I am. I wish lockdown would happen soon.

My husband and both my sons, I'm worried sickSad

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 23/03/2020 06:05

I am, NHS hospital admin though so maybe a grey area re key worker.

I thought lockdown doesn’t affect workers? If your job isn’t possible from home then you go in as normal even under a lockdown?

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 23/03/2020 06:11

I'm on my way now. I wish we would shut Sad

Samcarpy92 · 23/03/2020 06:13

Yeah. Doesn’t bother me at all though.

LoveLuna · 23/03/2020 06:14

Both my DSs - one works in retail and the other is a car mechanic.

JoyceByersWasRight · 23/03/2020 06:14

My DH. His employer (luxury goods FFS!) is an absolute dick. My DH could do 80% of his job at home, but employer insisting that he goes in as they have several employees WFH due to underlying health concerns. I am a keyworkher and have to go in. We have an 11 year old DD, and although her school have offered her a place I don't want to send her, as is will be with 3 Other schools and none of her class. Not to mention the lack of public transport, short day (she need picking up at 1.45), and fear of her waiting for a bus which isn't coming, on her own.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/03/2020 06:16

@ThroughThickAndThin01 I think in lockdown countries all non essential businesses are all forced to close. Ours is non essential.

Ah ok. I’m hoping for a lockdown, I think it’s best for the country, but I suspect I’ll still be going in to work.

Metoyoutoo · 23/03/2020 06:19

We supply florists and we are in

foamrolling · 23/03/2020 06:19

I am classed as keyworker but actually I work in a Civil service admin role. It's a difficult one to do at home so I'm still going in. It feels absolutely bizarre to be honest when so much of the world has closed up. I'm hoping they'll stop making us come in soon as I actually can't see what we'll be doing.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/03/2020 06:22

I'm having to send DS to be looked after by family members so I can go in. It just defeats the point of social distancing.

DP is still working, he’s a tree surgeon mostly doing council work. His company has been great and provided them with endless antibac products, separate vehicles, cleaning rotas etc but he’s asthmatic and I’m getting more and more worried. I think they’ll be shutting down soon. At least I hope so!

WhentheDealGoesDown1 · 23/03/2020 06:23

Yes, I work in a pharmaceutical laboratory that tests new drugs, though I guess if we have anything to do with any CV drugs we will suddenly be very important

Catrescue1971 · 23/03/2020 06:29

Dh was - in a posh customer facing shop with 3 other employees - and I was worried about him. Until he mentioned there had been no customers for a week. His boss called yesterday to close it down. Dh is just going in to tie up loose ends. I'm relieved.

Plump82 · 23/03/2020 06:32

I work in a call centre for a bank. I'm on my way in. Was extremely nervous for the train journey in but its got hardly anyone on it. I'm sure that will be a different story on the way home.

DMJ6789 · 23/03/2020 06:40

Until you are instructed otherwise then everyone has to go in don’t they?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/03/2020 06:43

@DMJ6789 yes but many non essential businesses where people can't WFH have closed for now. In my job working from home isn't possible.

fantasmasgoria1 · 23/03/2020 06:43

My fiance. If he and his colleagues around the country do not carry out their job then supermarkets and other places would have to close as their insurance will not be valid. He isn't particularly worried about it all.

foamrolling · 23/03/2020 06:45

Well that's kind of the point dmj - lots of people have been instructed to stay at home, either because they can wfh or because businesses have had to shut their doors.

Newjobnewstart · 23/03/2020 06:49

I am. Admin in construction type industry.
I walk so no public transport to worry about. Only issue is i need to leave earlier as have to drop kids at my sil.

Yep I'm going in. Doesn't bother me.

WhentheDealGoesDown1 · 23/03/2020 06:53

In a normal lockdown, people can go to work, even in non essential jobs, which I would imagine would be the UK's most likely scenario. Italy has just done a lockdown when all non essential businesses have to close which is extremely severe measures.

DollyPomPoms · 23/03/2020 06:53

I have a legal office based job. I have to go in to keep our company afloat as we are at serious risk ok collapse. I am asthmatic but also need the money to pay rent.

rabbitwoman · 23/03/2020 06:54

I am into work today as I am a teacher - seems bloody crazy, but not as seriously mental as my husband's work. He works in a shop selling high end computers. His employers - well, I won't out them on here.... But they have closed their head office and customer service centre for the health of the staff, but not the shops.

They also have signs up saying they have supplied the staff with sanitiser, gloves etc. They haven't. They were told to go and buy their own..... And the shops are all out.

He is on minimum wage.

Anyway...... Back to skool.....
