I would say a good month of eating twice a day (pasta, rice dishes) - ie no thrills just sustenance

OP posts:

About 6 weeks with fairly boring meals for the last 2-3 weeks. Family of 4.

I have 2 freezers and batch cook. We bulk out a lot of meals with pulses ect. I have a lot of veg frozen. Lots of tins. Baking things.

Not enough toilet roll/toiletries ect though.

Qwertygert · 16/03/2020 13:30

Se would be lucky to get past a week! Ha I am thinking we probably need to shop more but are deffo evident we are not part of the stockpiling people! Grin

A month.
But there is only enough gin for 2 weeks unless the stress level rises.

And there's always the dog in an emergency.

BrowncoatWaffles · 16/03/2020 13:31

2-3 weeks but that would be fridge, freezer and cupboards emptied and a fair amount of cereal as needed.

DonkeyKong2019 · 16/03/2020 13:31

2 maybe 3 weeks

Whathappenedtothelego · 16/03/2020 13:31

I reckon a month.
6 weeks if I reduced portion sizes.
Maybe even 2 months with very reduced portions.

BlueWonder · 16/03/2020 13:33

3 or 4 days. Can cook etc but can't afford to stockpile stuff and no freezer.

BelfryBat · 16/03/2020 13:33

About six weeks, the last two weeks I'd be eating nothing but boiled beans though! If you haven't got one, I would recommend getting a breadmaker: flour keeps for months.

I've got six months' cat food, so he'll be ok if he learns how to get into the packet.

tiredanddangerous · 16/03/2020 13:33

I would say 2 weeks. There’d be a distinct lack of fresh fruit and veg, milk and bread after week 1 though.

sleepylittlebunnies · 16/03/2020 13:35

Probably about 2 weeks of normal eating. A few more weeks of eking out supplies on a purely sustenance front. I’ve got jars of pickles that haven’t been touched as no one is keen but I’d eat them rather than starve.

On a positive note I was given enough gin to last a year for Christmas so there’s always that and my own fat supplies so I can prioritise feeding DH and kids.

I’ve recently started a new job in a nursing home and I’m fed when on duty so I’d eat a good meal a few times a week, more if we’re locked down at work.

smartiecake · 16/03/2020 13:35

10 days maybe? My food shopping delivery was cancelled yesterday

pallisers · 16/03/2020 13:35

5 of us here. I reckon I could feed us for 6 weeks or so but I'd watch the portions and it would be pasta and tomatoes for most of that time.

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 16/03/2020 13:36

About a month - six weeks maybe of eating what we want, maybe up to two months if we planned a bit better

Wtfdoipick · 16/03/2020 13:37

Probably 6 weeks but the last 3 would be basically pulses and dried beans. It wouldn't be the healthiest of diets as the veg would run out but it would keep us going. I would normally be eating my supplies at this time but am just keeping up with my regular shop instead. The stock I have in is the items that were bought Oct/Nov to see us through a bad weather spell in winter as we live in a remote area, thankfully they weren't needed.

lastqueenofscotland · 16/03/2020 13:37

A few days probably.

Penners99 · 16/03/2020 13:37

4 months of 3 meals a day

Missfritter · 16/03/2020 13:38

2 weeks as I wasn’t able to get much shopping this week. I shall be buying another 4 weeks worth over this week and next. DH is SE and we have no savings after major van and car repairs so I have no choice but to buy a month in advance incase he can’t work for a few weeks.

TiggeryBear · 16/03/2020 13:39

😂 until tomorrow! I need to go shopping today as we have been completely skint so not able to do any stocking up. I'm going to replenish the cupboard & hopefully go again in a few days time to bulk out my usual supplies that unfortunately we have had to use up due to unexpected bills etc.

puds11 · 16/03/2020 13:39

I have quite a lot of protein powder and huel just from my normal day routine. I reckon I could live off that alone for about two weeks. Not ideal but doable if needed. Baby is breastfed and id have enough in the cupboards/freezer for eldest DD for at least 3 weeks I think. Would be very boring as it’s stuff like old porridge but better that than starve!

Lima45 · 16/03/2020 13:39

Two weeks, have a tiny kitchen with next to no storage. Could eke out what we've got but it would be very samey, but I live with two ASD fussy eaters who probably wouldn't mind that overly much. Breakfast would be hardest as they go through cereal and milk like there's no tomorrow

BlueWonder · 16/03/2020 13:39

Quite fed up wit people saying they are not stockpilers but that they are picking up a couple of extra packs of beans/pasta/looroll whenever they pop into a shop. This is having the same effect as stockpiling .....all taking more than usual from the shelves and not leaving enough to go round for those who can't afford to bulk buy in advance.

Noodlenosefraggle · 16/03/2020 13:39

I'm not sure, so I dont know whether to start using the food I have while we're not on lockdown, risking using it up too much. Kids are on school dinners for the next 2 weeks so I dont have to shop for packed lunch stuff, but I'm worried about using up rice for dinner tonight when theres no rice in the shops ( we eat a lot of rice!)

MrsJonesAndMe · 16/03/2020 13:40

2 weeks - maybe a bit longer.

Cohle · 16/03/2020 13:40

About two weeks of normal, nice meals. Maybe another two weeks of "sustenance" if we really ate everything.
