Just that really.

We're all reading about the worst case scenarios but was wondering what the majority of people who have it feel like.

BG2015 · 17/03/2020 13:55

I know no one who has a confirmed case.

JemimaPuddleCat · 17/03/2020 13:58

A friend is waiting for test results. She's obviously feeling really terrible. (Though that's kind of a given, as they are only testing the most serious cases just now)

tasmaniandevilchaser · 17/03/2020 14:01

I've been wondering this but it will be hard to get an accurate picture as you won't be diagnosed unless you've been in hospital. So you'll only have the stories of people who have been very unwell. Which will make people more stressed....One of the many reasons I'm not impressed with the lack of testing.

JemimaPuddleCat · 17/03/2020 14:03

^ That's not entirely true. There is still some community testing being done.

tasmaniandevilchaser · 17/03/2020 14:05

That's encouraging, where are they doing that? Are they testing people with very mild symptoms? Or just people who are very unwell?!

tasmaniandevilchaser · 17/03/2020 14:06

Not sure where the stray exclamation mark came from...

Furble · 17/03/2020 14:13

I’m pretty sure I’m getting over it currently (day five). I’m 35yo asthmatic (well managed).
Symptom summary: Two days prior - two strong bouts of nausea and a very painful sore throat. Burning sensation across my chest.
Day One: Woke with an unbearable headache, could barely open eyes. Fever. Slept all day, took paracetamol and drank water.
Day Two: Headache more manageable. Chest pains mild. Breathlessness mild. Fever mild. Fatigue etc mild. Dry cough mild. (Most manageable day).
Day Three: Fever, bad chest pains, bad breathlessness (scary), dry cough which left my head swimming, felt very faint and oxygen deprived.
Day Four: Woke feeling improved but deteriorated to more of day three and fever returned.
Day Five: Woke with mild fever, headache and aches but chest pains and breathlessness much better. I am able to sit up to eat again.

It has been quite scary, I’ve never experienced breathlessness from doing nothing at all or felt that oxygen starved before. My advice would be to just rest as much as possible, stay hydrated and take regular paracetamol.

Furble · 17/03/2020 14:14

Ps I haven’t been able to get tested. I’ve been advised by 111 that I’m only to go to hospital for testing if I’m not any better after 7 days or I can’t manage my symptoms at home anymore. Thankfully I’m showing improvements.

tasmaniandevilchaser · 17/03/2020 14:17

Furble glad you're on the mend, have you got anyone to help you?

Surplus2requirements · 17/03/2020 14:20

Not tested so unconfirmed but feel like I have fairly mild flu.
Headache, joints ache (mostly back and legs) dry cough but not bad, chest feels hot, fluctuating temp but again not extreme.

I had flu in Jan and felt worse so it feels extreme to be shut away but I have vulnerable people around me so I'm confined to one room

Furble · 17/03/2020 14:22

@tasmaniandevilchaser
Yes thank you. My DH has been coming to terms with the realities of caring for a 3yo a 9mo and an invalid single handedly and has coped fantastically well. I’m not looking forward to seeing the state of the house when I go downstairs but I am honestly just so grateful to be feeling stronger. I may or may not have been making deals with the Almighty about exercising more and drinking less wine if I survive (bit dramatic but the unknown is scary).

I wanted to share my account as I found the lack of accounts of mild cases frustrating.

Iamonlyme · 17/03/2020 14:25

I was admitted to a and e with breathing difficulties and tested.
Await results.
I thought i had the the worst flu ever as confirmed by my gp as just flu rest fluids paracetemol etc.
Thirteen days later im on oxygen and iv antibiotics in isolation unit at hospital with pneumonia.
Since i been swabbed i have been sent home with a bag full of drugs and remain in isolation awaiting results

Furble · 17/03/2020 14:30

@Iamonlyme you poor thing. Are you starting to improve at all? Please just rest and drink and do nothing! Flowers

Iamonlyme · 17/03/2020 14:43

Breathing is improving but the reality is the smallest effort takes my breath away and requires a sit down which is difficult with two kids under 5 also in isolation and climbing the walls.

tasmaniandevilchaser · 17/03/2020 14:44

@furble glad you've got someone there, sounds like he's got his hands full!
@iamonlyme hope you're feeling better soon, it does sound like CV, how long are test results taking?

Iamonlyme · 17/03/2020 14:48

Well they are rushing it through (not) and advise anything between 3 to 7 days, day 3 is tomorrow so fingers crossed i get a result either way.

sixeightfour · 17/03/2020 14:52

I have a cough and difficulty breathing (healthy 27 year old- no asthma).

Have no idea what this is, but the breathing is scaring me.

WreckTangle95 · 17/03/2020 14:54

@Furble that sounds horrible... It really worries me as I am a single parent to four young children, and if I get it I won't have anyone to help me, and staying in bed won't be an option... I don't see how i would cope! So pleased you are on the mend though!

JemimaPuddleCat · 17/03/2020 15:03

@tasmaniandevilchaser I am not sure of all the details, but friend is in the Lothian area, Scotland. She has had a sore throat and fever, followed by coughing and diarrhoea. She has been told to isolate from everyone (has had to send teenage daughter elsewhere) and had to contact everyone she has been in close contact with in the last 21 days as it looks likely she has it.

Redredwine99 · 17/03/2020 15:45

No idea if I have it or not, I have a low fever, intermittent dry cough and a tight chest, getting breathless with not a lot of exertion, horrible headache and general muscle aches all over, very very tired.

ineedsun · 17/03/2020 15:53

Day one: cough, aches, pains, headaches, tired, nausea
Day two: more of the same plus chest pain
Day three: chest pain got worse and severe breathlessness. Plus cough tiredness etc
Day four: same again. Bloody knackered

They won't test unless I go into hospital, can't go to hospital as I can't get a lift or taxi in case I infect someone. I could probably drive but it wouldn't be very safe and there's no way I'm getting an ambulance. So I'm staying here and seeing it out.
I'm mildly asthmatic so for anyone who actually has more serious asthma I'd be worried and anyone who says they'll carry on with life or justifies continuing as normal by saying that they should close pubs if they want people to stop going is a selfish arsehole.

Furble · 17/03/2020 16:01

@ineedsun I was where you are 24 hours ago and our symptoms sound so similar. Have hope, you might start to feel a lot better tomorrow so try not to be downhearted. Flowers

ineedsun · 17/03/2020 16:09

Thanks @Furble

KenDodd · 17/03/2020 16:18

The lack of testing is a fucking scandal. If South Korea can do it why can't we?

Chances are, those above DON'T have CV based on the vast majority of tests the NHS has done have been negative. But how would you know? It's impossible without a test. You might well have it or you might not. If you don't have it are you going to have a false sense of security thinking you've already had it so the next thing that comes along (that might be CV) you might not take seriously?

I'm so angry about this.

KenDodd · 17/03/2020 16:19

I hope you all feel better soon btw :)
