Assuming we aren't ill 😷 or dead 🧟‍♀️ , trying to think how to keep boredom at bay during the coming weeks. I think even ds(15) will get bored of his PS4!!! 🎮 I'll be working during the day from home so will be kept busy with that during the day, but will be stir crazy the rest of the time especially if I have ds and dh under my feet all day!

I've not got very far:

  • Board games, we have loads of them upstairs that haven't been played for a while. Including "Pandemic" - its a cooperative game, lets hope we all win! 🤦‍♀️
  • Box sets - will probably sign up for Netflix again - I haven't been on for a while, any recommendations? We only have one TV so needs to be something dh will enjoy too which will be challenging!🎬
  • Kindles will be a god send as I can get easy access to books from home 📖
  • Wonder if I can encourage dh to (quietly) get some long outstanding DIY done while I work 🤔🛠

My kids are quite young 7 & 4 so I plan on keeping education going as much as I can. I want to teach the eldest to tell the time (half way there) and tie his laces.
I want to gut the house, finish off the DIY from 2 years ago and get some work done.

Get the Plague Inc app- see who can wipe out the world first

Learn to knit

Learn to code

Burpee challenge

Tap dancing

Tiddlywinks

GlacindaTheTroll · 14/03/2020 19:41

If there are 4 of you stranded, learn to play bridge.

Different number, try other card games can be brilliant, and sow the seeds of family in-jokes for years to come

NeurotrashWarrior · 14/03/2020 19:43

A few local dance/ Pilates teachers are selling classes on line; I may actually end up doing more than I usually do!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 14/03/2020 19:43

Similar, I have a 8&7 year old. I doubt I'll have time to get bored!

Probably build every Lego set in house. Read every book. Every jigsaw puzzle. Daily exercise DVD. Games in garden. Teach them keyboard or recorder (maybe get the ukulele from PILs). Gardening. Various Beaver/Cub badges.

Then kindle in evenings.

NeurotrashWarrior · 14/03/2020 19:43

Which is nowt

AmIAWeed · 14/03/2020 19:47

Bought laminate flooring for my husband to lay in lock down, he's not escaping of getting sick till it's done!
My daughter has said she wants to paint so I'll pop to the range tomorrow for supplies.
My son is sitting GCSEs so he'll have a mix of study and keeping fit.
I always work from home so no big change for me

HollyHocks13 · 14/03/2020 19:48

Great thread!
I'm planning to de clutter the house and do lots of sorting out which I never get the chance to do.
Also, board games with the kids, reading books on my kindle, jigsaws and Netflix.
Oh and working from home and attempting to make my kids do some school work!
I've also bought myself a big bottle of whiskey in case I need it!

idontlike789 · 14/03/2020 19:50

Go on mumsnet very entertaining .

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 14/03/2020 19:52

I ordered craft supplies from Hobbycraft earlier (does that count as panic buying?)

Purplecatshopaholic · 14/03/2020 19:54

I am going to go and deep clean each room in my house, doing all the things I should do occasionally but never actually do. Currently clearing some cupboards that haven’t been touched in a while. Will be working from home during the week so that will keep me busy during working hours. Might have the opportunity to re-read some books - wow, that would be great. If things get really desperate there’s always the ironing...

Tumbleweed101 · 14/03/2020 19:54

Write the final book in my trilogy! Been too busy to get it done over last couple of years.

BarbedBloom · 14/03/2020 19:54

I draw and write. I have books and can order more for my kindle. We obviously have Netflix. I like baking so that is another option. I could garden as there is no one nearby. I have an oil painting kit I got for Christmas too

I also like to learn new skills on YouTube. I am trying to learn sign language at the moment. Also learning a few languages on duo lingo

Chottie · 14/03/2020 19:58

I will knit, garden, do online yoga and Pilates.
I will cook some new recipes and make some marmalade.
I will read books I have bought, but not got around to reading yet.
I will telephone friends

If I have any spare time, I will declutter and sort some parts of the house

myidentitymycrisis · 14/03/2020 20:01

I’m currently decorating spare room, have a lot of gardening to do, sewing, knitting, tons of books to read. Work stuff.

WeAllHaveWings · 14/03/2020 20:01

Burpee challenge

getting fit at home is a good one, might dust down the old treadmill which has been gathering dust in the corner for the last year!

We were planning to decorate when it gets warmer so that’s on the cards. We have a bolt hole that is fairly remote in a nice part of the country so once we’ve all had the virus we will probably commute between there and home and enjoy the summer.
I do expect to get the virus early on due to my frontline job. I’m hoping my DH doesn’t so may send him away to self isolate, he’s very antisocial anyway.
Must buy some more candles and camping gas in case we lose utilities. We are used to power cuts so have plenty in stock. I don’t know how the younger generations are going to cope without social media though🤣

JaneBond0007 · 14/03/2020 20:02

Mine are 9-13 so I thought of

  • various games consoles (obviously!)
  • tablets - games and YouTube
  • Netflix/amazon prime etc
  • Lego (we have tonnes)
  • board games - we have lots (inc pandemic!)
  • sciences kits we have
  • craft/painting
  • cooking/baking
  • school work from school sites
  • puzzles
  • Woodwork (DS2 has tools and like making stuff)
  • we have loads of books
  • things like nerf guns/Star Wars VR set etc

Might sign up to Disney film subscription thing

Think there will be lots of sorting of cupboards etc!
Our scouts financial year ends 31sr March so I can crack on with stuff for that
Weed the garden if we have nice weather

WeAllHaveWings · 14/03/2020 20:03

I thought about that, but dh put dampers in it by saying bin collections might be impacted eventually.

What about for younger kids? 3 and 6?

goodwinter · 14/03/2020 20:04

I'm an introvert with no kids, so I'd love it! Board games/video games with my partner, reading, cross stitch/embroidery, DIY jobs I've been meaning to get around to... bliss!

I'll also need to WFH throughout it all.

Just hope I can still walk my dog...

toothfairy73 · 14/03/2020 20:04

Oh and napping
Planning many naps

AccountAntsy · 14/03/2020 20:09

I could entertain just myself no bother, I’m an antisocial bastard at the best of times could happily while away months watching tv box sets and reading books. I might work my way through ER from the beginning.

However I have a 2 year old so I think there will be A LOT of playing in the garden, hopefully we’ll get one lucky break and have decent weather. No idea how we’ll manage work or working from home if her nursery closes though, and can’t afford unpaid leave.

DobbyLovesSocks · 14/03/2020 20:11

DS and I have a 1000 piece jigsaw to complete
I have a months worth of one TV program to watch, plus 7 seasons of another to watch.
DS will no doubt get online work to complete
I also have numerous craft projects to finish. I can get what I'm missing online or ask family to purchase and leave on my doorstep for me
