Families minus a garden/balcony should have priority outside access.

Just my suggestion.

OP posts:
SoftBlocks · 22/03/2020 20:15

Absolutely. So many families have no outdoor space.

GreenTulips · 22/03/2020 20:16

How would you imagine that would actually work?

Ohtherewearethen · 22/03/2020 20:17

In theory this is a good idea but how on earth could it be policed? The past few weeks have more than proven we can't trust each other to behave decently and think of others.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 22/03/2020 20:17

Nice idea, but who is supposed to be organising/controlling all this stuff?

PersonaNonGarter · 22/03/2020 20:18

Who is policing this - the police?

No. Please. They have enough to do.

Kateplaysrugbyinmydreams · 22/03/2020 20:18

This isn't possible.

Hippywannabe · 22/03/2020 20:20

The police will have more important things to do. People need to let go of the 'entitled to' attitude.

sunshinemachine · 22/03/2020 20:22

i dont have outside space but im not sure how they would police that

WeWantSweet · 22/03/2020 20:23

Thanks for responses, I suppose it depends on the right people doing the right thing. Fingers crossed.

Sn0tnose · 22/03/2020 20:26

I think that we all have to accept that the days of people’s entitlements and who should have what first is over, albeit temporarily (hopefully).

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 22/03/2020 20:31

Won’t be an issue in a couple of weeks. No-one will be allowed out.

Cohle · 22/03/2020 20:32

I think we need to accept that in the weeks to come outdoor access isn't a "priority" for anyone.

If people could be trusted to act decently we wouldn't need a lockdown at all.

FuckingTuiles · 22/03/2020 20:34

There is absolutely no way of policing this.

LargeGinOnTap · 22/03/2020 20:35

You get a card posted through the post. No card no park?

Land registry and post office are involved. Spot checks.

Policed by the people who usually run the parks cafes, pedaloes and crazy golf ammentites

Maybe another idea is a wrist band idea like the leisure centre so green orange blue pink and tannoys say when you're time is up and you have to start heading home

Disclaimer: Sorry only just seen the thread and not really thought about it. And these are only half thought ideas

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 22/03/2020 20:41

Ah, a neighbour said this to me this week actually - I’m the only flat in my block with children and no garden/balcony and they were saying my kids should have first dibs on the communal garden in the current crisis. We certainly are making use of the garden, but obviously not monopolising it!

Can’t really see the logistics at a large scale though - I know it’s doable, but whether it’s worth it for the faff involved...

ButtWormHole · 22/03/2020 20:42

You’re relying on people doing the right thing? Have you seen the state of the shops?

Ylvamoon · 22/03/2020 20:47

What about the elderly and dog owners... they need prioritie too. They benefit from fresh air and exercise.

OP it's a great idea but won't work. People are ignoring current guidelines how do you decide who has access to which space?

Escapetab · 22/03/2020 20:49

No way to administrate or enforce that.

Cohle · 22/03/2020 20:54

Land registry and post office are involved. Spot checks.

And how is that compatible with those workers working from home? Should childcare be provided to allow staff to administer this scheme?

What a ridiculous use of resources that would be.

Watchagotcha · 22/03/2020 20:57

The parks and all other public spaces need to be closed too, so frankly other than a short walk in the street, there is no outdoor time for anyone other than dog owners.

Yours, from France.

speakout · 22/03/2020 20:59

How can you police peope like this?
I live surrounded by woodland.
I often go walking in my local forest- In the past few years I have been doing this I have never met another person.
Should I turn myself into the police?

Jobseeker19 · 22/03/2020 21:02

If only, if only.

SilverySurfer · 22/03/2020 21:05

speakout I think your crime is too serious for the police, take yourself off to the nearest prison for a nice spot of isolation Grin

YABU OP - different people need the same facility for different things - I know it's a shocking concept to some but children don't trump all.

Holdmenow · 22/03/2020 21:07

Yabu OP how would that be policed without costing more money the country doesn’t have!! Confused

1Morewineplease · 22/03/2020 21:13

Please don’t take them to the park like so very many parents have done round my way... they’ll just be spreading bugs and viruses around all the more. I saw so many children crammed into our local playground that utterly defeated the government’s plea for self isolation.
We are facing a severe pandemic. Don’t expose your family or give them the opportunity to pick up the virus and spread it to others.
