We have received this snap on our local estates fb page (from the moderator) saying it's from a resident in our estate with . Everything inside me screams hoax ((with a niggle it might be real).

Anyone seen similar?

JudyCoolibar · 23/03/2020 08:03

The only symptom they mention that is not a common one is diarrhoea

Where does it mention diarrhoea?

Why on earth would you get the person to remove their post? That’s irresponsible of you. Of course someone near you will have the virus.

WeAllHaveWings · 23/03/2020 08:10

I will say this one last time then will ignore any posts relating to the symptoms.

I am not doubting the symptoms.
It will not change my behaviour - I have been following government advice since day 1.

I am doubting it being from our very small local estate.

So what if it isn't?
Do you think your estate has no cases?!

CodenameVillanelle · 23/03/2020 08:14

Sorry it doesn't say diarrhoea it says nausea! Either way

If it makes more people stay in, good.

The only caveat is that it's vital that no one, if they've had either these symptoms or the 'classic' ones, recovers and then assumes they're immune and changes their behaviour and stops proper distancing. Until an antibody test becomes available no one who hasn't been officially diagnosed should do that.

covidisolation · 23/03/2020 09:44

You wont have no cases in your housing estate that is a totally unrealistic suggestion if you are in England. It is everywhere. If no one knows they have it in your housing estate it is only because no one has been admitted to hospital yet. When they are admitted and unable to breathe they will be tested. Just stay in unless absolutely essential.

This.

We are 99% sure we have got it/have had it in this house right now, literally all of the classic symptoms, none of the less well known ones. But until we have some kind of test to prove we have had it then we still have to go about as if we haven't had it once we are out of isolation.

It's stupid really, but I guess they just don't have the tests.

Roostersmum2 · 23/03/2020 13:36

How are you all doing? @LambriniSocialist

My household is in the same position

exiledfromcornwall · 23/03/2020 13:40

I had a strange bug of some kind in January, which was a bit cold-like, but did not behave quite as my colds usually do. Enough to take some lemsips, but not that bad. It went on for about 2 weeks. I didn't think for a minute that it might have been CV until all this talk about loss of taste/smell with coronavirus. Now I remember that one odd thing I experienced was that my taste buds seemed off, not a total loss of taste but things definitely didn't taste right. Can't remember now whether there was any loss of smell, but my sense of smell isn't great at the best of times.

A few years ago I had some sort of virus that resuted in everything tasting excessively salty, so there is a precedent for this. Maybe not CV this time but some other virus. Would love to know for sure.

Wouldyoubemyamericanboy · 23/03/2020 13:42

Does it matter if it’s on your estate or not?
If you’re following the guidance, it shouldn’t matter either way
What do you think you’re going to achieve if it is ‘fake news’? It might give people a false sense of complacency (even more so Hmm) if people think ‘oh phew, false alarm, it’s not near us!’

frumpety · 23/03/2020 14:05

Is there some sort of behaviour that you think other people want you to stop but isn't against government guidelines ? Just wondering with the ' I will not stop my behaviour ' statement. Smile
