I am. I wish lockdown would happen soon.

I won't be able to work in the event of a lockdown because I'll have no one to look after DS. To be honest I'm not sure how long I'll be able to work anyway as I have no one to look after him on a long term basis. Not sure how it will work.

Yup. I’m a house keeper. I’m going in as I’m self employed and don’t get paid if not.

DMJ6789 · 23/03/2020 06:59

Yes I understand that. If your business has closed then you don’t go in and if instructed to work from home the same. However if not then you have to wait for your employer or the government to tell you not to come in.

frankie001 · 23/03/2020 07:00

I’m on the overground now. It’s packed. I’m a critical care nurse and feel quite angry. They could of course also be key workers. I am safest at work at the moment as we have adequate ppe. I wish we would go to lockdown.

Troels · 23/03/2020 07:00

I on a day off, I worked two 12 hours over the weekend. I can't work from home, have underlying health conditions and wish everyone would pull their heads out of their arses and stay home if they aren't stuck going to work.

Troels · 23/03/2020 07:06

Sorry I thought this said, key workers, not non key workers. I'm a very tired nurse Blush

pumpkinpie01 · 23/03/2020 07:06

Both my sons - one runs his own fabricating business and will keep working until government tell him not to or his customers all cancel . His gf is a SAHM so it's last resort for him not to work. My other son is on a year off and is saving desperately to do a masters and is sorting out PPI claims for Lloyds , I think it's only a matter of time before his office closes though.

Leobynature · 23/03/2020 07:07

My DP works in a warehouse with around 30 other men. They work very closely together in 2 man jobs. If he doesn’t go in he will not get paid and risk the agency letting him go. Utter shit

pumpkinpie01 · 23/03/2020 07:08

@Troels , thank you for everything you do. Are there many people in your hospital with the virus ?

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 23/03/2020 07:08

Technically Im working from home but laptop failed on friday so I need to tske it in to IT to get a new harddrive.

LittleCandle · 23/03/2020 07:14

I'm going in. I work retail in a hospital and there's a chance, if visitors are banned (its heading that way) that our shop could become very necessary for people to get clean clothes. The hospital can barely cope with the normal washing, without adding in patient clothes. However, we are waiting for government advice as to what is to happen next.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/03/2020 07:23

Dh is, motor trade ☹️

It’s really, really important to sell cars apparently. He says the show room is full of pensioners who ought to be social distancing and that people are still shaking hands.

He tells people off if he sees them shaking hands.

PetrolCan · 23/03/2020 07:27

I'm isolating at home due to symptoms, but have been told to go back in at the end of the week when my isolation is over. 90% of my job can be done at home, I'm working from home today. Government guidelines say that anyone who can work from home, should work from home.

Who do I work for? The government...

iwillnevereatspaghetti · 23/03/2020 07:46

Can't believe hospitals are still allowing visitors. I'm in St. George's and haven't had any visitors for 4 days. After 2 days of 1 hour slots. Despite nasty surgery everyone understood. I haven't seen my kids for over a week. No retail open onsite for days

McFarts · 23/03/2020 07:49

My DH he is a self employed builder, we have 3 children if we go into a lockdown where he cant work, he will not get 80% of wages! we would get 90 odd quid a week! how would we manage to live? The thought of him now on his way to pick up his 18 year old labourer, how likely hasnt followed social distancing this weekend or has his labourers family been as careful as we have?? its just horrendous Sad

BlueGheko · 23/03/2020 07:56

Yes I work in a vets, we won't close unless all the staff succumb to the virus. Thankfully I drive to work but leaving my DS 11 home alone to self educate Sad. We have finally got very strict protocols in place, no clients allowed in the practice and our environment is pretty sterile. Can't socially distance from colleagues though and given we'll all be out shopping for food it's only a matter of time I feel.

MissPoldark · 23/03/2020 07:59

Yes, my DH. Even though conveniently, the boss hasn’t been in the office for days and runs all their team meetings from home, telling them how important it is they need to be in work Angry

BackInTime · 23/03/2020 08:07

DH is still going to work because his boss is a control freak and does not trust his staff to work from home even though it's perfectly feasible. I have suggested that they spilt into teams have minimal staff in the office on a rotating basis with the others WFH as we have done in my workplace. This minimises the risk as they can spread out in the office and they are not all there at the same time. What his boss fails to see is that if they all continue to go in every day if one of them gets it they all go down and that's the end of his business.

Troels · 23/03/2020 09:07

pumpkinpie01

I'm in Dementia care not a hosptial, so far no cases for us, but we have locked the place up, no visitors, or non essential staff allowed in the building.

AdoraBell · 23/03/2020 09:09

Yes. I work in a completely unnecessary retail shop.

happymummy12345 · 23/03/2020 09:57

My husband is a chef and the restaurant he works in is still open for deliveries. The staff don't have many hours though as there is a lot of them. Most are only working one day a week. Seems pointless to me, wish they'd close properly so I could stop worrying as much about him having to go.

PigInASlanket · 23/03/2020 10:23

Interesting to see these responses. I've just been flamed on another thread because my DH hasn't done the decent thing of resigning from his job on the first day (having already lost one due to Covid) so he can look after DD.

OddshoesOddsocks · 24/03/2020 07:15

I wonder how many posters on here still need to go today every after a lockdown was announced?

DP has had to go in this morning to see if they’re being sent home or not. I feel like a text could’ve told him that so he probably won’t get sent home Sad

Waxonwaxoff0 · 24/03/2020 08:36

I've been furloughed for the foreseeable future so I'm not in now. I don't know whether my workplace will be shutting down now after the announcement. Some of my other colleagues were going in today and we have a factory where we make goods.

happymummy12345 · 24/03/2020 09:29

Well my husband found out this morning that work is now closed completely. They were doing deliveries only obviously.
