Aside from food what are you ordering to keep you busy/entertained during social distancing?

...or possible lockdown?
Our garden furniture is coming plus a mower so if we have a nice day we can sort the grass

Got paint coming as well as stencils so we can paint DS’s room

Got some different paint coming for a DIY furniture project

Might order some seeds and compost

Got some fabric coming so I can make blinds

What about you?

Dennis I got it from a local supplier on Facebook, check your local Fb pages to see if anyone does it. I got 7 bags for £20 with delivery.

Dd is already moaning about the lack of food, told her she will have to wait a few month whilst a grow some (we have plenty of food, just not the chocolate and crisps she wants).

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 19/03/2020 14:11

We’ve got Cluedo, Trivial Pursuit (traditional, Big Bang and Harry Potter versions), playing cards another general knowledge game. Around 150 books, Audible app.
I’m waiting delivery of some crochet hooks so I can teach DD to make squares for our own plague blanket, I’ve got a bagful of wool which should keep us going.
We’re day 3 of self isolation as I’m symptomatic, at the moment I feel like reheated shit, so we’re binge watching SVU.
DD (23)has MH issues, including agoraphobia, she says she’s been in training for this for 7 years. (I know that sounds distasteful, but sometimes she needs dark humour to help her deal with things).
Older DD and her boyfriend are also self isolating as she is immuno compromised.

A swingball set
Basketball
Walkie talkies

Mum sent them. Otherwise they will be making do with what we have.

GameSetMatch · 19/03/2020 14:18

A slide and other garden activities

SilverySurfer · 19/03/2020 15:05

For Harry Potter fans I've just finished a fiendishly difficult jigsaw which is photographs of all the main characters in ornate frames - the photographs were fairly easy but the frames! aaargh.

Genuine dd1 (16) is the same, she has Aspergers and lives in her room most of the time, she says she’s an expert on social isolation 🤣.
I’m looking at getting some board games to try to tempt her out of her room. Any recommendations for a 16 and a 14 year old? Dd2 is autistic with low attention span.

Lovemusic33 · 19/03/2020 15:15

Swingballs a great idea

bluechameleon · 19/03/2020 15:19

I bought lots of activity books. The paper planes book has been a particular success. On the way I have a tuff tray and some new books for the children. I might buy some books for me too and some sewing supplies.

afrikat · 19/03/2020 15:20

Disney+
Bulbs and seeds for planting
Garden toys
Art supplies
Wine. All the wine.

ILLBESUZIE · 19/03/2020 15:32

ILLBESUZIE · 19/03/2020 15:34

And lots of books!

Devlesko · 19/03/2020 15:36

Nothing as we'll just be able to afford food and essential bills.
Would be lovely to buy stuff, but I'll opt to feed the family.

Belindabelle · 19/03/2020 15:36

Home multi gym
Rowing machine
MDF and paint to panel the bedroom

Lovemusic33 · 19/03/2020 15:41

Devlesko hopefully there’s going to be more help for people who are struggling, if your kids get free school meals there maybe help (talking about giving out vouchers). How old are your dc? Maybe someone can send you some bits that they no longer need?

I have just bought a swingball, wanted one for camping anyway and almost bought one last year, hopefully it will encourage dd out into the garden.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 19/03/2020 15:41

If you are a library member check out the BorrowBox app Grin Free books, woo hoo!

Nousernameforme · 19/03/2020 15:56

White board and markers to help with school also bookcase ottoman new voile thing lampshade and rug.for front room. It's much nicer spending time in there now

Devlesko · 19/03/2020 16:03

Apologies OP, I'm narcky and worried sick, but shouldn't bring your more cheerful thread down Thanks

I did buy some oracle and Tarot cards some time ago, I'll be brushing up with these and skype lessons of a family member to read tea leaves and palms.

I'm liking the sound of these crafts.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 19/03/2020 16:10

Books for me and the kids, a couple of board games and some toys. A garden with fruit and veg for the doll's house, some more playmobil (beach stuff so the playmobil people have can have a summer holiday even if we can't) and some puzzles.

Oh and a tablet so that we can play games/look at ebooks/keep in touch easier with elderly relatives.

Also wine.

bettybyebye · 19/03/2020 16:14

Loads of paper and craft supplies for the kids
Paint and wallpaper
Beer, wine, gin
And a hot tub 😀

BriefDisaster · 19/03/2020 16:16

A trampoline, sandpit and Nintendo Switch (we were restricted by Argos to just one game for it).

Also bought some of the Collins 5-7 age books for comprehension, spelling and maths for DS (6) and some alphabet puzzles ans wipe clean learn handwriting books for DD(3).

Its going to be a loooong spring/summer.

Belindabelle · 19/03/2020 16:17

DH wants a hot tub in lieu of our holiday.

Lovemusic33 · 19/03/2020 18:05

Devlesko that’s reminded me that I bought some Tarot cards before Christmas and I haven’t attempted to use them yet.

Dd is into knitting at the moment so we are making blankets, hopefully for future camping trips and sitting around camp fires.

DennisReynoldsDuster · 19/03/2020 18:26

@Devlesko I’m sorry if this thread seemed toned deaf in the circumstances. I’m doing my bit to help others by donating food etc so I don’t want you to think I’m unaware of others struggling and being cavalier about it. I’m very aware I’m in a fortunate position and actually most of my anxiety is not actually for myself but the wider picture :(
Do you have a local community group on Facebook? Lots have sprung up offering to drop off activities like puzzles and games that people no longer use in their household. Something like that might be a good way to keep the boredom at bay!

Well our garden sofa has arrived so we can keep ourselves busy assembling that. Trying to be excited about it but just feel very sad today
