AIBU to remind people to be mindful of their contraception...

It strikes me that some people might struggle getting repeat prescriptions for the pill, or not able to pick it up or get it delivered, fresh depo shots might not be available on time etc.

And so, given we may end up locked down, and there may be shortages of supplies (pill, condom etc) to be mindful of this so that we don't end up with a lot of unplanned Coronavirus isolation babies in 9 months.

Depending on how things go, access to the MAP, and terminations may be patchy also, so just to remind people to be extra vigilant and to buy in some emergency condoms ;-)

You can purchase the contraceptive pill on line from Superdrug if anybody struggles to get into the doctors

PumpkinP · 19/03/2020 18:51

Well there you go, you can get it online. Panic over 🙄 Hmm

Bluewavescrashing · 19/03/2020 18:53

I was at the GP last week having my contraceptive implant replaced. A locum GP was drafted in to do it all day. She said they are very keen to keep up family planning services in case there is an unwanted baby boom in 9 months.

Whatatimetoseealine · 19/03/2020 19:03

I've just found I'm pregnant and worried that's what people will think! 😂 We wouldn't be trying anymore now that the situation is what it is but it's too late now

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 19/03/2020 19:05

Six days into isolation, and the DCs are way too constantly present and awake! And by bedtime, we're both exhausted from the 100% "on" parenting.

Anyone managing sex in this deserves a round of applause!

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 19/03/2020 19:06

(the family planning aspect is irrelevant though)

Puddleduck42 · 19/03/2020 19:08

I've got ten weeks left of desogestral. My sister has three weeks left. She rang the drs snd they said she still had over half a pack left so wouldn't put her one through. I am abit worried as I think these pills are working well for me so far

Thedogscollar · 19/03/2020 19:20

youdreamedmydreamformeI refer you to your first post you know the "Wow just wow" one Hmm tbh you sound a bit narked that the OP has asked this very valid point. Anyway I can see from all the posts that consensus of opinion is against you and yeah this thread has made a good point.

Strictly1972 · 19/03/2020 19:30

To be fair, the thought of sharing germs with anyone at the moment is enough contraception for me.

Percypopper · 19/03/2020 19:30

I haven’t had sex in 3 years like I said the perks of being single. Can’t believe people are thinking about sex at this time

Bitterness in the air...shame

BilboBercow · 19/03/2020 20:55

That's why post war babies are the baby boomers

BubblyBarbara · 19/03/2020 21:08

The ultimate contraceptive is to not have sex. So if you run out and can’t get anything, there is your option

Not just me getting the targeted advertising on the thread then, Anne? Grin

AnneLovesGilbert · 20/03/2020 00:13

I have an ad blocker! Were these coming up? We use condoms, not these but I’m sure these are great, and stocked up two weeks ago. Can’t be too safe. But sex isn’t a bad idea when the chips are down.

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 20/03/2020 09:26

I have an ad blocker too, but it seems to be broke for mn - yep these exact ones, via amazon were coming up Grin
