Updated this evening. I can't remember how to do links 🤔

Thanks. I get an annual invitation to get a flu jab following cancer so I guess that’s me.

geekaMaxima · 16/03/2020 21:00

Thanks OP.

Why couldn't they have released this info at the same time as Bloody Stupid Johnson's press conference? Hmm

MitziK · 16/03/2020 21:07

Great. Not only am I on biologics (which aren't listed) and steroid injections (which aren't listed), so I'll have to argue the toss with work about that, even though I get a flu jab every year - I'm also apparently a fat bastard.

Win-win. Well, until I get fired because my job can't be done at home. Or I have to go in and get exterminated by the latest kid whose mother says 'I didn't think the cough and fever information related to my child, as it's not that bad'.

Helenj1977 · 16/03/2020 21:07

There are loads of asthmatics, are they all going to stay in for 12 weeks?

OP posts:
diege · 16/03/2020 21:09

To clarify, does that mean that all asthmatic children have to self-quarantine for12 weeks? Confused

Nameofchanges · 16/03/2020 21:09

That advice doesn’t say to stay off work.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 16/03/2020 21:12

I was under the impression hypertension counted as an underlying health condition, am I ok to assume it’s not?

Myohmy123 · 16/03/2020 21:13

Is that social distancing rather than social isolating?

Helenj1977 · 16/03/2020 21:13

Boris said, everyone over 70 and vulnerable. That's the list of vulnerable.

I guess that would be the start

What about children with asthma? The picture above says adults who need a flu jab every year due to those health conditions but no mention of children?

Comefromaway · 16/03/2020 21:14

Thank you. So my asthma isn’t severe so I won’t be isolating but I need to strictly socially distance myself.

Despite having one child in Year 11 and another in year 13 I’m hoping the schools close as dh has to travel to work on public transport.

I’m getting a laptop from work and as it’s a family company & I’m admin have just been told I can go in late at night if I want to get essential office based tasks done.

PerfectParrot · 16/03/2020 21:17

Social distancing is what everyone is expected to try to do as best they can.

The vulnerable group (those with conditions listed) need to be aware that more restrictive measures will be in place soon, likely by the weekend.

ElsasSalamander · 16/03/2020 21:18

Izzybuzzy I wondered that too

Helenj1977 · 16/03/2020 21:19

They need to be clearer. That was updated and shared on twitter by the department of health!

Canshopwillshop · 16/03/2020 21:20

Wondering about asthmatic children too.

BunnyandBee · 16/03/2020 21:21

I am confused about this too. It says anyone under 70 but instructed to get a flu jab as an adult.
My dd (3) has a congenital heart defect. She is not medicated, but was eligible for the flu vaccine (before she met the age criteria for the nasal spray).
Is this applying to children too?

Bingeslayer · 16/03/2020 21:21

Who knew I'd be classed as high risk for being a fat fuck!!

sazza76 · 16/03/2020 21:22

This list doesn’t cover every condition and any list that did would be incredibly long. Even with hypertention it would depend on how well it is being managed and if there are any other underlying issues as well.
I think people who have health conditions that arent on the list should really know if they are going to be at higher risk of all viruses etc. Like it says, if you are offered the yearly flu jab its a good indicator that your GP believes you are at greater risk than those without health conditions.

whatisforteamum · 16/03/2020 21:23

I've had asthma for 40 years.Recently had to get a blue inhaler during a chest infection after ages not needing blue or brown one.
Where do I stand? Nurse said before Xmas flu jab not needed as I don't take brown steroid inhaler anymore.
Help?

Helenj1977 · 16/03/2020 21:23

They have to start big but not full on lockdown big.

Do we all not see family now? I'm hoping tomorrows update will be clearer x

Does anyone know whether Coarctation of Aorta and bicuspid aortic valve is considered “Chronic”? I’ve tried googling, but cannot find any straight answers

YgritteSnow · 16/03/2020 21:26

I developed adult onset asthma six years ago. Am late forties. At that time I had to take a course of steroid tablets to recover and then again one year later for another bout. I no longer need a preventer inhaler - used to be on Symbicort for about a year. Now only need blue inhaler - probably about twice a year. Still supposed to get the flu jab though. Am in the vulnerable category?

SpunBodgeSquarepants · 16/03/2020 21:26

My bmi is 45 - does that really put me in the high risk group?? How much higher than a healthy person? I don't feel unfit considering how overweight I am - I can run up stairs without getting out of breath etc. I'm only 32!!

MoggyP · 16/03/2020 21:29

They seem to be a bit too ready to leave the obese too die.

A bit like an opposite AIDS 'don't die of embarrassment' campaign. The government here lists BMI of over 40 as a distinct COVID risk, but not a word at the press conference IIRC. Caution against fat shaming has gone too far, when it starts to interfere with telling people they are at risk and need to isolate

Helenj1977 · 16/03/2020 21:29

I've asked for this to be removed because it's confusing people.

I'm sure we'll get more info in the next 2 days x
