12 weeks (or thereabouts) without a haircut?!

What blinding realisations are popping into your head?

@Minesabecks you have completely misunderstood the point of social distancing. You're right that to your personal risk of being infected at some point it probably does make little difference whether or not you go to the hairdresser.

But these measures are about population risk and reducing the spread of the disease so that hospitals aren't overwhelmed and ensuring that those who get severely ill with covid can be treated, or if you're in a car accident on the way back from the hairdresser or your elderly relative has a heart attack that you don't die a preventable death because the hospital's have no way of caring for you.

People staying home when they're symptomatic helps but it doesn't completely stop the spread of the disease (if it did we'd have far less of a problem). People can spread the disease even when they're asymptomatic.

Unless you're planning to decline all NHS care over the next year, you have a responsibility to the society you belong to to do your part to protect everyone else - which means following the bloody recommendations. If everyone address like you and thinks the rules don't apply to them there WILL be MANY preventable deaths.

I was wondering about going to get mine done as it’s a bit of a mess, but decided it’s definitely non-essential so have got box dye and planning to give the ends a trim myself. Can always get it tidied up properly later in the year.

I can think of nowhere worse to visit than the hairdresser during a pandemic of an airborne virus .
I shall wear a hat!

Someone who's been in a room with lots of children all day, as well as mixing with other people could become infected and pass on the virus before they have symptoms.
So those who say they might as well go to the hairdresser because of the above need to realise it's not about their risk, it's about the risk to the hairdresser and other customers.

mytwopence there is no "rule" telling me not to go to a room with three other people in it. The risk I am experiencing (and transmitting) is through showing up every day to do my job which is getting harder as more staff are off, and wondering why our government has some better grasp on the "science" than every other European country has with regard to school closures. I'm a bit tired of getting grief about this discussion when I am worried about how long I am expected to do this (largely thankless) job when my daily experience is one giant health hazard.

I doubt my the day of my appointment the hairdresser will be open or I will still be without symptoms, but it is also a choice that the HD can make for herself if she doesn't want a customer! She is well aware of my job.
