Those who are still going out and about and not socially distancing.

Schools have closed, round here teenagers have been out every night celebrating impending closures. Some people seem to think this is an excuse to party, to go and visit friends.

Do people not understand what’s going on?

Have you not seen what’s happening in Italy right now?
627 new deaths today.
This will be happening here very soon.

FFS stay in unless you absolutely have to go out, keep your children away from other people, have some social responsibility!

All those still going out right now, you’re no better than drink drivers. You will be partly responsible for the NHS being overloaded and for people’s deaths.

Those who are still going out and about and not socially distancing.

There's very little point in telling them
They don't care

Until the government formally put them on house arrest they'll continue on because of herd immunity and it only effects the elderly

The gym thread the other day on here was full of the selfish cunts

FatAlbert · 20/03/2020 19:53

It’s so selfish.

In so many ways this is bring out the best in people - so many local women rallying round to support the elderly and those who are quarantined, it’s amazing.
At the same time it’s showing the scum of the earth who don’t give a shit about anyone.

I'm currently in a huge arguement with DH - he's decided it's "crap" and that the financial support announced the last few days(including tonight) is BS - inlaws are also the same

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 20/03/2020 19:59

I work in a school. I cannot believe how many absentee pupils I have just seen in the fucking supermarket! I know we closed this afternoon but really?

FatAlbert · 20/03/2020 20:06

@LadyMonicaBaddingham dd (in self isolation) keeps showing me pictures of huge groups of teenagers from the local grammar school out getting drunk together.

My Niece is at loggerheads with her vulnerable DM. Dsis warned her to stay in or move out, she has moved in with a friend at the moment, they're having the time of her life off college with no consideration for anyone.

rempy · 20/03/2020 20:10

Well, the shitshow has arrived at my hospital, and all this lot will then do too little, too late and kick up a fuss .... Proper pissed off with them all. The silver linings are very dim .. Maybe next year those that are alive will get their flu vaccine?? Maybe a few people will become friends with their elderly neighbours??

Dubdubdubtub · 20/03/2020 20:11

The government needs to bring in a lock down now. Some people are not following advice at all. These people will have blood on their hands.

MistyIsland · 20/03/2020 20:15

I noticed today people have no concept of social distancing.

One lady loudly in a shop - yes I’m self isolating as Dh has a heart condition yes very self isolating stood in bloody tesco less than 2 metres from the person behind you

No one seems to be able to keep 2m away from me.

I have just phoned and had a rant at my 2 teenage sons 17&19.
17year old out with mates.
19 year old has a girlfriend who stays here pretty much all the time and she has gone out for drinks with friends. The 19 year old is delivering take away.
I’m so angry with them.

ItchySeveredFoot · 20/03/2020 20:19

The parents on our class WhatsApp are organising a party ffs. We won't be going. Isolated walks only for now.

Pieceofpurplesky · 20/03/2020 20:24

Thing is these teens have been with each other all day ay school - I think many of them see today as the last chance. They have been told by Boris and his team that they are not going to get it (which isn't true).

I am a teacher and most of my kids see today as D Day and after this are on lockdown. It's the adults that annoy me most visiting pubs and restaurants

QuestionMarkNow · 20/03/2020 20:30

@Pieceofpurplesky that’s exactly what my teen told me.
We are in the same class all day long, sitting next to each other. One last party before lock down isn’t going to make a big difference.

And yes I have more issue with people going out, pubs, restaurants, organising meet ups with other friends/parents/play dates etc....

PrincessPain · 20/03/2020 20:34

I'm in self isolation along with my 11mo and 2you.
DH is a cleaner in a super market for minimum wage, he works 6 days a week. The more people don't isolate, the more likely he is to catch it at work and bring it back home to us.
I don't think people are realising the bigger picture! So selfish.
People on my Facebook were asking what pubs were still open yesterday as they wanted to go out for a pub meal tomorrow. Ridiculous.

Rosebel · 20/03/2020 20:37

Well people won't be meeting at pubs or restaurants anymore, which is a blessing. I really hope the kids understand soon. My children have been invited out a few times by friends but they have enough common sense to say no.

millymoo1202 · 20/03/2020 20:49

I work in a cafe, today we had a pregnant lady in with her other children and numerous elderly customers and numerous Mums with their children who I’m sure were shouting for the schools to be shut!! Clearly it will dodge them!!!

Breckenridged · 20/03/2020 20:53

Oh OP this makes me furious. And why the pubs etc weren’t ordered to be shut with immediate effect so that people aren’t out for a last hurrah in their masses tonight. I wonder how many hundreds will contract the virus this evening...

Qwerty543 · 20/03/2020 20:56

I had to pick DC up early from school today (injury not ill) and I was stuck in traffic in the middle of a Friday! Wtf were all these people doing out? I've been to the shops this week and school run, that's it and I'm not ill at all.

People are just inherently selfish.

NailsNeedDoing · 20/03/2020 20:59

They aren’t using it as an excuse, they're seeing it as a last chance to be together before the country goes quiet for an indefinite amount of time. I can’t blame them really, especially as many of them will still be working anyway.

goldpartyhat · 20/03/2020 21:00

I e got some paper masks and rubber gloves. If I wore them in Tesco do you think people would keep their distance?

pinkpolo · 20/03/2020 21:09

I've just driven home and the local chippy was full of people crammed into a small space waiting for food. I saw gangs of people heading into the local pubs too.

Now on social media, local hairdressers are advertising how they are staying open because the government hasn't told them to close 😮 so "get your appointments in quick before lockdown"😡 wtf

When are people going to realise the severity of this?!

FatAlbert · 20/03/2020 21:34

“ When are people going to realise the severity of this?!”

When it’s too late.

I have a mask that I bought last year for some reason. When I have to go out I fully intend to use it.

We have been told that masks are ineffective, which is not true.

OP posts:
EmeraldShamrock · 20/03/2020 21:36

They need to limit the amount of people entering a supermarket at any time, 100 max one in one out, gloves supplied on arrival. It is the worker who have no choice I pity. As long as people are spending stores will stay open. I'm doing my best to social distance at the mercy of my mind with the DC, restrict visits, go on evening walks. DP is working all day in retail he is bound to bring it home, one good thing is his store electronics brought in a 5 customer max policy this week.

Darbs76 · 20/03/2020 21:36

Now schools are finished no excuse for teens to say they are together every day anyway. Keep your kids in, this isn’t school holidays. All I keep hearing is I can’t make them stay in. Well I intend to make mine stay in, only I don’t have to because at 15 & 11 they understand we are in the middle of a global pandemic

StinkyWizzleteets · 20/03/2020 21:40

So many people where I live think we’re all just being ridiculous fuddy duddies by saying kids shouldn’t be out and they think that they can just isolate tomorrow. But how many people will have caught it from those socialising today that may have avoided it had they been isolated Yesterday? I really REALLY. Don’t understand this pride in British disregarding expertises and authority to do what they want. Maybe a huge cull is something we need. Sadly it won’t be the boneheads out socialising that will die it will be the elderly and the vulnerable like me who have religiously stayed in for weeks now. Makes no difference my partner will bring it home with him from the hospital he works in and then I get to die... but at least the teens will have had one last blowout before the end of school and their parents get a night off from their moaning about being stuck in. Yeah?
