Absolutely no going out or socialising?

My understanding is basically no going out except to work, for food shopping or outdoor exercise away from others. Meaning I can't see my parents, can't go to a cafe and can't even visit same age friends (early 40s).

Other people think I'm being extreme but isn't this whats being asked of us for the next few weeks at least?

Exactly what we are all doing.

Bagelsandbrie · 19/03/2020 19:12

Yes that’s exactly it. Everyone needs to stay in and no socialising. None. Just supermarket if you can’t get an online delivery. And even then they should be making space in the queues.

TheMostHappy · 19/03/2020 19:12

Yep. We are completely self isolating at the moment as I have a cough, but this is exactly what we will be doing when out of quarantine 😷

YakkityYakYakYak · 19/03/2020 19:17

Yes, you’ve got it exactly right. Keep doing what you’re doing.

Eeples · 19/03/2020 19:18

Just started a thread about this. People aren’t getting it. They’re arranging to have multiple families they’re keeping contact with. What’s the ducking point?

BeansOnToast4T · 19/03/2020 19:19

That's what we are doing too. We all have to do our part.

Eeples · 19/03/2020 19:19

Or fucking point, even.

GreyGardens88 · 19/03/2020 19:19

Yes exactly that, people still don't get it. It's devastating for me to be apart from my parents who are in self isolation, but just need to bloody well get through it

SleepingStandingUp · 19/03/2020 19:19

If none of you are "vulnerable" Or unwell then I'd say you make a decision as grown adults. You aren't throwing a party for 900, you're seeing your parents in their home / friends at yours etc. However if we go into lockdown you won't be doing it

Connie222 · 19/03/2020 19:21

That’s what we are doing. Dh working from home, children staying inside or in the garden. Don’t jump on me but we are lucky enough to have delivery slots for the next four weeks. So no one is leaving the house and no one is coming in unless something happens with the shop and Dh will brave it.

I’m pregnant and have 20 week scan in 4 weeks, I’ll be going alone in the car and don’t plan to go out other than that.

Taswama · 19/03/2020 19:22

No seeing anyone who is classed as vulnerable (especially over 70s). No socialising indoors. Going for a walk or a cycle ride as long as you keep your distance is ok.

CoronaIsComing · 19/03/2020 19:22

YES that’s exactly what it means 🙈🙈🙈

Eeples · 19/03/2020 19:22

But, sleeping, if everyone carries on just seeing people in their own homes, it’s increasing social contact from the suggested minimal! Everyone has to do their bit for his to work properly and more quickly.

thisislovelyme · 19/03/2020 19:24

Yes that's exactly what we're doing too. No social contact and wfh whenever possible. It's hard but absolutely necessary for us all to do it.

Helloandwelcomehere · 19/03/2020 19:24

Exactly the same here. I think the govt need to urgently clarify this before next week. I know of groups of mums planning on meeting up at a national trust place next week which they say is ok because it's outside. I don't think it is ok if you'll all be walking together and the kids playing together. Hmm

Jjcrackers · 19/03/2020 19:26

I don't understand how gyms and restaurants can keep posting on social media that they are still open.

BriefDisaster · 19/03/2020 19:26

Yes that is what we are doing although DD is complaining of gum pain so we have to go to the dentist tomorrow which I am dreading as it has the smallest waiting room ever.

Eeples · 19/03/2020 19:26

Bloody idiots Hello. Mums from my child’s class are meeting at the park. 🤬

Katjolo · 19/03/2020 19:27

The show must go on for key workers 😕

Bagelsandbrie · 19/03/2020 19:27

It’s just ridiculous. People on my local community page are advertising their cafes and small business saying they’re still open and it’s okay because they’ve cleaned everything....!Shock I truly feel for businesses in this time but we aren’t going to cope as a country if this carries on.

It’s not about fucking cleaning everything it’s about being near to other people more than anything!

SleepingStandingUp · 19/03/2020 19:28

If u can queue in a supermarket with 50 other people is sitting in a house with 2 people so much worse??

I dunno, we're isolating with 3 kids, no delivery slots till April so I'll have to go to the shops. 1 son with complex medication and 3 month old twins. I feel more vulnerable than op having coffee with her mom

thepeopleversuswork · 19/03/2020 19:28

Seriously? Who thinks you're being extreme? Why are people ignoring what they've been told by the government for the past three days straight?

Where do all these people go for their sources of information? You'd have to have been in solitary confinement for a fortnight for this to have passed you by. These people are bloody-minded, selfish arseholes and you should tell your friends if they carry on like this they are transmitting the virus more widely and risking lifes.

FFS.

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 19/03/2020 19:28

Same here. Essentials only.

PumpkinP · 19/03/2020 19:30

Everyone I know is acting as normal. My sister is still meeting with friends/ off the her boyfriends house tonight

Eeples · 19/03/2020 19:30

Of course Katjo, that’s why EVERYONE else has to do their bit or the show will have to go on much longer for Key Workers and all those who are doing the right thing. All non-key workers could do the right thing as much as is possible instead of some doing it for longer so a few idiots can have a fun time at the expense of others.
