Please share your stories of other people behaving badly.
It helps to share these experiences.

I have had two bad interactions with people and groups at two different locations, people are the real danger in the UK.

Two woman in the local large shopping car park, being aggressive shouting at people for having full trolleys, very angry uneducated rats looking to blame everyone else for them not preparing.

80+ man was in the local shop shouting at people randomly for shopping and calling fat people the problem and they didn't exist in the War. It was really sad I called him Albert from only fools and horses and walked away.

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best, because hope is not a strategy.

Hope is always a strategy.

I’m not going to share a story of people being horrible, I’m going to share that today I offered to help my neighbours if they need it, and they reciprocated the offer.

My local community Facebook group is full of people offering help and supplies to those who don’t have them,

There is always hope, and focusing on the worst helps no one.

LittleRootie · 15/03/2020 14:07
Hmm
NanSlayer · 15/03/2020 14:13

Hope is not a strategy!
Luck is not a factor.
Fear is not an option.

Nice to see you have included yourself the post op🤨🤨.

mycatsmellsbad · 15/03/2020 14:17

Why does it help to share these experiences? There’s another thread on here listing the shit people are saying to each other in supermarkets and it’s really quite depressing - and really at odds with what I’m witnessing in my own town which is people helping each other out and trying to make light of what could be a desperate situation. I’d much rather hear those kinds of stories thanks - unless I was a red top paper or something...

LeeMiller · 15/03/2020 14:18

In Italy so a few weeks ahead. A crisis always brings out the worst in people as well as the best. Lashing out, selfishness, scapegoating, driven by fear, anger, greed. But you also get solidarity, generosity, compassion etc, and it's really important to foster those.

NanSlayer · 15/03/2020 14:19

Your leadership will be tested early and often, there will be setbacks and false starts, your willingness to make tough choices early on will set the tone for a revival of a shell-shocked economy and a fatigued nation.

Yet, the fact remains that
Hope will not reduce housing foreclosures.
Hope does not stop a recession or depression.
Hope cannot create jobs.
Hope will not prevent catastrophic failures of banks.
Hope is simply not a strategy.

I'm not focusing on the negative and I'm not living in a dream world either :)

SamVimesFavouriteDragon · 15/03/2020 14:19

Really don't think sharing the negativity is the answer Hmm

NanSlayer · 15/03/2020 14:21

It's helps to share these experiences as we can gauge how bad people are out there, without going out.

OP posts:
Lordamighty · 15/03/2020 14:31

There’s enough negativity on here already, lots of new posters springing up with scare stories.

SamVimesFavouriteDragon · 15/03/2020 14:33

Nanslayer, on that premise - and I don't agree with it anyway - if we're staying in, we don't need to know how bad it is outside!

TatoTurner · 15/03/2020 14:35

This has been covered extensively on another thread, which you know OP because you shared exactly the same stories there. I have no idea what you want to achieve by starting another identical thread other than amplify negativity and stir up panic.

MountDiogenes · 15/03/2020 14:40

The guy sounds a bit confused or not very bright. He'll probably be in there tomorrow shouting that Meghan Markle caused the empty shelves, depending on who the latest hate figure is he's read about in the news. Grin

WatcherintheRye · 15/03/2020 14:40

Very angry uneducated rats

Nice. Maybe they're just ordinary people who can't actually afford to stockpile toilet roll and pasta, and when they do go to buy one packet, find the shelves empty. Maybe that's why they're angry.

Lordamighty · 15/03/2020 14:41

I am beginning to believe there is malicious intent behind some of these threads. Same posters, same scaremongering.

MountDiogenes · 15/03/2020 14:43

Well hopefully ordinary people don't go around shouting about fat people!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 15/03/2020 14:54

It was really sad I called him Albert from only fools and horses and walked away

Pardon?

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 15/03/2020 14:55

I mean - Did you really just shout "Albert!" at him and then run off?

PurpleDaisies · 15/03/2020 14:55

It's helps to share these experiences as we can gauge how bad people are out there, without going out.

It isn’t helpful.

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 15/03/2020 14:58

Oh do give over.

AmIAWeed · 15/03/2020 14:58

The only thing that will help is sharing stories of how we can help each other.
There's threads on how to support older relatives to self isolate without feeling lonely. Activities for adults. How to talk to children and keep them calm - those threads are what will help and I hope will continue to enforce the be kind message

BritWifeinUSA · 15/03/2020 15:00

Went to the supermarket late last night. Was pleased to see that the cashiers were wearing hospital gloves because of handling cash, coupons, etc. However there is one cashier there who always sees himself as a bit of a rebel. He modifies his uniform, adds stuff to his name badge, that kind of thing. He is about 60. He wasn’t wearing gloves. We were at the next till along and overheard the people that were being served by the uniform rebel and they asked why he was the only one not wearing gloves. He said “In my day we only had a bath once a week and we all shared the same water. We had never even heard of hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, and all that. And we survived.” The customers were speechless.

Readytogogogo · 15/03/2020 15:03

How does it even occur to you to call fellow humans rats?

StewPots · 15/03/2020 15:11

Uneducated rats?

Perhaps they were incredibly frustrated because like me, they live week to week on very little money ( and no before you say it, I'm not on benefits, I just work as a waitress as my own issues forced me to give up being a senior HCA in dementia care) but found the shelves bare of anything because people have been selfishly stockpiling.

I'd love to prepare as you put it but I can't - I have to buy what I can with the money I have when I get paid. But still I'm more concerned about the elderly and those in the high risk categories. And still I'm proud of a few members of my community putting together a group that will ensure those who are housebound and vulnerable are not left without, with local businesses putting in stock and supplies.

Take your negative spiteful attitude elsewhere and maybe try being a bit more positive in life generally. Might chance your perspective.

I haven’t had these experiences. What I have had is the estate where I live creating a Facebook group where people can ask for and offer help.

I also saw a lady offering an old man a bottle of hand sanitiser from her own handbag when she heard him saying to the cashier in Tesco that he hadn’t been able to get any.
