’m getting the sun lounger out shortly and setting down with a book, coffee and the radio 😎

niffynoonoo · 24/03/2020 11:13

we`ve literally just moved house as well, so DH can now properly sort the garage out!! place is a tip!! Get onto the house jobs and gardening.

Its not all bad.

SilverOtter · 24/03/2020 11:23

The sunshine. I've actually been able to sit out in the garden with a cup of tea, which is lovelySmile

Eckhart · 24/03/2020 11:50

Ah, these are lovely! It's great that lots of us can enjoy the spring without going out.

SilverOtter I have a mental image of you as an actual silver otter, holding a cup of tea in its flipper, relaxing in the garden :)

Getting out in the garden for at least an hour a day to play with the kids has been the best part of each day so far for us.

Also hanging out the washing is bliss!

rainbow1982 · 24/03/2020 18:23

I'm nearly 30 weeks pregnant and do do happy we got organised early and had bought nappies and wipes weekly for the last few months so that I'm not in a total panic!

Only today I've started to feel really tearful and anxious about not being able to spend these last 10 weeks going out with my lovely fiancé as a couple for the last times BUT I gave myself a shake and went and sat in the baby's room picturing what life will be like when we're a family 🥰 also I have lots of lovely crafty things I want to make for the nursery that I luckily have all of the supplies for already!

I'm also going to work my way through my bookcase as I'm sure reading will take a back seat soon,

Chin up everyone, this will pass 👍😁

cactus2020 · 24/03/2020 18:33

Ah good. Other people who love a wash flapping on the line. First of the year. Teens think I'm a saddo Grin

TheoriginalLEM · 24/03/2020 18:38

My DP is a carpenter and has no work at the moment, just finished making something for someone, invested in materials and now can't fit it.

Was feeling crap, it's his birthday and it's all a bit shit. He was pissing around in the garden generally clearing the carnage that is the garden and he has made a fantastic garden bench out of a minging old pallet. It looks like a really nice bit of rustic oak furniture Grin

Eckhart · 24/03/2020 18:56

He sounds useful, original Tell him happy birthday from me and I'll bake him a birthday cake if he makes me a chair out of a pallet Grin

Not having to get up at 6:30am (still working as NHS but not needing to get DS to school first). No running round like a crazy person in the evenings to activities/clubs. Weekends are homework free as all work is done during the week. Feel justified wearing PJs all day if I wish when I'm not at work. Husband will be more involved in school stuff as he will have to supervise it when I'm not here..

Bunnylady54 · 24/03/2020 19:11

Loving these positive threads as I am reading/hearing way too much about more deaths, new cases, not enough PPE etc etc. And I just found out that the store where I work isn’t closing so I won’t get paid as I won’t risk going in ( did have the excuse of no childcare but not now as DH has also stopped working)
Anyway, I too feel better for the change in the weather. Never thought the rain would stop! Enjoying spending time with DD, although we may have to physically prise her off her screens! The radio is a real comfort & tv that’s nothing to do with CV. Good to make plans & lists ( I absolutely love lists!) Encouraging DD to write letters & I want to do the same. I might even start a novel.

rc22 · 24/03/2020 19:15

Coordinating shopping for my elderly parents means that I have been speaking to my brother every day when normally we can go weeks without speaking.

Heathercob · 24/03/2020 19:16

This little purry guy and some good books 😻😻!

highlandcoo · 24/03/2020 19:17

I am going to grow vegetables, something I've been meaning to try for ages and now no excuse!

I don't have a lot of space so will mix them in amongst the shrubs in the flower beds.

I've ordered propagator trays, compost and seeds from our lovely local family hardware shop (or ironmongers as I'd call it) for home delivery, which is how they are continuing to trade.

Looking forward to the project Smile

thequeenbeyondthewall · 24/03/2020 19:20

I don't think I've ever smelt daffodils! What do they smell like?

Tartyflette · 24/03/2020 19:22

I found a bit of self-care very comforting today. A lovely, invigorating hot shower, hair and nails done, sorting the bedroom to make it calm and relaxed, oh, and fresh clean sheets on the bed.
And it was indeed very good to be able to sit in the garden and enjoy the sun this afternoon. All in all, not a bad day.

groovejet · 24/03/2020 19:22

Being able to give the garden a good sort out, was visited by a little robin today as I was digging.

Listening to next doors young children, I had come across an old tub of pavement chalk so left it on their doorstep. Heard them using it saying that today was going to be a day of colour.

Jellykat · 24/03/2020 19:22

I'm managing to tidy my garden, having not had time for nearly 2 years,
and i washed my windows today for the first time this year..i can actually see out of them now!
Plus im loving not wearing make up Smile

thequeenbeyondthewall · 24/03/2020 19:23

Positives today are that I'm enjoying teaching my six year old at home. We've had a good laugh today and it's just been nice.

My husband stayed in the spare room working and came down about seven so it was like he'd been in work as usual. My work has been really quiet. I wfh also.

I'm missing my parents though. Think they are getting passed off with me FaceTiming them so often.

Nononoandno · 24/03/2020 19:27

Going to bed at 9pm so I’m missing a few hours of gloom and doom on the news, getting up at 6am and outside is so quiet and peaceful and it for a few hours it feels like the CV madness isn’t happening, then I head out for a country walk at 7am seeing all the wildlife and birds tweeting and busy building their nests, then back home for 8am for shower breakfast and log on for work about 8.30. This routine is helping me so I just watch the news and guidelines at 6pm fog an hour then switch i it off before phoning round relatives and friends, also in bed i watch YouTube of mud larking on river Thames ... it’s an escape!!
