Would you let your child to to a soft play party at the moment?

Just that really. Soft play party end of this week. Would you let your child go? On the one hand he's round all the kids all day at school, the soft play is doing extra cleaning etc. On the other hand there will be non school children there, so it's additional mixing, plus adults... Feel bad for the birthday child though.

I'm absolute stunned that this is even a question Confused

PickAChew · 17/03/2020 21:59

Ugh, no.

Newuname199987 · 17/03/2020 22:00

Social distancing isn’t going to work in this country going by the number of people asking if they can do x, y and z which are all non essential. That will bring in enforced measures sooner than planned, which may be a good thing and stop everyone wanting to go to get togethers, parties etc. Why can’t people understand that ‘essential’ means things like collecting medication from doctors and not socialising or kids parties?

Coughisoff · 17/03/2020 22:01

Yes I would for sure.

Why wouldn’t you? No formal lock down. Kids still mingling in school. More chance of picking up a sickness bug or chicken pox.

evilharpy · 17/03/2020 22:02

No. My daughter should be going to one on Sunday but I’m not letting her go. Sad for the birthday child though.

SuburbanFraggle · 17/03/2020 22:02

No

How is the Aibu vote on this?
YABU = overreacting
Yanbu = reasonable not to go
?

Tatty101 · 17/03/2020 22:03

Social distancing has been recommended for everyone. Do you consider this essential?

Splitsunrise · 17/03/2020 22:04

Feeling bad for the birthday girl is not worth spreading this virus (probably indirectly) to a vulnerable person who could die. Bluntly, that's the choice. To me, there's no question.

Whatsmyname26 · 17/03/2020 22:05

No chance! Friends who played in our local one last week now have chicken pox - it’s a breeding ground for germs at the best of times. No way I would go near during a pandemic

user1493494961 · 17/03/2020 22:05

I despair.

Instatwat · 17/03/2020 22:06

Of course not. Why are people even still asking these questions 🤦🏻‍♀️

BalanchineBallet · 17/03/2020 22:07

If the kids were all the same ones as they see at school, I don’t get any closer to the parents at soft play than I do at school
Pick up!

Doyoumind · 17/03/2020 22:08

No. It's sad for the birthday girl but they need to cancel that party anyway.

EmeraldShamrock · 17/03/2020 22:08

No way. I'm flummoxed at the UK's reaction. Is it the people solely trust their PM? Is it arrogance from the young and healthy.
A unintentional supermarket sneeze within a metre of a care worker can wipe out a care home.

RainydaysandMondaysalways · 17/03/2020 22:10

No

SylvanianFrenemies · 17/03/2020 22:10

No. Don't be silly. Our local soft play places have all closed. Social distancing doesn't mean "social distancing except when you fancy doing something else". The party should be cancelled.

Whoopsmahoot · 17/03/2020 22:11

Absolutely not. No question. It’s all about social distancing to prevent the spread.

tashakg89 · 17/03/2020 22:12

No.
I've just had to cancel my little boys which is in two weeks time, gutted for him but felt it was the right thing to do

Redwinestillfine · 17/03/2020 22:12

I wouldn't be going to a party, nevermind a soft play one

JustInCaseCakeHappens · 17/03/2020 22:13

No

THIS is another reason why the government is beyond stupid not to close the schools. Until they are, people think it's ok to carry on as usual.
Why they are still opened is just unbelievable.

RiftGibbon · 17/03/2020 22:14

Our local one is open. DC has an invite to a party next weekend but I'm not keen on the idea now.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 17/03/2020 22:16

No.

However I get why people are asking these questions. It makes no logical sense to say no to soft play yet still send your child to school everyday with 1000 other kids. Whilst schools are still open and we are only being "advised" to not go to pubs, restaurants etc then people will still do these things. I drove past several pubs on my way home tonight that looked fairly busy as they were all celebrating st Patrick's day. Its madness but without clear and firm boundaries people dont think the guidance applies to them.

OwlinaTree · 17/03/2020 22:16

I'm surprised it's not been cancelled tbh. Maybe things will change by then. The soft okay is still open at the moment.

I agree I wouldn't go to a soft play party. But what about one at someone's home. Dd is invited to one this Sunday - 8 children from her class? I feel I should be social distancing but she is at school all day with these kids anyway so why is this any worse?

OwlinaTree · 17/03/2020 22:17

I think it's unfair to say that I think the guidance doesn't apply to me. The soft play is still open.
