Director of my own company - do I qualify for the 80 per cent salary?

I’m a director of my own limited company and ordinarily earn about 28k per annum. However, since the virus hit business has dried up and I’m facing serious financial difficulties.

From what I gather, I’m also classed as an employee of my company and am paid my monthly salary through the payroll. There are no other directors or employees - it’s just me.

I can’t get hold of my accountant tonight to check whether I’m eligible for the 80% government grant and am feeling anxious as to whether I can claim this. It could be the difference between my business surviving or going under. Does anyone know?

This might be useful for some

The guidance says "Working for a different employer
If contractually allowed, your employees are permitted to work for another employer whilst you have placed them on furlough. For any employer that takes on a new employee, the new employer should ensure they complete the starter checklist form correctly. If the employee is furloughed from another employment, they should complete Statement C."

Martin Lewis has said this should be possible...

On the Tories current form of mistreating small companies i'm guessing they'll wait for many 'only employee/directors' to do this, then make a rule that they can't and demand any grant/furlough back and maybe slap on a fine.

i wouldn't put anything past them.

But Martin Lewis is NOT HMRC
and until I see it on a .gov.uk website
it would be grossly irresponsible of me as a CCAB qualified accountant to suggest following a twitter video

At the risk of sounding paranoid... The BBC has done an article on our plight. Looking through the comments they're all from people telling us we deserve it etc with huge vote numbers for all of them.

This is very much Dominic Cummings MO! Wonder if he knew this article was coming and had a number of his social-terrorists - the ones who won him Brexit - bomb the replies section with pro-government propaganda.

Normally there's more of a mix of opinion, no matter what the story, so this rings a few alarm bells for me:
