Would you let your child to to a soft play party at the moment?

Just that really. Soft play party end of this week. Would you let your child go? On the one hand he's round all the kids all day at school, the soft play is doing extra cleaning etc. On the other hand there will be non school children there, so it's additional mixing, plus adults... Feel bad for the birthday child though.

Why are all these parents going ahead with parties. Angry DS was due his 5th first big party on Friday, it's sad but he'll have a cake gifts with the 3 of us. It could be worse he could be on the border of Greece or in a refugee camp. Smile

A friend want to have a drinks party Saturday, I feel ok saying no to that, but I feel more torn on this one tbh.

The child's parent should cancel the party to stop people feeling guilty & awkward!

I get they don't want their child to miss out but be responsible! Its better that than forcing other people to either go to a party & worry, or end up cancelling & feeling bad instead.

I'm not adverse to leaving the house at the moment, having read the reports on staged exposure and why some people need to carry on, but I think soft play is pushing it.

OwlinaTree · 17/03/2020 22:20

I was kind of hoping it would be cancelled so I didn't have to make the decision!

Hell no!!
They are breeding grounds for normal germs let alone Covid19!!

We should be minimising social interaction. Parties should be postponed

ellanwood · 17/03/2020 22:22

Definitely not. They are germ pits. Very high risk of contagion.

boomboom1234 · 17/03/2020 22:22

No. My daughter is invited to one in a few weeks but I imagine it will be cancelled.

coronavirusissueatschool · 17/03/2020 22:23

No. No. And No.

Vile germ breeding grounds without coronavirus.

BreadAndOlives · 17/03/2020 22:23

No.
We were at a soft play party on Sunday for my daughter's very best friend and we went because she had only invited 2 other school friends.
The place was packed out and I hate those places at the best of time. Anxiety through the roof and washing hands every 30 minutes (the soft play had no sanitizer or additional measures)
We've been invited to a full class party this Saturday and we have declined. Absolutely can't think of anything worse to breed germs. Selfish of the parents to go ahead but of course feel sad for the child.

EmeraldShamrock · 17/03/2020 22:24

I was kind of hoping it would be cancelled so I didn't have to make the decision! I think it is awful expecting people to attend, don't feel bad cancel most of the invitees will.

doubleshotespresso · 17/03/2020 22:27

I am astounded you really need to ask. Not in a month of Sundays hell no.

goldenorbspider · 17/03/2020 22:27

Went to one on Saturday. It's usually booked up weeks in advance. It was very quiet and lots of slots not taken.

TheFormidableMrsC · 17/03/2020 22:28

No! As if this is even a question!

Mountainash · 17/03/2020 22:28

Our local soft play has, regrettably, temporarily closed till further notice. The play parks around out town have been closed off. The Grandchildren will be devastated.

PlugholePencil · 17/03/2020 22:29

Nope.
If you had asked me yesterday morning I wood have said yes, but given the update last night my answer is now no.
It’s a non-essential gathering in close proximity.
No.

PlugholePencil · 17/03/2020 22:29

*would

KillingMeSlowly · 17/03/2020 22:32

Fuckin he'll. no. You can't go.

HopefulFor2020 · 17/03/2020 22:33

People aren't cancelling the parties because the businesses aren't giving refunds yet. I work in one of these places and the staff are all hoping we get closed down even though we'd lose our incomes. That's the only way our management will even consider refunds. It's heartbreaking having to tell parents that it's business as normal when it really shouldn't be

thatsmyumbrellaellla · 17/03/2020 22:33

I agree that no I wouldn't go however understand why some people are questioning if they should. Whilst the schools are still open it doesn't seem any more risky to send a child to a party with all their school friends. This is why the schools have to close until that happens people just won't socially isolate properly

AvocadoOwl · 17/03/2020 22:35

Fuck no

Redinthefacegirl · 17/03/2020 22:36

No!
I despair at those saying yes. We need to interrupt the transmission of this virus by reducing non essential mixing.

RantyAnty · 17/03/2020 22:36

No, of course not.

I'd mention it to the parent holding the party

Why is your DC still at school? Take them out.

GoldenPlatitudes · 17/03/2020 22:45

If kids are still at school then soft play still ok right?

It's not, but surely people cant agree with schools staying open in one breath and asking for soft play to be closed in the next.

Crazy

OwlinaTree · 17/03/2020 22:46

Why is my child at school? Because they have no symptoms of Corona virus and the schools are open.
