Why can people not follow the rules?

www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/italy-coronavirus-death-toll-lockdown-uk-self-isolation-social-distancing-a9414581.html

Article about why Italys death toll continues to rise rapidly. Data finds that 40% of people are still leaving their homes.

I just don't understand why people can't follow the rules. Yea sure no one wants to isolate but surely for everyone you would do it?

I have a feeling the UK will go down the same path. Guidelines have been slack. They recommended pubs and clubs etc close. Alot stayed open and people continued going against advice. I really do not get why people don't care and are going against advice and guidance which is in our best interests?

@loly365 yea think that's also true. I think the government were hoping people would comply giving what had happened in Italy and China. When on my one daily walk I saw some many cars parked outside people's houses, which isn't usually the norm on my road. Obviously visiting parents. I haven't seen mine for a week now and I wish I could see them. But I'm thinking of my health and my DS as well as theirs.

I can't believe the way people are behaving in queues. In Ireland people are maintaining the distances, only going out when necessary. In London, it's more hmm, think I'll wander into M&S and throng around like a cunt

The problem is too many key workers
Most do not all need to be in

I do not need to be in work and last week I was told I’d be working from home due to child care issues

Since then I’ve been on the list of key workers so my boss has thought we may aswel stay open since I can have childcare! 😡 my job involves large groups coming together and dispite is complaining we have got nowhere so it’ll continue

All these people who are working then think less of nipping out with friends etc as they’re mixing with people all day

It should be full lockdown with skeleton staff everywhere were they can

But government should issue more guidance as employers will stay open if they can and they shouldn’t get to put workers at risk

I think that most people don’t understand the implied exponential growth in the figures; that today’s numbers only tell us about who got infected a week ago. The number infected now is much, much bigger but we’ll only see that in a week’s time.

Wonder why they can't give us real time information? Would be alot more helpful.
I saw today that our death rates are working Excatly the same as Italys so I really hope for everyone's sake they lock us down soon. Because still people aren't listening.
And I bet so many people are visiting their mums today

I think it doesn't help that Boris keeps saying "for the majority of people this will be a mild illness." Which is true, but not actually the issue. The issue is all the people for whom it won't be a mild illness. I think they need to switch the focus from "most of you will be fine" to "people you love may die if you do not do this."

Nope.

Bondi Beach has to be closed because of the number of people.

I assumed one reason for this was to stop people calling 999 or rushing to A&E once they had a symptom as opposed to actually being in a critical condition.

@mochajoes that probably is the reason but I think it's swung too far the other way.
